Alastor's POV
"Al.... I can't. it's too strong."
"Y/N!"
I tried calling out for her a few more times, but it was too late. All three of them had disappeared. Dread filled my stomach.
She was gone. I knelt down on the spot where she had once been. All that was left was her earpiece. I held it in my fist, careful not to smash it in my rage. I spoke into the tiny thing, trying to sound normal, but I was far from that.
"Meet me in the alley on 23rd street."
I didn't wait to hear the little imps' voices. I reached out to y/n's mind, but all I could find was fuzzy darkness. I stood up as I started to hear footsteps. Waiting until they were right behind me to turn around.
They laughed as they walked in, thinking they had won. In fact, it was much further than that. "Alastor? What are you doing here? Where's y/n?"
I turned around at the mention of her name and grabbed the tallest imp of the group. He had been the one to get her shot, and he had been the one who failed to tell me their plan. I pushed him against the back wall of the alley, holding him by the neck.
"Sฬฬฬฬตอhฬฬอฬฬปeฬฬฃฬฟอฬ'sฬ าอ ออ gฬฬฝฬออoฬอขฬฏฬฑอnฬฃอฬฬฬคeฬฬฃฬฟอฬ."
He struggled against my grasp, but couldn't escape. Suddenly I felt something tugging at my coat. "Sir, please let him down and explain everything to us."

"She didn't tell us till she was already on their trail, sir. We had no idea, but what happened to her?"
I dropped the imp I was holding onto the ground. He gasped for air as I turned and walked back towards the group. The rage was still roiling inside of me, but I needed to try and communicate with her weak links. "Y/n was taken. By both Velvet and Vox. I don't know what happened, but she couldn't fight back when they took her. Tell me, what was her plan to begin with."
The other little imp with black hair spoke up. "She wanted this plan for you. And all the other people she loved. She was going to take out Velvet and Vox as fast as possible. We didn't know she was going to do this until a few minutes ago."
I took a deep breath and put a hand to my mouth. Of course, y/n would've done that. Why hadn't I seen it before? I guess I hadn't calmed her worries about Lucifer.
I shook my head in disbelief and turned towards the imp on the ground, but was greeted by the silhouette of an angry Stolas. "How dare you lay a finger on him." His voice was threatening, but it was easily dwarfed by the rage running through my body.
"Your little imps didn't honor the agreement. Y/n has been taken by Vox and Velvet, and previously, was shot by Valentino after she told them to remove his weapons. There was also nothing in the contract that stated I couldn't hurt him."
He looked taken aback by what I had said but didn't hesitate for a moment. He turned towards the imps on the ground. "I want to know where she is right now. The building should be heavily guarded due to the nature of y/n's powers, so it shouldn't be hard to find." He stood up as they all ran out of the alley.
Turning to look at me, he said, "She must have been sedated, there is no way they could keep someone that strong without it."
I stared ahead, "I'll keep this little earpiece thing, so I'll know if you find her. But I'm going to search for myself. Your imps have been less than helpful as of late."
He walked after them but didn't say anything else. I stood there in the darkness of the alley, trying to process everything that has happened. She had done this for me. I shook my head, "How careless, I'm not the one who needed saving."
Our kiss had somehow felt like a goodbye, but I didn't understand it then. That was why she had done it. Her "I love you." rang through my mind, I had never said it back.
I shifted onto one of the buildings surrounding the alley. Until she woke up, I would search for her, manually. Destroying every last building, until I could find her.

-about a day later-
Y/N's POV
Everything was fuzzy and black. I had a massive headache and felt incredibly weak. My hood pooled around me on the floor. I could feel that my wings were no longer there, but I could still feel the knife in my boot. My eyes slowly opened and I was met by a dark grey room.
I closed my eyes again as soon as I spotted the camera in the top corner. I couldn't move my arms, they were tied down to the floor.
"Al?" I reached out to him, but I couldn't break through the fuzzy curtain surrounding my brain. I couldn't cut through the fog. I could hear his voice, but couldn't make out what he was saying. "I-I can't hear you."
His voice continued to murmur against the fabric covering my brain. I took a deep breath and tried to calm my beating heart and figure out my situation.
I was taken by Velvet and Vox. I don't know where I am, but I think I was sedated. That's why I can't hear Al. I know that Velvet and Vox are threatened by me, that's why they brought me here. How could I use this to my advantage?
I thought of Al again and realized something. I need to be manipulative like Al is with other Overlords. What if I can find their weaknesses? My brain was still fuzzy with fog, but I could feel my strength coming back.
I opened my eyes and tugged on the chains as hard as I could. With the help of my wings, I tore them from the ground, but they still dangled around my wrist. I summoned my scythe and it almost dropped from my hands at how heavy it was.
I regained my posture and headed for the far wall, determined to break out. Suddenly, a burst of electricity ran through my body. I landed hard on the floor. It hurt so much.
My eyes shot up and landed on Vox and Velvet's frame on the doorway. I quietly laughed. "You caught me." I held my hands out in front of me.
