Aurora quickly scrambled out of the elevator and towards Xavier's room, dodging everyone and everything that was in her path. When she got near, she could hear shouting coming from his room—not that she was surprised.

"I'm fucking fine, now tell me where the hell Aurora is before I sue your asses."

She paused in the doorway as she stared at her angry boyfriend. He was sitting up, screaming at the doctors and nurses who were crowding him. His parents were in the corner watching the scene unfold as if it were the most normal thing to witness.

Aurora felt her eyes begin to water as the emotions finally came crashing down on her all at once.

"Mr. Knight, you need to calm down-"

"Don't fucking tell me to calm down when-" He paused when he finally noticed Aurora standing at the doorway. He took in her disheveled stated as her tears began to make their escape. He beckoned her to him, opening his arms wide.

"Come here, sweetheart."

His words were enough to break her out of her trance and she quickly ran to him, launching herself onto him as she cried. He let out a soft groan when he caught her in his arms, embracing her tightly.

"You idiot," she bawled, causing his eyes to widen slightly. Well, this wasn't the 'hello' he expected to come out of her mouth the moment he woke up.

Isabella and Alexander watched them with soft knowing expressions on their faces. It soon turned into amusement as they watched their son get scolded by Aurora. And despite her rambling, he was listening to her words carefully. One by one, everyone began to leave the room, wanting to give the couple their space.

"You fucking idiot," she repeated, smacking his chest. Her words were jumbled as she quickly ranted, venting her frustration out on her attentive boyfriend. "You could've gotten even more hurt. I mean, what were you thinking?— no, you weren't thinking at all. You would've been fine if you had just stayed in your seat and sat still—we both have. But no, you have to play hero and act all macho and now, look where that got you. You were unconscious for a day, Xavier—a day. I love you and I won't be able to handle it if you get hurt again. Do you have any idea how worried I was? God, you're so frustrating and stubborn—you make me so angry som-"

Xavier captured her lips with his, effectively cutting her off from her ranting. Aurora's eyes widened with surprise, but she slowly began to kiss him back. It was a kiss of passion, one that held all the emotions the two of them were feeling. He brought his hand up to cup her face gently as he deepened the kiss.

He drew back, spending a moment to stare at her face. He watched as her cheeks reddened under his intense stare. Xavier gazed at her lovingly, his eyes softening with tenderness as he gently wiped away her tears. He tilted her face and kissed her again, this time his lips more demanding. He showered her with gentle and soft kisses, each with its own flicker of warmth.

Breathlessly, Aurora pulled back to gaze up at him as his arm tightened around her waist.

"What did you say earlier, love?" He mumbled, brushing away her hair from her face as he continued to study her.

"God, you're so frustrating sometimes?"

"Before that, sweetheart."

Aurora tilted her head in confusion. "You always play hero and look where that got you?"

Xavier chuckled, placing a kiss on her neck. "After that."

"I love you."

He smiled as she finally got it, demanding her to repeat those exact three words. "Say it again."

"I love you," Aurora blushed as she stared up into the eyes of the man that she loved with all of her heart. There was no doubt or hesitation behind the words that she spoke from the bottom of her heart. "I love you so damn much."

"I love you, too, baby," he whispered, bringing her closer as he kissed her again. God, he just couldn't get enough of her. The way she felt pressed flush against him. The way her soft lips moved in rhythm with his. She was his and he was hers.

And even though it was his first time saying the words to her, he knew deep down he had already loved her.

Pulling away once again, Aurora glanced up at him with a content smile on her face. Her heart was filled with happiness and warmth at their confession. It wasn't exactly the way either of them pictured their first time saying those three words, but even then, they understood. She softly caressed his face, watching as his eyes never once left hers.

"Oh my god," she exclaimed, coming to an abrupt realization that she was literally on top of her injured boyfriend. She tried to push away from him, but his strong hold prevented her from getting anywhere. "Let go, Xavier. You're injured."

"I'm fine, love," he reassured as he felt her relax in his hold. He nuzzled into the crook of her neck, planting a soft kiss there. "Are you hurt?"

He quickly lifted his head and looked her over, checking to see if she had any injuries before making his way back to her face.

"I'm fine, just a little sore," she glanced down at his wrapped left leg that she had missed in her assault. "You're the one with the broken foot."

"Sprained ankle, actually," he corrected her before going back to study her face with intensity. "I'm glad you're alright, love."

She glared up at him. "And you would be too if you-"

"Sweetheart, I'm fine, okay?" He reassured for the nth time, making her slap his chest, a pout forming on her face. "Ouch, injured person here."

"Don't do that ever again," she scolded. But all Xavier could focus on were her lips that were practically asking for a kiss. Xavier smiled as he stared lovingly at her. She looked like a kitten when she was angry. "Xavier, did you hear what I just said?"

"Mhm, you know I can't promise that," he leaned down to place kisses on her neck, going up to her ear. Playfully, he bit her lobe, causing her to slap his arm lightly. "You look so cute when you're angry."

Grumbling, she shifted in her position, trying to get more comfortable without hurting his leg.

"You didn't sleep last night," Xavier stated worriedly, staring at the eye bags that were forming under her eyes. He already knew the answer even before she replied. Shifting in his position, he scooted to the side and pulled the blanket so that it wrapped around the both of them.

"What are you-"

He wrapped his arms around her waist again, bringing her closer to him. "Shh, sleep."

"But-"

"Sleep, sweetheart," he commanded, tightening his hold on her. "I'll be here when you wake up."

