"Bitch, we fucking did it!"

Daniel grinned excitedly, pulling Aurora into a hug. After months of renovations, the Knight Hotel she had been working on with the team was finally finished. Tonight was the night the hotel was reopening and what better way to celebrate than with a "small" opening event.

"And I still can't believe that hunk of a man is yours," Daniel whispered excitedly. He turned her so they were facing in the direction where Xavier stood talking to a few important looking men. One of them being their boss, Liam. "Like god damn, tell me where I can find one."

Aurora rolled her eyes, slapping her friend's arm. "How is that so hard to believe?"

"Because," Daniel sighed with exaggeration. "It feels like it was just yesterday where you were saying your ideal man was a guy who looked good in jeans. But I'm sure with that ass he do be looking fine in jeans."

"He does look pretty good in jeans," Aurora murmured, agreeing with Daniel. "I think Maddie mentioned something to him a couple of months ago and all he would wear was jeans around the house."

Daniel pouted. "You two are fucking cute— it's kind of sickening."

It was almost a month ago where he witnessed their love first hand. Xavier had come by with lunch and it just so happened that Daniel was in the office with her. He watched as they couldn't keep their hands to themselves and despite being offered to join them, he instead, chose to escape the love fest. But he did have to admit— the way Xavier looked at Aurora every single time was every girl's dream.

He looked at her with so much love and affection, like she was the center of his universe. Daniel could hardly believe that this was the ruthless and cold man, Xavier Knight was rumored to be. Although, he did honestly wonder how they weren't sick of each other yet despite practically being with each other 24/7.

"But," Daniel continued, wrapping his arm around Grace who stood watched their exchange with amusement. "We're really happy that you're happy. Right, Gracey?"

Grace nodded with a genuine smile on her face. "Of course. I'm glad you aren't forgetting to eat your meals on time and that you're not spending all-nighters at the office anymore. I doubt Mr. Knight would even allow you."

"You guys say that as if I'm a child," pouted Aurora, grabbing a small appetizer from a waiter's tray as he walked by. Her expression brightened as she chewed, happy that there was now food in her stomach. "And you're right Xavier would probably drag me out of my office himself."

"Jeez, no need to rub it in our single ass faces," Daniel sarcastically said with a playful tone. He bit his lip as he looked towards Xavier's direction once again. "We get it, he's caring and hot— you're one lucky bitch. But I do have to admit, even after all these months that man still be looking fine as fuck. Wouldn't you agree, Gracey?"

Aurora shook her head as she threw her head back in laughter. Leave it to Daniel to say things like this. But the man was right. Her boyfriend was fine as fuck.

"I guess," mumbled Grace, feeling a bit shy being put on the spot.

Daniel clucked his tongue before sharing a knowing look with Aurora. Grace looked at the two with confusion, wondering what was going on.

"Obviously she doesn't agree because our little innocent Gracey has her eyes on someone else."

"S-shut up," Grace stammered, slapping Daniel on the arm, causing the poor man to screech dramatically. "I do not."

"Please," Daniel rolled his eyes. "It'll be easier just to admit it, Gracey."

"Whatever," Grace's cheeks flushed red with her friends' teasing. She quickly changed the subject back to Aurora. "I'm happy someone's taking care of our clumsy and forgetful Aurora— did I mention you left your keys on the coffee machine again a couple of weeks ago?"

"Oh don't even get me started on that," muttered Aurora, taking a sip of the much-needed champagne. "Xavier gave me an earful and I swear even my parents couldn't save me from his nagging."

"He's just doing that because he loves you," winked Daniel, looking behind her.

"He's right," Xavier's sudden appearance caused Aurora to jump in her spot with surprise. An arm wrapped around her waist, pulling her back so she was flushed against his chest. "I can practically hear you talk about me from across the room, love."

Busted.

"We weren't talking about you," Her eyes widened as she looked at her colleagues for help. "We were just... talking about how amazing the weather is tonight."

"Baby, we're indoors," chuckled Xavier with amusement. A small playful smirk appeared on his face knowing he had caught her.

"And it's raining outside," added Daniel, completely ignoring Aurora's plea for help.

Aurora sent her friend a glare, feeling the betrayal. "You're supposed to have my back." She whispered hastily as Daniel grinned smugly. He couldn't help but be on the adonis' side.

"Well, since you weren't discussing me and my nagging— which I only do because I love my beautiful girlfriend," Xavier gave Aurora's waist a little squeeze. "What were you guys talking about?"

Aurora pouted. Well, it sounded bad when he worded it like that.