Vox didn't say anything as he shut, and barred, the door behind them. Velvet held the taser lightly in her hand. "Do you know why you are here?"
I knew exactly why, but I decided to completely lie. I wanted to see her breaking point. "Not really. No." Rage filled her eyes but she kept it down.
"You killed Valentino. Did you know what he was t--" Her voice faded into the background once I heard Al's voice.
"Y/N are you alright?!" His voice was a little dim, but I could hear him well enough.
"I'm fine, for now. I don't know what they are going to do to me, but they don't care if they hurt me."
"Where are you?"
I continued to pretend to listen to her. She had small tears in the corners of her eyes. "I can't tell you much. It's just a plain grey interrogation room."
Unexpectedly, she reached her hand out and slapped my face. It wasn't the hardest I'd been slapped but it stung. "You're not even fucking listening! You killed him and don't even have the heart to listen to how it has affected me and Voxy!"
My eyes went blank. I shook my head, "Then you have something wrong. I didn't kill Valentino."
Vox spoke up from the back of the room. His voice sounded like electricity was running through it. "You really expect us to believe you?"
"No, I don't. But he shot me before I killed him. I was knocked down, I didn't even get the chance."
Velvet turned to look back at Vox. They were at a loss for words. I spoke to fill the awkward silence, even though I was about to lie. "I was completely alone when I tried to kill him. He took out a hidden pistol and shot me in the stomach. I blacked out and was in the same spot when I woke up. I looked over to where Valentino had been and he had a bullet through his head."
"STOP!! YOU DON'T DESERVE TO SAY HIS NAME." She screamed and ran back at me, a knife suddenly in her hand. I dodged her first attack, but she got a good cut on my cheek. Since I was sitting on the floor, I swiped her legs out from under her and kicked her back towards Vox.
There was anger in Vox's electric eyes, but he didn't rush to Velvet's side. I stood up and crossed my arms. "I will work with both of you, but not if you intend to hurt me for something I didn't do." Velvet's head swung up from the floor. She did not look happy.
Vox looked at me, "You are not in a position to try and reason with us."
I started laughing at both of their faces and put my hands on my waist. Velvet's voice spits like poison. "What?"
I smiled down at her. "You are scared of me. You wouldn't have used a sedative if you thought you could take me. Honestly, it's just embarrassing. Do you realize that I could break out of this place so easily? My scythe cut through your buildings like butter. The same would happen to these walls."
Vox looked like he was starting to lose his cool. "This is the most secure of any of my buildings. Can your scythe cut through the earth? You are over 100 ft underground. The amount of minions in this building is close to an army."
"Al, he said that I am over 100 ft underground. There is a bunch of security here. It is one of Vox's buildings."
"I will try to find you as fast as possible."
"Actually, don't. I want to get some information out of them, and they are incredibly easy to manipulate. You can come whenever, but I am not in any urgency right now."
"I know that you have pain in your cheek y/n. I can sense it. And after you lied to me about what you were doing, you don't really have a choice."
I cringed inwardly at the thought of the lie but smiled at Vox. "Why would you have close to an army of minions here? I don't think you use this many for people who just steal money."
I had finally broken a part of him. He came close to me and picked me up, launching me across the room. I hit the back wall hard and fell onto my knees. I coughed but smiled at him, not showing my weaknesses. "I got thrown harder by Valentino's bullet, much less your fist." I laughed at him.
He swung a fist and hit me on the corner of my lip. In all honesty, he was hitting extremely hard. My head was spinning and my face felt like it was pounding. I realized my lip had split when blood pooled in my mouth.
While I was still recovering from the punch, he picked my entire body up and slammed me back onto the ground. Pain splintered through my chest. I had definitely just broken some ribs. He leaned down towards my fallen form, his face illuminating my body.
"You are going to work with us, or we will keep sedating you." Velvet spoke up from my right.
"Torture is always a viable option as well."
I looked up at her, well tried to. "I thought you just wanted to kill me."
Vox laughed evilly, "And waste all of that power?! We would be mad to do that. We want to use your powers. You take over the throne and we control it from behind."
"How would you control me?"
"Let's just say we have a little Radio Demon sedated in the next room."
I laughed inwardly, but let fear cross my features. "Hey Al. Are you by any chance currently sedated?"
His laugh echoed through my mind, "Are they bluffing now?"
"Big time."
I looked up at Vox. "Let me see him."
Velvet cackled down at my body. "We didn't get to see Val when he was getting hurt or killed. We would've wanted to save him, just like how you want to save your Alastor--"
Wow, it was incredibly easy to tune that doll out. I remembered what Al had told me about the voiceless magic. I had to hum or sing in order to make my powers work, but could I do it with just a single thought?
I imagined the vines twining in between my ribs, closing the broken parts, and stitching the bone back together. While doing this, I looked back up at Velvet, still talking about her Valentino. I knew when it was finished once the pain in my chest receded.
My powers were still incredibly weak. I couldn't create energy or blow anything up, but I could heal myself. That was a start. All I would have to do is wait it out.
