Y/N was beyond exhausted. Between the constant noise of the boys asking about her renovations, the never-ending questions, and the pressure of always being "on," she had reached her breaking point. All she wanted was a moment of peace to finish her work. So, when she heard the familiar sound of Mattheo's voice coming from the other side of the door, she snapped.
"Y/N! Open up!" Mattheo's tone was firm, but she could hear the concern underlying his voice. "What's going on in there?"
She leaned against the door, rubbing her temples as she tried to calm the rising frustration inside her. "I don't need your shit today, Mattheo," she muttered under her breath. But of course, he didn't hear her. Instead, she could hear the sound of the boys continuing to knock and shout, not even giving her a moment to breathe.
"Y/N! Let us in!" Enzo called, his voice starting to rise.
She clenched her jaw and stood up straighter, her exhaustion fueling her anger. She didn't want to deal with them. She didn't care that they were worriedโshe just needed a goddamn break.
"Are you serious right now?" Y/N yelled back, her patience snapping. "Do you not get it? I'm. Tired. I'm trying to finish this shit without you all barging in every five seconds!"
The door rattled as someone tried to open it, but she had locked it tight.
"I swear, if you don't stop banging on the door like a bunch of idiots, I will hex you into the next century," she growled.
Blaise's voice came next, a mix of amusement and confusion. "What's going on in there, Y/N? You've never snapped like this."
"Don't push me," she snarled, her voice dripping with venom. "I swear to Merlin, I will hex you all so hard, you'll be limping for days. Just. Leave. Me. The. FUCK. Alone."
There was silence for a moment, before Mattheo spoke again, his voice soft, but filled with a mix of concern and wariness. "Y/N... please. Just open the door. We're not going anywhere until you do."
Her anger flared again, but this time, it wasn't just irritationโit was the kind of tiredness that made her feel like she was at her absolute limit. Y/N slammed her fist against the door, her voice rising with every word.
"Open the door? You want me to open the door after the way you've been acting? You think I'm some sort of damn robot that can just keep up with all your bullshit without losing it? No! I need space. I need peace. I need to not hear your voices for five minutes!"
Mattheo's voice was quieter now, almost a whisper. "Y/N, we're just worried about you."
"Worry about yourselves for once!" she snapped. "I'm not your fucking therapist. I'm not your personal stress ball. I need a goddamn break from all of you!"
She stormed away from the door, her heart racing with the frustration she hadn't let out until now. The boys stood there, unsure of what to do, but they had finally gotten the message. Y/N wasn't going to let them in until she was good and ready.
As the silence settled, Y/N could hear them retreating down the hall. It was only then, in the stillness of her own space, that she let herself take a deep breath, her shoulders sagging in exhaustion. She was done. She just needed a moment to breathe and finish what she had started without any more interruptions.
She was done being the strong one.