"We were just talking about how beautiful the renovations turned out," answered Grace smoothly. It wasn't exactly a lie since they were talking about it right before Xavier became their sole topic of discussion.

"Well, I can't disagree. It did turn out beautiful and exactly how I pictured it— maybe even better," smiled Xavier, leaning down to place a kiss on Aurora's forehead. "You guys did an amazing job and I'm considering a longterm contract with Liam for further projects."

Aurora's eyes widened with surprise as she turned in his arms. "Really?"

Xavier nodded, a beautiful smile spreading on his face. "Really."

"And not just because I'm your girlfriend?"

Xavier chuckled. Liam was a good friend and an amazing architect. Not just him, but all of the people under him, including his lovely girlfriend, had amazing skills and work ethics. "Not just because you're my girlfriend. I actually have a new hotel I'm planning to open in Toronto."

She smiled as she turned back around to look at her friends with glee. All three of them couldn't even believe their ears— to have Knight Industries as their client would definitely boost the firm as a whole despite already being world-renowned. Smith Architects would be able to expand internationally and gather more clients around the world, allowing them to open firms overseas.

"I still can't believe it's finally done," Grace sighed, gaping up at the tall ceilings of the grand ballroom. "It feels like yesterday we were just surveying the site."

"It does doesn't it," smiled Aurora, proudly. "We sure did an amazing job."

"And this was before you two were even together," Daniel smiled at the beautiful couple. Time sure did pass quickly.

"You two should go enjoy yourselves," Aurora suggested, smiling at her two friends.

"Are you sure? Should I get you anything, Aurora?" Asked Grace, wanting to be there for Aurora as her assistant.

Aurora smiled at her gratefully. "No, you go have fun, Grace." She nodded towards the direction of a certain male Grace had been eyeing since earlier. Grace was oblivious to the stares Jackson had been giving her as well. "I'm sure a certain someone is waiting for you to approach him."

Grace's face turned a bright red, looking a bit hesitant.

"Go," encouraged Xavier with a small smile— one that he wasn't keen on showing others. "He's been eyeing you the past hour."

Xavier could tell that Jackson had been interested in the girl for the past few months now. Although intimidating and cold, Xavier could tell that the man yearned to be loved and cared for.

Grace bit her lip and nodded. She nervously began heading in the direction of where Jackson stood, staring at her intently.

"Farewell, my little duckling," Daniel dramatically sighed before turning back to Aurora. "Damn it, even little Gracey is getting more action than I am. I'm going to go find myself a hunk of a man— I doubt they'll be able to resist my charms."

Aurora giggled as Daniel eyed the room like a predator would a prey. "Go before they're all taken, Danny boy."

"Say no more," Daniel quickly downed his drink as he left to go find himself a man. "Better beware, ladies, because they're all mine, tonight."

Aurora laughed as she watched her now tipsy friend saunter away. Turning again to face Xavier, she reached up to fix his tie.

"Don't think I forgot about what just happened, love," he murmured, watching her intently with gentle eyes.

"Did I mention how handsome you look tonight?" Aurora bit her lip, looking up at her boyfriend. He looked amazing tonight with his hair styled back and in one of his expensive Armani suits.

He chuckled, knowing exactly what his girlfriend trying to do. "That's not going to work, love."

Aurora pouted, as Xavier leaned down to place a gentle peck on her lips. He couldn't help it— she looked fucking adorable with her lips pursed together. Not to mention beautiful in the satin evening gown that she purposely wore to tease him.

It was a satin off-the-shoulder trumpet gown that framed her figure perfectly. And the side slit that showed off her leg— Jesus, imagine sitting on the bed and your girlfriend comes out of the closet looking like a goddess. Xavier almost choked on the water he was drinking as his eyes remained glued onto his beautiful girlfriend. He could barely keep his hands off of her even before they had left the house.

"Just wait til we get home," he murmured, just loud enough so that she could hear. "You're in trouble tonight, sweetheart."

Aurora's felt her face redden from Xavier's suggestive promise. And it definitely wasn't from the alcohol.

"I don't think I'll be complaining. And besides, you know I love you and your nagging," she grinned cheekily, kissing his lips. Even in a ballroom full of people here to enjoy the grand reopening of the hotel, the two of them seemed to be in their own little world.

"Aurora," Isabella's voice appeared behind them. Aurora turned her head and her grin widened when she spotted the woman. "You look beautiful."

Isabella made her way towards the couple with her arm linked with Alexander's. Aurora quickly detached Xavier's arm from her before embracing Xavier's parents.

"And you look absolutely stunning, Isabella," And Aurora was telling the truth. How this woman had 6 children was still unbelievable.

