Y/n would've never thought life could get any better than how it had been going ever since she had first started Hogwarts that year; yet there she stood, often surrounded by many Griffindors, always stopped when seen walking down the corridors to be greeted on and asked how she was doing.
Overall, the girl thoroughly enjoyed the new spotlight the Quidditch match had given her – she had lost, that was true; she was not going to be apart of it either anymore, that was also true. But none seemed to care – and she least of all.
The only ones who would've probably had complaints about her new attitude would've had to be her closest friends, Jisung and Felix, and to a certain extent – Seungmin too.
That was exactly what Jisung was trying to tell her on monday afternoon, while they were getting back to the castle from their Herbology lesson.
Professor Longbottom had thought it fit to congratulate Y/n on her playing, which had given Jisung the chance to intervene on the topic, which she had carefully ignored all day.
"You have gotten too popular", he complained, trying to get her attention back from having just encountered two Ravenclaws, Seo and Hwang, who had both congratulated their 'debate mate' (Y/n was actually surprised Jisung didn't have some other comment to make about that nickname).
"Sungie, it's just a phase" she tried to explain, while smiling amiably at some other students walking opposite them who were sending her wide grins. "A week's trend, you'll see, and then they will all forget I even exist".
The prospect did not hurt her the slightest: the girl had come to realize she did not really care, at the end. All that mattered was trying to enjoy life as best as she could, and she had been doing that even before taking part to that Quidditch match – things would've not got worse should she quickly fade away from people's memories.
"A week?" protested Jisung, always with that whiny tone that had not left him ever since they'd bid their goodbyes to Neville. "How am I supposed to live through a week of this chaos?"
The girl just rolled her eyes. "None is forcing you to spend one whole week with me, if you think it annoying. Do whatever, I'll be waiting".
"You know I wouldn't leave you alone" Jisung was quick to reply, which she appreciated. "Still, I do not get all the hype – no offence intended, obviously.
"Yeah, obviously" she mocked him. "Dear Sungie, only because I was not as perfectly outstanding as your Lee was, does not mean I flew like shit".
"You know I do not think that!" Jisung's cheecks had reddened immediately, which she thought very very cute. "You fly just as good as Minho and-"
"You're lying!" she protested, hitting him jokingly on the shoulder. "Lee Minho's too good a flyer, I'll never get to his level".
"With practice, perharps..."
Y/n laughed. "Jisung, let me just tell you – you're the worst hype man I have ever encountered!"
"That's not true" he pouted. "You are a good flyer, just as Minho is. Did you see that spectacular Wronsky feint he did to confuse Jongho? That was smooth".
"Thank you Jisung!" said a voice ahead of them, and Y/n was surprised to see the Slytherin's chaser walking towards them – the Headmistress' office, the library; they were all the way she and Jisung were going. Behind them there was just the small sidedoor students used to get to the greenhouses (it took less time than reaching it from the front fields).
But all those reflections she had to put aside, because before that she had to make sure her best friend was still alive (and possibly standing).
"Uh- ehm... you're welcome, Minho! I mean, I only spoke the truth and-" the boy was clearly struggling, so to shift the Slytherins' focus Y/n decided on a whim to complimented the Seeker as well:
"He did indeed! I did not see it myself, but Jongho also told me – you must have very good reflexes to be able to do that!" she said with a smile.
"Oh, thank you so much. Your reflexes must be much better though – as a Keeper, you need them way more than I do. Yeji also told me you did a great job!" he replied politely.
If all Slytherins are like him, thought Y/n, we should really stop making fun of them. But then she remembered of Seungmin and his bluntness, and that reflection immediately became useless.
"Also – you would want to avoid the Gargoyle's corridor, if you're going to your dorms. A few Hufflepuffs just had quite the quarrel, and it's got pretty messy" added Minho.
So that's why they're coming this way. Y/n and Jisung thanked him, and after quickly addressing the others Minho was with they departed, taking the left-sided corridor instead of walking ahead, following the boy's suggestion.
"Uh-ah-ehm... y-y-you'r-re w-welc-com-me, M-m-minho!" Y/n mocked the friend once she was sure there would be no danger of anyone overhearing.
Jisung's cheecks were almost as red as the scarf the boy had clutched around his neck, but he replied nevertheless: "Yes, go ahead and make fun of my stuttering, you lil' wench! As if I hadn't noticed how you were looking for someone... is it perharps that Slytherin you always hang out with?"
Now it was the girl's turn to blush. "We only hung out once, at night, during a patroll" she stated, her nose bent up towards the ceiling.
Jisung tsked. "Sure, and the boy that came to wish you good luck yesterday was a phantom".
"I never said he was a phantom... and besides, it doesn't matter".
"I would only like to know if the dude's reliable" Jisung's tone had suddenly got more serious. "You know, I can't say no because he's a Slyth, – I can understand the thrill – but I'd like to understand if he's actually chill before giving you leave-"
"Oh, please! So now you have to give me leave to date?" Y/n was incredulous. "Who did you take me for? Your daughter?"
"I took you for my best friend" protested Jisung. "I need to make sure you don't get hurt!"
Y/n laughed, but it was not an honest laugher; all the times she'd secretly cried herself to sleep because of the awareness Jisung would never like her back as she did all came rushing to her mind, and although she knew she was over that now, it took all her strength to hide the tears with amusement.
"I say we both take our paths" she said, her voice slightly screeching. "I handle me and Seungmin, and you yourself and Minho" she then quickened her pace to part as much as she could from the clueless friend.
"Y/n, wait! I didn't mean it like that!" it was clear that this was not what Jisung had wanted. "I am sorry, I am so sorry... you are my friend!"
"I am not your friend" not always, not now. "There's Felix. Go to him".