With a grumble, her eyes drooped as exhaustion took over. He soothingly ran his fingers through her hair as she drifted off into a deep slumber. He placed a kiss on her temple, mumbling his promise.

"I'll find out who did this, baby."

"Did you find out who did it?"

Xavier glanced down to make sure he didn't wake Aurora as he spoke. She was now lying completely on Xavier, with her face nestled onto his chest. His hand gently traced circles on her exposed thigh, wanting to feel her.

Aurora had slept through the majority of the day, not even waking up once as family and friends came and went. Honestly, Xavier was getting worried at how much she was sleeping, but he knew she had to be exhausted from the accident and all the overwhelming emotions she had been feeling.

His parents had stepped back into the room after getting breakfast, making sure that Xavier was okay. Isabella had mentioned that Aurora had been glued to his side ever since the day before, unable to sleep with all the worry she felt.

Maddie visited with Stephanie after they had gone home to pick up Colton. They each held a bouquet of flowers, and Xavier smiled, knowing it was for the sleeping beauty perched on his chest. Even Colton held a bouquet in one of his tiny hands while his other held his favorite blanket.

Not knowing what was going on, Colton was still as happy as he could be—making sure to leave behind his marks on his uncle's cast. He didn't exactly know how to sign his name, instead, leaving random squiggles and lines of red and blue all over the white bandage.

Elijah picked up Megan from home and headed to the hospital immediately. Being the sweet girl that she was, Megan brought a bouquet for Aurora and the newspaper for Xavier in case he was bored. And indeed he was since Aurora was still in deep sleep. Both signed Xavier's cast, much to his dismay.

He couldn't even stop Elijah when the sneaky little bastard wrote, "Glad you are okay, my beautiful Aurora. Call me when you wake up xoxo," even leaving his number under the message. And it was his cast for fuck's sake.

Sadly, he couldn't even strangle his brother because he didn't want to wake his beautiful girlfriend who was now snoring peacefully on his chest. He vowed to kill Elijah once Aurora woke up.

Even Aurora's parents stopped by, chuckling as they watched their daughter snore away without a care in the world. They had brought delicious homemade food, saving Xavier from consuming the horrible hospital food. Her parents stayed a while, with Heather peeling fruits so that Xavier could get all the nutrients to heal faster.

All of this happened with Aurora still deep in her sleep, not knowing what was going on around her.

Even now as the men discussed the so-called car accident, Aurora remained completely knocked out. Ethan, Damien, Lucas, and Liam sat around Xavier as they discussed what had happened. Jackson had briefly left the room to take a phone call from the security team as they continued their investigation.

"Well, we know that it was a hit and run," Damien stated with an edge to his voice. He was angry at whoever was responsible for this. All of them were.

Xavier shook his head in anger. "It was definitely intentional. I saw them cross the yellow line and speed up when they were coming at us."

"But who would want to hurt both you and Aurora?" Ethan pondered but ultimately knew the answer. There were many people who would want to hurt Xavier because of his position and wealth. But Aurora, on the other hand, was an angel and it was hard to imagine anyone who would try to hurt her.

"Dumb question," muttered Lucas, earning an eye roll from Ethan. "The real question is who'd you piss off this time?"

Xavier thought back for a second. The list could go on. From terminated business deals to the jealousy of his business empire since the time he took over as CEO, he had made so many enemies. But because so many people were afraid of Xavier, no one had ever attempted to try anything.

"I think we all know he pisses a lot of people off," chimed Liam unnecessarily.

The men continued to murmur amongst themselves until Jackson came in with a blank expression on his face. He wasn't a man of many words and his loyalty was unquestionable when it came to Xavier.

"Sir, we found who did it," As soon as those words left his mouth, the chatter disappeared, leaving an eerie silence in the room. "Luckily, there were cameras at the intersection and they caught a clear image of the license plate as well as the perpetrators' faces."

Xavier tensed as so did the other men in the room. "Who was it?"

"Joseph and Cynthia, sir. Cynthia was the one driving."

The silence was deafening. It hung in the air and lingered. You could practically hear a pin drop. The men watched Xavier carefully, almost as if they were afraid he would burst. But oddly enough, he was calm.

Xavier clenched his jaw in anger. He was furious— no, he was seething. The fact that those two had almost succeeded in doing more damage angered him. He could care less if he had gotten hurt, but more importantly, Aurora could have gotten seriously injured or worse. This infuriated him.

"Did they find them, yet?" He tensed, taking a deep breath to calm himself before he did something rash. The men watched Xavier carefully, knowing that calm Xavier was the deadliest.

"No sir," Jackson looked down not wanting to face his boss' wrath. "But we have the entire team working on it. The police department is on it as well."

He fisted the white sheets in anger, desperately wanting to punch something or certain someones. Almost like she could sense that he was angry, Aurora sighed and moved in her position, causing all eyes to shift to her. Still, in deep sleep, she pulled the blanket closer to her, feeling a chill in the air.

Xavier unclenched his fists from the sheets, bringing his hand to softly brush the hair out of her face. He placed a gentle kiss on the crown of her head, making her snuggle closer into him. The men released their breath, seeing the effect she had on him even in her sleep.

"Find them," The tone in his voice was ice cold. "And when you do, tell Josh to schedule a meeting with the police commissioner. I want to make sure they don't get out anytime soon."

"Yes sir," Jackson nodded before exiting the room again, bringing his phone to his ears as he immediately began to shout orders.

Xavier sighed. He knew that his security team was more than capable of finding the two who had caused this mess. And they would be properly dealt with.

But right now, his focus was on his girl. The one sleeping soundly without a care in the world.
