Mattheo entered the dorm quietly, his eyes searching for Y/N, who had mentioned earlier that she was going to take a nap after finishing her TikTok. He smiled to himself, knowing how creative and unpredictable she was. Y/N was always doing something new, something that caught his attention and left him in awe. But as his gaze landed on her figure, lying peacefully on the bed, he froze.
Her makeup was nothing short of spectacular. The "arrow" through her eye, another piercing through her neck, with fake blood dripping down. There was a small, jewel-encrusted box beside her, and Mattheo's heart stuttered as he noticed the fake heart inside. It was a disturbing sight, one that instantly sent a cold rush through his veins. It looked so real, too real.
His mind raced as his stomach twisted in knots. For a split second, he thought the worstβhad something gone terribly wrong? The arrows through her neck and eye seemed too lifelike, too perfect. Panic rose in him as he quickly stepped closer to her, his heart hammering in his chest. He couldn't understand it. She had been fine when she'd left earlier. She'd sent him a message saying she was taking a nap. But seeing her now, unmoving with those lifelike arrows through her, it felt like his worst nightmare come to life.
"Y/N?" he called, his voice faltering as he stood by her side, trying to calm his nerves. "Y/N, wake up... please."
He reached for her, shaking her gently, his fingers trembling. His breath quickened, panic creeping up his throat as he saw no movement, no sign of her coming back to consciousness. The silence in the room seemed deafening, and it felt like time had stopped completely. Why isn't she waking up? Why isn't she moving?
His gaze flicked to the fake heart in the box beside her. Oh god, what if this is part of the makeup? His hands reached out instinctively, pressing gently against her neck to check for a pulse. His heart felt like it was about to burst from his chest as his fingers grazed her skin, desperately hoping to feel some sign of life. But nothing.
"Y/N!" he shouted now, his voice thick with desperation. His eyes darted back to the arrows through her skinβthere was no way this was just makeup, right? It was too real. Too perfect. His stomach dropped. The thought of losing her... No, I can't lose her.
Without thinking, he rushed out of the room, his footsteps pounding against the floor as he grabbed his wand. His heart was still racing, his mind foggy with dread. He cast a diagnostic spell, praying for a sign that she was okay, but nothing changed. The arrows, the blood, the heartβthey all still looked so real. He felt the blood rush to his head, his panic beginning to cloud his thoughts.
He rushed back to her side, his hand shaking as he touched her face again, this time firmer, trying to rouse her. "Y/N, wake up, please. Don't do this to me," he muttered under his breath, his voice strained with fear.
Finally, her eyes fluttered open slowly, the hazy look of someone just waking up from a deep nap. She blinked a few times, clearly disoriented. Her eyes met Mattheo's, and for a moment, they both just stared at each other in silence. The confusion in her eyes seemed to melt into recognition as she saw the panicked expression on Mattheo's face.
"Mattheo?" she murmured sleepily, her voice thick with drowsiness as she stretched out and yawned. "What's going on? Why are you freaking out?"
Mattheo took a shaky breath, his chest still tight with anxiety. It felt like his heart had just been on a rollercoaster and was now slowly returning to its normal rhythm. His hand still hovered near her neck, almost afraid to touch her. He didn't know what to say at first, his mind struggling to catch up with the reality of the situation.
"Y/N..." He had to swallow before speaking again, his voice quiet but full of emotion. "You scared the hell out of me." He gestured wildly at her makeup. "You... you looked like you were dead. I thoughtβ"
Y/N blinked, then slowly raised an eyebrow as she took in the sight of herself in the mirror. Her makeup was flawless, but Mattheo's reaction was more intense than she'd expected. She let out a small, tired laugh, realizing what had happened.
"I'm fine, Mattheo. It's just makeup," she said, her voice soft but filled with amusement as she touched his arm. "It's part of my Snow White cosplay. The whole 'what if Snow White had actually died at the hands of the Huntsman' thing. I thought I'd go all out with the makeup. It's a little dramatic, I guess." She motioned to the arrows through her eye and neck. "The heart is part of the prop for the Evil Queen."
Mattheo's breath came out in a long, shaky exhale as he processed her words. He stared at her for a long moment, his heart finally beginning to settle, though his hands were still a little unsteady. He reached for her again, his fingers brushing her cheek this time, a silent need to make sure she was okay.
"Why would you make it so... lifelike?" he asked, his voice low, the concern still evident as he took in the fake blood dripping down her skin.
Y/N chuckled softly, a playful smile spreading across her face. "I didn't think it would freak you out this much." She shifted, sitting up and pulling the jewel-encrusted box closer to show him. "It's for the TikTok. I thought I'd get a good reaction with the whole 'Huntsman brings the Evil Queen Snow White's heart' scene. You know, a little dramatic flair."
Mattheo ran a hand through his hair, his breath still uneven. "You can't just do that to me, Y/N. I thought..." His voice trailed off, and his shoulders slumped. He was still a little rattled. "I really thought you were..."
Y/N met his gaze with a softness that only she could pull off. She reached for his hand, squeezing it gently. "I'm sorry I scared you. I didn't mean to. I just... got carried away with the look. But I promise, I'm okay." Her smile was reassuring, and for the first time, she noticed how tightly he was holding onto her hand.
Mattheo exhaled deeply, his heart still not fully at ease, but his eyes softened as he looked at her. "You're lucky you're cute," he muttered, a teasing grin appearing on his lips despite the lingering tension. "Otherwise, I might've actually had a heart attack."
Y/N rolled her eyes playfully. "You know you love me," she said, leaning back into the pillows.
"I do," he said quietly, brushing a stray lock of hair from her face, his tone softening as he leaned in, pressing a gentle kiss to her forehead. "Just... next time, maybe warn me before you look like you've been murdered."
She chuckled, wrapping her arms around him, feeling the familiar comfort of his presence. "I'll keep that in mind, Mattheo. But you have to admit, it was pretty cool, right?"
He leaned back against the bed, still shaking his head but smiling at her. "You're insane. But you're my insane."
Y/N grinned and snuggled closer, feeling a deep sense of relief now that the panic was over. "I promise no more heart attacks... for now."
"Good," Mattheo said, his fingers gently trailing through her hair as they settled into a comfortable silence. "But you have to stop doing things like this. I'm too young to be having heart problems."
Y/N laughed softly, her eyes fluttering shut as she drifted back to sleep, her mind at ease knowing Mattheo was there.
