Your phone was placed down on the table. You made sure to put it away from reach so you wouldn't get distracted. This essay wasn't going to write itself.

You had your laptop, water bottle, and notes with you. You were more than ready to get this essay done.

While you were heavily focused and suffering from writing the essay, an unwanted person walked into your room. It was your mother.

"Y/n, my shift starts soon so I'm off to work, ok?" She said while creaking the door open. "Okay," you replied with your eyes still fixated on the laptop.

You heard her click her tongue and approach you from behind, causing you to turn your head around to face her. "Look at me when I'm talking to you," she said while grabbing your chin. "Sorry."

Then she suddenly changed her hostile attitude to a kind one. "It's okay, dear." She placed a small kiss on your forehead and patted your head.

Heading back to the door, your mother turned around to face you again. "By the way, you don't still talk to that boy, do you?" she asked out of nowhere.

You took a deep breath and sighed. "Why?" You avoided the question.

"Just answer the question, dear, haha," she said with a forced laugh.

"I— do," you mumbled. Your mother approached you from behind again and brought her head down to your eye level. "Didn't I tell you to stay away from him?" She narrowed her eyes at you.

"I'm sorry but he's my— friend," you avoided eye contact with her, though you could still sense her anger towards you. "I don't care. He's dangerous. Stay away from him."

Your mother then sighed and ruffled her hair. But soon, you could see her frown switching to a smile once again from your peripheral vision. "I'm your mother. I know what's best for you, dear. Just listen to me and stay away from him. Tell me you will. Cmon, say it," she patted your head again.

You continued avoiding eye contact but knew what you had to say. "He's not dangerous," you mumbled.

"Ha?" She raised a brow. "You don't believe your own mother? What kind of daughter doesn't believe her own mother? Y/n, if you don't stop talking to him, I'll have to interfere, haha, don't make me do that. Just do as I say!"

You tapped the desk in frustration and then looked at her with resentment. "Alright fine," you quietly mumbled.

"Say it louder and clearer, dear. Promise me you won't talk to him again," she ordered.

"I promise I won't talk to him again," you said, raising your voice a bit.

You could hear the woman laughing a bit after hearing you. "That's a good kid. I'll go now. Goodbye," she said while leaving the room. "Bye," you looked back to your laptop.

After your mother left, you tried focusing on your essay to get your mind off of what she had said but you weren't able to. You kept thinking of your mother's words and what would happen if she ever found out about you and Scaramouche.

Letting out an exhausted sigh, you bent your head backwards on your chair.

'I never should've let her see him.'
