Y/N sat in the back of the classroom, trying her hardest to ignore the babbling professor at the front. Her quill scratched across the page, but her notes weren't exactly about the lecture. Instead, she was sketching. A dragon. Tarin, to be specific.

Professor Kettleburn's voice rang out, distracting her briefly as he launched into another lecture about the so-called magical creatures. "Today we're going to talk about two of the most fascinating dragons in the magical world: Tarin and Adarna."

Y/N's eyes narrowed, and her pencil paused mid-drawing. Here we go, she thought. The usual bullshit.

"Tarin," the professor continued, unaware of the eye-roll creeping onto Y/N's face, "is a massive, black dragon known for his sheer strength and ferocity. His scales are as dark as the night, and his fiery temper is legendary. It is said that only the most skilled wizards can approach him without suffering from his wrath."

Ferocious? Y/N thought with a quiet snort. She couldn't keep quiet any longer, muttering to herself just loud enough for a few students nearby to hear, "Ferocious? More like a giant pain in the ass."

She resumed drawing, her pencil flowing over the paper as she sketched Tarin, not as some terrifying, fire-breathing monster, but as the temperamental yet oddly affectionate dragon he was. There was no legendary wrathβ€”just stubbornness and an odd form of love she could never quite explain to anyone who wasn't her.

"And then," Kettleburn went on, "there's Adarna, the magnificent dragon known for her speed and agility. She can fly faster than any broomstick, and her feathers glow with an otherworldly light when she's happy. Some even say it's like an aurora."

Y/N's eyes twitched, and her pencil halted mid-motion. Glow? More like hell, Adarna's just loud and demanding. This is insane.

She muttered under her breath, loud enough for her friends around her to hear, "Glow? More like hella annoying."

She could feel the glances from her classmates, but she didn't care. They could sit there, scribbling down notes on glowing, mythical creatures, but Y/N knew the truth. Tarin was a grumpy, stubborn beast who followed her around like a shadow, and Adarna? She was chaotic, noisy, and way more of a handful than anyone realized. They didn't glow; they caused trouble and then expected Y/N to fix it all. Still, despite it all, Y/N wouldn't have traded them for anything.

But there was only so much of this nonsense she could take. Her hand flew across the page, sketching Adarna in all her chaotic gloryβ€”her wings drawn mid-flap, her tail curling like a snake, not a glowing light in sight. Y/N's frustration grew, and she could practically feel the absurdity of the lecture eating away at her patience.

"And it's believed that Tarin and Adarna form unbreakable bonds with their human companionsβ€”bonds that are magical in nature, greatly enhancing the magical power of the human they bond with," Professor Kettleburn said, finally wrapping up.

Y/N stood up abruptly, her chair scraping noisily against the stone floor. Her eyes flicked to the professor as she grabbed her bag and slung it over her shoulder, already done with the class.

"Y/N, where are you going?" Kettleburn called out, a hint of concern creeping into his voice. "Class isn't over yet."

Without a second thought, Y/N turned toward the door and, in her most casual tone, replied, "I'm going to go fuck my boyfriend. He has a free period, and honestly, I've had enough of this crap about Tarin and Adarna being magical saints or whatever. It's all wrong, and I'm not wasting my time sitting through it."

The class went completely silent. Y/N didn't care; she just walked out, her steps purposeful and unbothered. She heard a few students whispering behind her, but she couldn't bring herself to care. She was done.

Her mind already started to wander as she made her way to the Slytherin common room. Mattheo. That's who she needed. She'd spent enough time with dragons today; now, she needed a break from the madness.

When she reached his private dorm, she didn't bother knocking. She opened the door with a quick turn of the handle and stepped inside, her presence immediately noticed as Mattheo looked up from the couch, his usual smirk playing on his lips.

"Everything okay?" he asked, eyes gleaming with curiosity.

Y/N didn't answer him right away. Instead, she dropped her bag carelessly onto the floor, walked straight over to him, and plopped herself down onto his lap, not caring if anyone had seen her storm out of class.

She sighed, leaning back against him. "Honestly? No. The lecture was so fucking annoying. The teacher kept talking about Tarin and Adarna like they were these magical glowing creatures, and I just couldn't take it anymore. So, I came to fuck. Now, do what you do best, baby."

Mattheo's grin widened, clearly amused by her bluntness. "You've got a way with words, don't you?"

Y/N shot him a mischievous look, her hands already beginning to pull him closer. "If you're not going to fix my mood, I'll find someone who will."

He chuckled low, running his fingers through her hair as he leaned down to kiss her. "Guess I better not waste any time then."

She smirked, feeling all the irritation from the class melting away as Mattheo kissed her deeper, his hands roaming and pulling her closer. Whatever magic they had together was far better than any lecture.

As the world outside their little bubble of chaos disappeared, Y/N couldn't help but feel grateful that at least some things were as they should beβ€”intense, unpredictable, and, most of all, hers.
