Yoohyeon's POV
"Yoohyeon, your...your mother... left us. Forever."
"W-what?" I asked him. It sounded in almost a whisper. I was frozen. My legs were wobbling. And soon gave up. I fell on the ground and all I could feel was my broken heart. It hurt so much. I was crying helplessly on the floor. And later on, on the hospital too. I said my last goodbyes to her and then, uncle offered me to come to his house. I agreed. I needed someone by my side. We were both crying all day. I had texted Dami earlier that my mom left us and I had to go see her for the last time. And also, her funeral was going to be tomorrow at 4 pm. I was so broken, so helpless, so lonely now...
The next thing I remember was me on my mom's grave. Saying my last goodbyes to her once again. I was crying so hard. I remember the girls hugging me and trying to comfort me. But it was useless. I was crying there for hours. I was alone. I was left alone. And I thought everything was going to be fine. I thought, when the doctors said that she moved her finger, that she might wake up soon. Guess I was wrong...
Hoping was useless. Hoping was such a silly thing to do. Hope was... such a dumb thing to believe in...
And months passed by. I was closed up to my apartment. Not talking to anyone. Not even Dami. I didn't even know where my phone was. I was so lost.
"This can't continue Yoohyeon. If you won't go to college anymore, you have to come to the agency at least. It will help you distract your mind." Taeyeon told me once. And I heard her. I was lifeless anyway. So sacrificing my life to help others was the only thing I could do for my life to be meaningful. To help others too.
It was summer time when Taeyeon aunty gave me a really dangerous task. This time I wasn't going to stay at the agency. And this time, it had to do with a really familiar person to me. Lee Siyeon...
(Ignore Minji please. She is not there with Yoohyeon of course! I just couldn't include a picture with Yoohyeon and not Minji next to her. I'm such a huge JiYoo shipper, lmfao XD)
I was wearing my black suit, my hair in a high ponytail. My face serious as every other time. I was waiting at Taeyeon's office for my team to arrive. Soon, Taeyeon came in with some men that were wearing black. She told us what we had to do and then left. We took our black big van and left to go to the house we were sent to.
"Good morning Miss. Jeon. You called agents to come and protect your house cause you felt threatened. We are here." One of the men I had to cooperate said. She welcomed us and we went in. We started putting cameras all over her house and searching for hints. Soon, I had view of every corner of the house. And as I was working on my iPad, Siyeon came in the house. She saw the men and then she saw me too. She was shocked.
"Yoohyeon? What are you doing here?" She asked me.
"I'm working with them." I simply said. She rushed to me and hugged me when she realized I was really there. I hugged her back.
"How are you?" We both said. We laughed a bit and then started talking. She said she left. For everyone's good. She needed time for herself. She went to another college that was near her aunt'a house and she had tried to focus on studying more. Yes, Miss. Jeon was her aunt. She was doing fine and she missed us all.
"I learnt about... Your mother. Are you alright? Is my father alright?"
"I... I'm fine now. I don't know much about your father. He was hurt too. But I think he is fine. That's what my mother would want us to be anyway. She would want us to be fine and keep living our lives normally as before."
"How is... Bora?"
"I don't know. I'm sorry. I was staying at home all this time. I started working to the agency to distract my mind of my thoughts and my broken heart recently. Few weeks ago to be exact." I said. She nodded.
"You still love her?" I asked her.
"Of course I do. She is the love of my life."
"And what about me?" I asked her hopping she was over me.
"I... I still don't know. I know I don't feel the same. But... You'll always have a special place in my heart." She said truthfully. I nodded. It wasn't bad. It was actually a good thing. And just like that we caught up on things.
I came every day to work at her house and I would tell her any news I heard. I wasn't planning to talk to the girls yet. I needed more time. And I needed to finish this dangerous task first. Then, everything would be settled again and I could talk to them peacefully. Siyeon agreed with that. She even told me that when the task was over that she might come with me too. To tell Bora that she was the only one for her. And if Bora didn't want her she would go away. Forever.
But things never goes how you want them to. And an ordinary morning, as I was walking to go to Siyeon's house, I almost stumbled on... Minji...
"Yoohyeon? Is that you?" She said. She was frozen. And then, she hugged me. Tightly. If you ask me where she was all this time, I'll tell you that she was texting me every day and she was knocking on my door every day. Same goes for Dami. But I never talked to any of them. I know it was harsh and rude towards me. But I needed time for myself.
"Where were you? How are you? I was so worried Hyonnie." She sounded so tired. I felt so guilty suddenly.
"I'm fine. How are you unnie?"
"I'm not fine. Everything seems so empty without you. I am also trying to help Bora every day. She changed Yoohyeon ah. She is so cold towards everyone. Even to me. How are you... With..."
"I'm fine. I took my time to think and cry for my mom. But now... I'm fine." I said knowing exactly what she wanted to say. Our connection was still there. And I couldn't stop looking at her pretty face. It hadn't changed. But at the same time it had. In a good way. She became even more pretty. I missed her. So much.
"Why are you wearing a suit?" She asked me then.
"I was actually... Going to work. Do you... Want to come over at my place in the evening? To catch up...?" I asked her afraid of what she will say. I wasn't the one suggesting things and I wasn't the bold one either.
"Yeah sure. See you then?" She said smiling a bit. I smiled back. I started walking, passing by her.
"I missed you..." She said before I was going to leave. I turned back to look at her.
"Me too..." I mumbled softly. She smiled even more and I smiled too. It's good to see you again Minji. And especially smiling.
___
"Any news?" Siyeon asked me. She took her cup of coffee and sat beside me looking at my laptop. She couldn't understand much of my work. But she tried nevertheless.
