Marjorie held Reece in silence, truly enjoying each other's company. Marjorie felt her phone vibrating, so she gently sat forward and grabbed it out of her pocket, and answered it.
"About fucking time one of you answers." Autumn said, clearly frustrated.
"Damn, okay." Marjorie laughed. "Sorry. Reece had a moment, and we've just been sitting in silence. His phone is in the kitchen."
"Oh. Sorry." Autumn sighed.
"It's fine. He's okay now." Marjorie said, looking down at Reece who was smiling up at her. "What do you need?"
"Winter and I are on our way. We have something for you both." Autumn said.
"Okay." Marjorie nodded. "See you in a few."
"See you." Autumn said, hanging up the phone.
Reece looked at Marjorie, raising an eyebrow.
"Autumn and Winter are coming over. Apparently they have something for the two of us." Marjorie said, putting her phone on the couch.
"Okay." Reece said, sitting up and hearing the doorbell go off. "My god Auts driving scares me."
"Literally. I'm surprised she doesn't have any tickets." Marjorie laughed.
The couple walked to the door and opened it, to find Autumn and Winter each holding a little gift bag. Both were white, with Marjorie & Reeces names written on them in cursive. Autumn and Winter walked in the door, placing each bag on the counter. Marjorie and Reece just exchanged confused looks.
"These are for you." Autumn said. "I want you to open them both at the same time."
"Okay." Reece said, taking Marjorie's hand and leading her to the kitchen counter.
The couple stood in front of the named gift bags, each anxious to see what's inside. Winter looked at Autumn, nodding.
"Open them!" Winter said.
Marjorie and Reece both opened the bags, both containing small cards. Autumn stopped them both before they could open them, telling them to read them last. Marjorie shrugged her shoulders, pulling out a small, long box from her bag. Reece had the same box in his bag, each looking at the couple in front of them confused.
"For gods sakes just open the damn boxes!" Autumn yelled.
Marjorie and Reece both laughed, opening the boxes at the same time. In each box, were positive pregnancy tests. Marjorie and Reece both looked at each other in pure shock, not knowing what to say.
"You're—- you're pregnant?" Marjorie stammered.
"Yes." Autumn said, faintly smiling.
"I'm gonna—- I'm gonna be an uncle?" Reece asked, tears filling his eyes.
"Yes." Winter smiled.
Marjorie pulled Reece into a hug and held him tightly. Reece picked her up and spun her around, kissing all over her face. Autumn and Winter just looked at each other, smiling.
"Open your cards. There's something else in there." Autumn said. "Both of you have a little something different in there, and I want you to read them out loud. Marjorie, you start."
Marjorie sniffled as she ripped open the envelope, opening the card. She took a deep breath in, trying her best not to cry.
"Marjorie,
I would never say this out loud, or to anyone else, but I consider you my family. My best friend; my sister. I've watched you thrive over the past few years, gaining a newfound confidence. I'm proud of the life you've built. You've changed my brother's life for the better, as well as mine. You're a light wherever you go, Marjorie. I love you dearly. I would also like to ask you if you would be our child's godmother. You're headstrong, badass, fearless... but also kind, considerate, and loving. The kind of woman our baby needs in their life. Thank you for changing people's lives, Marjorie. You're one special person.
Love always, Autumn."
Marjorie put the card down and sobbed, covering her face. Reece looked at Autumn, tears stinging his eyes. She motioned for him to read his card.
"Reece,
I cannot thank you enough for protecting me my entire childhood. Hell, you still do. You defended my name all those years we didn't speak. That shows what kind of person you are. You're so amazing. I want to be you when I grow up. You've brought out the best version of Marjorie, and she's brought out the best version of you. I'm so proud of the person you're becoming, Reece. I would also like to ask you if you will be our baby's godfather. You're strong, feisty, fearless... but also so loving, patient, and sweet. The male role model our baby needs, (besides Winter obviously). I love you Reece, to the end of the earth and back.
Forever your little sister, Aut."
Reece started full on sobbing. He looked at Marjorie who was still crying, and then both of them looked at Autumn and Winter.
"Yes." The couple said.
"We'll be your baby's godparents." Reece said, his voice shaky.
Autumn looked at Winter with tears in her eyes, and hugged him. Marjorie hugged Reece, smiling widely at him. Reece lent down and kissed her softly, smiling back at her.
"Can I hug you?" Marjorie asked, looking at Autumn.
"Of course." Autumn laughed, wiping a stray tear that fell.
Marjorie let go of Reece and ran over to Autumn, practically tackling her. Autumn laughed and put her arms around Marjorie, hugging her tightly.
"You're gonna be the best mum ever, darling." Marjorie whispered. "I'm so incredibly proud of you."
"Thank you. You're gonna be the best aunt and godmother ever." Autumn whispered back, smiling.
Reece walked up to Winter and gave him a hug, which took Winter by total surprise. Winter laughed as he hugged Reece back. Reece pulled away and shook his hand, smiling at him.
"You'll be a fantastic dad." Reece said, trying not to cry again. "I'm so excited to see you two be parents."
"Thanks, Reece. It means a lot." Winter smiled. "You and Marjorie will be the best godparents ever."
Marjorie let go of Autumn and hugged Winter, also practicing tackling him. Winter laughed, hugging her tight.
"I'm so happy for you two. You guys deserve this." Marjorie said, smiling at him.
"Thank you." Winter smiled. "I'm so excited."
Marjorie and Winter both smirked at each other before jumping up and down and squealing, causing the siblings to glare at them. Autumn pulled Reece into a hug, which caught Reece by surprise.
"Thank you." Autumn said.
"For what?" Reece asked, tightening his grip on her.
"For being the best role model a girl can ask for, duh." Autumn said, pulling back.
"I'm so proud of you Aut." Reece smiled. "So incredibly proud. Thank you for letting me back into your life."
"Of course. What would I do without my brother?" Autumn laughed, before punching Reece in the arm.
Reece cradled his arm and started laughing, but quickly stopped and rolled his eyes.
"I knew you were gonna do that."