Isabella grinned as she watched her son pull Aurora back so she was leaning on his chest, resting his hand on her waist again comfortably.

"I can see why Xavier won't leave you alone," winked Isabella, causing Aurora to blush. She nudged Xavier, yet he made no move to let her go. Instead, he gave her a cheeky grin before placing a small kiss on her exposed shoulder.

"This place looks amazing— even better than the original designs," exclaimed Alexander with a big smile. He had been impressed when he stepped foot into the hotel. It was completely remodeled, yet was still able to reminiscence some of the original designs. "You guys did such a wonderful job— I like how you integrated traditional with modern. And I hear Xavier's planning to sign a contract with Liam."

"So, I've heard," Aurora grinned bashfully, looking up at Xavier as he squeezed her waist. His eyes met hers and he gave her a gentle smile that she knew was reserved for her. "We've never had a long-term client before, so I'm sure Liam will be ecstatic would it."

"I'm glad," Alexander shifted his gaze between the two of them with a proud smile. "The old firm we worked with could barely get anything done. I'm sure Xavier wanted to rip his hair out every time we had a meeting with them."

"Well, I sure hope I don't make you want to rip your hair out," She looked at him with a playful smile.

"Only for different reasons, love," teased Xavier with a teasing smile. "Like when you try to play chef at home."

Aurora scoffed, slapping his chest. His parents had amused smiles on their faces. "I'll have you know I've been improving— you said so yourself."

Xavier chuckled, kissing her forehead. "I'm just joking, baby."

"Alexander is right, dear— this place looks absolutely amazing. I'm just glad you got rid of that awful tan wallpaper in the lobby," Isabella chirped. Her ears perked up when she heard a familiar song play overhead. "Look, darling, they're playing our song. Let's go dance."

Isabella quickly bid them goodbye before dragging Alexander towards the dance floor where couples were spread out.

Alexander shook his head, letting his wife drag him away. "What your mother wants, what your mother gets."

"Your parents are so damn cute," murmured Aurora, watching as Alexander gracefully tugged his wife close to him, both swaying to the music. She could see how much they loved each other even after all these years of marriage and she hoped that one day, that could be her and Xavier. "What are you thinking about, handsome?"

Xavier looked at her with a thoughtful look on his face before a mischievous grin appeared on his face.

"I was thinking that we should get out of here, beautiful."

She could still smell the rain in the air as the waves crashed against the peer. With their hands interlaced together, Aurora and Xavier made their way down the pier with ice cream cones in their hands.

Around her shoulders, was Xavier's suit jacket that he insisted she wore in fear of her catching a cold. He naturally generated a lot of heat from his body, so the cold didn't bother him.

"I can't believe we were here less than a year ago," she murmured, taking a bite of her cookies n' cream ice cream cone. It was the same pier that they had gone to after their first dinner together, which Xavier continued to insist was their first date.

Xavier chuckled as a bit of ice cream ended up on her nose. He reached over with a napkin to wipe it off, gently smiling as her nose scrunched up.

"Remember when I made you make a wish?" She continued, looking up at Xavier with content.

"Of course I do, love," he chuckled. "How could I not when you practically forced me to make a wish?"

She's jaw dropped before she reached over to slap his arm. "I did not— you hardly put up a fight. But tell me, what did you wish for?"

They were standing in the exact same spot, looking out into the dark ocean.

"That's a secret, sweetheart," he murmured, watching as Aurora pouted. She was always the type to be curious about everything, almost like a little kid.

"Why can't you tell me?" She asked, tilting her head curiously.

"Because."

She waited for him to continue, but he just continued to look at her with a soft smile. "Because? Come on, Xavier, tell me please."

"Always so curious," he murmured amusingly. It was almost like it would be the end of the world if he didn't tell her. Aurora continued to pout while finishing her cone and he couldn't help but think how beautiful she looked despite sulking.

"Did your wish come true, then?"

She looked up at him, eyes twinkling with curiosity. He couldn't help but give her a knowing smile.

"It did."

Aurora let out a dramatic sigh. "Now you're just making me more curious."

He chuckled, bringing her close to him. Leaning down, he captured her lips in a sweet kiss— one that made her toes curl with excitement. How in the world did she get so lucky?

"I love you, baby," he murmured against her lips when he felt her smile.

"I love you, too."

Xavier couldn't help but think how different life had become just within the past year. He was the happiest he had ever been and it was all thanks to his special someone. Before Aurora came along, he was always focused on work and only work. Now, he was able to enjoy the little things in life with his girl right by his side. And he couldn't be happier.

Because in the end, his wish had come true.

The love of his life was right where she belonged— in his arms.
