She sat on the couch, never taking her eyes off of the small rectangular screen. The brightness of it burned her eyes and made her head hurt, but still, she wouldn't dare look away or stop what she was doing.
It was too consuming for her own good. A light breeze seemed to go past her, causing the woman to shiver. She rolled her eyes, annoyed by his presence.
“What is it?” She asked. Maestro stood behind the couch, leaning down and looking at her laptop screen. “Can I ask what that is?”
“It's a laptop,” she said in a 'isn't it obvious?' Tone. He stood straight up and walked around the couch. He simply shrugged at her answer, his eyebrows raising. “Oh right. I forgot you died back in the 1900s or something.” The spirit shook his head, a small smile on his face. “I died in 1886, but that is close enough.”
She went back to watching the device. He stood there and watched her. Y/N sighed, unnerved by his eyes on her. They never looked away. “Do you want me to show you how it works?” Maestro tilted his head slightly. He was curious. -Always curious,- she thought, annoyed. “Well?”
Maestro sat down next to her. “Sure.” He was hesitant. A part of her found it endearing that he was willing to learn about something he'd never seen or heard of before. Not that this surprised her.
She taught him how to type and search stuff up. There was so much to do on a laptop, so she wasn't gonna teach him everything in one sitting.
“And yeah, those are the main things you can do. You can also watch videos, movies, and play games with other people. I'll teach you those another time, though.” She stood up and tried to gauge his reaction. His eyebrows pointed down as if he was angry or frustrated. She grew nervous. Maybe she shouldn't have tried to teach him about technology.
His brows lifted, and so did his mouth. He smiled widely at her. “This is…astounding! I'd love to know more about this!” She laughed at his response. She patted his shoulder. “And I'd love to teach you more. Any question you have, just type it in the search bar, and it'll be answered!”
The spirit paused, shocked. “Is this witchcraft?” He asked slowly. Y/N shook her head, giggling. “Nope. This is our future. Now, I'm gonna go get dinner started and call Vir in.”
“Wait!” She stopped abruptly and turned around. “What is a movie?” Her mouth opened slightly, then closed. “I'll tell you later. Just know you'll love it just as much as my laptop.” He nodded at her, and she exited the room.
His pale, slender fingers moved gently over the keyboard, feeling the hardness of them. He thought he felt his heart swell as he thought over two words the woman said that stood out to him. He repeated them quietly.
“Our future.”