"I saw Minji today. And... I told her to come over at my place. To... catch up..." I said drinking my own coffee. I wasn't the type of person who liked coffees. But as much more I was working, I needed something to keep me up. And something to drink also. I could even say I was kinda addicted to it.
"What? Yoo? Are you even hearing yourself? Minji? When, what, how?" Siyeon bombarded me with questions. I laughed a bit and was about to tell her when...
"What are you guys talking about?" Siyeon's cousin said as she came and sat next to us.
"It's not the right time Heejin! Yoohyeon and I have some important and personal stuff to say. So can you pleeeease... leave us alone?" Siyeon said. I chuckled. Heejin scoffed.
(Yes, she's Jeon Heejin from Loona. I couldn't just not add at least one of them since I'm crushing so hard on them for the last... three months or something. Lmao, I think I'm going crazy, don't mind me.)
"You're soooo nice unnie! So lovely and not rude at all!" Heejin said, forming a big fake smile on and then became serious again. I laughed more to that. Well, that was always their relationship. Always bickering with each other.
"It's fine. I don't mind Heejin knowing anyway. She's your cousin, not a stranger." I said. Siyeon sighed and gave up.
"Fine fine! Now tell me!" I laughed again and started telling them everything that had happened with me and Minji.
___
That night, me and Minji sat at my couch and talked about what we did in those six months. Of course I didn't tell her about the agency. I didn't want her to worry. I just told her something about computers and offices which was true. Well, a part of it. We weren't that close like we used to. Maybe because we were afraid that things changed. But when she was about to leave, she turned back and looked at me hoping for me to tell her to stay. I wanted to tell her that too. But... I was once again afraid. And also... It was too early. Too late. I didn't know anymore. So I just... Let her go...
___
Few days later something unexpected happened. Someone entered Siyeon's house. It was night time and her her aunt and uncle were sleeping. I was at my apartment too, sleeping. When one of my men called me. I came as fast as I could. The cameras were blocked and we could see nothing. I tried to fix them but the system they had used to hack them was even higher than ours. It was too complicated to fix it and it would take time. And we didn't have plenty of that. We went quickly inside. We heard a noise somewhere upstairs and we quickly went to search all the house. I took a few men with me upstairs to the room we heard the noise at. And there, we saw two men in all black with black masks in their faces trying to steal something on Siyeon's uncle's office. They took out their guns and we took out ours. They shot first so we started shooting back. But they hid. We hid too. It was a game of hide and seek now. Cause they managed to leave the room. We started chasing them but at the same time hiding too.
I was at the living room when a shot came exactly next to me. I hid under a table and started shooting at where the shot came from. At the same time, some of my men had taken out of the house Siyeon, Heejin, her aunt and uncle.
The shot came from the kitchen. The disadvantage of mine was that I was better as a hacker than as a bodyguard that knew how to fight and kill. But if I had to do it to protect someone then, I would do it.
I shot a few times. He shot too. One of my men came to help me but he got shot really soon. Fortunately he got shot on his leg. I shot a few times again and I shot the guy on his arm. He stopped a bit but then, I got shot by another one on my stomach. I yelled in pain and lied down unable to move. They tried to escape and that's when I managed to shoot both of them at their backs. They ended up falling on the floor, dead.
Then, after a while, men from my agency came in checking the house. They said they had caught one of them and the others were dead. When they saw me there struggling to breathe they ran to me and got me carefully out. When Siyeon saw me with blood all over my stomach she screamed in fear. I smiled at her telling her that it was ok. She didn't believe me of course. They took me to the hospital and that's when everything became black.
___
I woke up at a hospital bed. I looked around me trying to get used of the heavy bright lights.
"You are awake!" Someone shouted. It was Minji. What was she doing here? Siyeon...
"Are you feeling any pain?" She asked me immediately. And that brought me back memories from the very first time she took care of me in that rainy Monday. I smiled at her.
"I am. It hurts a little. But I'll be fine."
"There are some men outside and one woman named Taeyeon. They told me that they want to talk to you when you will be awake. You never told me you worked at an agency. Your father's agency. And that you were protecting Siyeon. If Bora knew Siyeon was in danger she would have killed her instead of them! You are lucky I didn't tell her. And if you are asking me, yes Siyeon told me everything. She felt that she should tell me. That's what she said." I nodded.
"I was so worried Yooh. I thought... that you left me." She whispered. Her eyes got teary.
"Shh... I'm fine." I said and held her hand tightly.
"Oh. You are awake! That's good news. How do you feel?" Taeyeon asked me. She had just got in.
"I'll leave you two to talk. I'll be outside if you need me." Minji said and left.
"I'm fine. What happened? Did that shit talked?" I asked her.
"He did. He said everything. And we arrested his gang too. Everything is under control and you can go back at your ordinary life."
"How many days was I sleeping? And also,... Why and what did they wanted to steal from Siyeon's uncle?"
"You were sleeping for three days. And they just wanted to steal some important files. He is a businessman like her father. But those files where really important. They were chemical files that could be used as bombs. Siyeon's uncle is a chemical and he works at one of the biggest research centers in Korea. Which by the way is under her father's company." Taeyeon said. She informed me for some other things too and then left. If you also are curious about what was Bora's father's job I would tell you that he was a businessman too. The poor girls had father's businessmen. And it wasn't that pleasant. Siyeon's father was a good man. But he couldn't be there all the time for his children. If you ask me about Minji's father... I didn't know. I learnt about him later. Minji never talked to me about him so... It was a mystery for me. But if you ask me about Bora's, well, he had big dreams for her. He was a good man. But he loved money and fame so much. That's why I called them poor girls...
Minji came in again. And that was the right time for me to tell her everything about my past. It couldn't wait anymore. And I knew she was dying to know...
