"Y/n!" you heard Yoimiya call out your name as your eyes fluttered open.

You were in your dorm room not so far away from the campus. It's been about a few days and you haven't shown up at all which was concerning to the point that your friends had started barging into your dorm room but you wouldn't let them in. It was only Yoimiya who got in as she was close enough with the ladies at the counter to get a hold of a duplicate of your key.

Thank god she came through. She felt like a bright light saving you from such a dark nightmare. Literally. Your breath hitched, sweat on your forehead glistening under the lights in your bedroom. You sat up straight, a melancholy feeling in your heart as a heavy weight hung on your shoulders.

Yoimiya rested a hand on your lap as she looked at you worryingly. She wasn't speaking nor was she forcing you to speak. Instead, she waited for you to regain your composure and get comfortable enough for you to start talking.

"I remember it all now." her eyebrows raised as you spoke. Remember? All of it? Is that why the nostalgic aura around you has vanished?

"Remember?" she asks, hoping for you to elaborate more.

"Everything. The accident, the breakup, the things I've done to him," you stated, eyes looking down at your plain hands. Tears were forming at the ends of your eyes as you felt so disappointed in yourself. "I didn't know that I could be so suffocating."

"I didn't want our relationship to fall apart but with every effort I did, it just ended up breaking so much worse." you sobbed, tears already falling to the backside of your hands as you still hung your head low. "I hurt him so bad. We both lost ourselves and I still made it worse. I would get so angry at him for even the littlest of things and that made him so sick of me."

"I need to apologize to him." you sniffled, before wiping the tears from your eyes before tempting to stand up.

"Y/n!" Yoimiya stops you as she pulls at your hands.

"Yoimiya, don't stop me! I've hurt him so much, it's time I apologized!" you tried pulling your hands back but her grip was too strong.

"Did you forget what he did to you too?" she said, bringing you back to your senses. "You were only like that because you felt scared and he couldn't even notice it! In the time you needed him the most, he was nowhere to be found."

"But in the times he needed me, I wasn't there either! What difference does it make?!" you yelled, tears falling again as you sobbed softly.

"You're right! You two were losing yourselves, Y/n. If you want to apologize to him then at least talk to him first." she said, the grip on your wrist slowly loosening. "You two have a lot of undiscussed feelings and you need to talk about it so go to him right now."

You looked at her, a sign of help to at least give you a hint about where he was.

"The soccer field near the stadium. He's with the others who're waiting for the firework show to start," she said, handing you a jacket she quickly got from your closet. She looks at you with encouraging eyes before hugging you.

"Make things right, Y/n."

You ran and you ran. Out of the dorms, past the main building to the large soccer field. You could see plenty of students gathered out under the starry night sky. Mats sprawled on the grass field as some were taking a picnic and laying down while the others spoke with each other, having an amazing time bonding with the people they cared for.

Your heart aches seeing several couples sitting together, hand in hand and loving gazes in their eyes. They were so happy, you resented them for that.

Your eyes scanned the whole place to look for him. Your heart tightens as you spot him far away from the crowd, all alone in the higher hills of the grassy field. You ran towards him despite being so tired. Your feet ached yet you kept on going because you didn't want to spend another minute regretting everything.

"Kunikuzushi!" you called out his name. That was his real name, the one you used to call him all the time.

His eyes widened as he heard the yell. He turned his head and he saw your figure running towards him, out of breath yet you still kept going.

"Y/n-"

"I'm sorry!" you cut him off before he got the chance to speak. "I'm so sorry for everything."

He was taken back. Were you sobbing? Why were you apologizing?

"I hurt you so bad, I didn't know I was too much for you to handle." ah, so it's about that. "I did so many things to hurt you and yet you still chose to stay till your patience ran out."

"I am so sorry for putting you through so much pain!" tears were already pouring from your eyes down to your cheeks. Scaramouche hushes you as he places a hand on your cheek, wiping the years away.

"Y/n, what's this?" he asked in a rather gentle voice.

"Did you remember everything?" you could only nod as you sobbed even more. He was silent for a while. Never did he think that he would receive an apology for the things he went through. He didn't expect an apology because at some point, it was all on him for staying but it still felt refreshing to hear it. Although, he did make some mistakes worth apologizing for anyways.

"I should be asking for your forgiveness as well," he said, pressing his forehead against yours. "I know how much you treasured our relationship yet I was still petty enough to just push your buttons."

"And I promise you, you were never the reason why I was sent to the hospital without you knowing." your eyes looked up at him, wondering how did he know about that. He only ushered you to not worry about it.

"And I swear to the gods above that I never wanted to kiss another girl like you." right! The kiss that led to your break up. It happened when one day, a random contact sent a message to you saying that your beloved boyfriend was a cheating scum along with a picture of him kissing another woman. You also remembered how you barged into his apartment, yelling at him and not even giving him a chance to explain.

Ah, yes. Lack of communication. That was also why your relationship went downhill. You jumped to conclusions way too quickly and you wouldn't tell him that it bothered you, that's why you would spend your time overthinking.

"I didn't even give you a chance to explain." you sobbed.

"It's alright. All is forgiven, baby." he shushed you as he wiped another tear that fell.

"I just wanted you to know that that girl had only wanted to harm our relationship. She set the whole thing up in hopes that you would break up with me and I'd come running to her." you looked at him, eyes practically asking if he ever did run to her after your break up.

"I ran to no one after breaking up with you," he whispered. "All I wanted to run to was you."

You cried even harder as you hear his words. He panics before retrieving his hands from your cheeks to wrap them around you in an embrace. It's funny how all your memories came back in such a short amount of time yet you feel like such a different person. Maybe all you needed was that incident to help you realize your mistakes and look out for them.

"Calm down. It's all over now. We can be safe now and we can just be in peace- I mean, it's not that I'm saying we should get back together! We can still be frie-" he panics as he realizes what he said.

"A year," you uttered.

"What?" he looked at you with confusion.

"We went through so much mess and trouble. I think it wouldn't be right if we acted rationally." you looked at him. The real him that you could never and you would never forget. Dark clothing, red eyeliner at the tips of his eyes, soft and silky raven hair, and his beautiful indigo eyes that could compete with the night sky.

"Give me a year to recover from all this. Let's give ourselves that time to heal and we'll see just what happens." you looked at him with a gentle smile.

He didn't utter a word. Bewildered at the fact that you were two already forgave each other. You were scared that maybe he hadn't liked the idea? Maybe you were just assuming that he wanted to get back with you and that in honesty, he had only treated you this way because of the incident that happened when you walked all alone at night.

You were taken out of your hurricane of thoughts as he uttered your name. "Y/n."

The faint cheering of the gathered students in the field was heard, counting down from a timer that was projected on a large screen. His eyes stared at your soul and once more, they were filled with magic. No malice, no other thought behind them but just pure sincerity.

"Thank you," he uttered before nearing his lips towards your face. You thought he would go in for a kiss but you felt the softness of his lips on your forehead, a small peck before he looks at you with a genuine smile. Such a beautiful smile.

As if on cue, fireworks started to go off in the sky. It took over the dark atmosphere and painted it with such liveliness and color. It was almost comparable to your relationship with Scaramouche. He was the night sky and you were the firework that brought life and color to it.

Your eyes sparkled under the lights that went off, different colors with each explosion. Scaramouche could never ask for anything better. He was willing to wait, and he knows that time could change people but he only hoped in his heart that you would still love him just as he did.

For you, he would wait for a lifetime.
