Although it was rather chilly, Andi still brought a few blankets just in case they wanted to stop somewhere for a bit. They decided to bring the husky with them, they also dropped by at the shop to grab some snacks so they had something to munch on if they got hungry. After all they didn't have a specific destination so who knew how long their trip would last.
Maja slipped off her shoes and brought her legs up to her chest as she watched the scenery out of the window. She couldn't help, but think about how easily she agreed to going on a road trip and spending more time with Andi. Before he came, she was certain she didn't want to be around anyone, but the way Andreas comforted her made her feel like she was no longer alone.
The girl turned her head towards the blond as she heard soft humming coming from him. She frowned a little, since she didn't recognise the beginning of the song playing on the radio. He must have felt her eyes on him because he glanced over at her with a small smile.
"It's a song from me to you," he chuckled, turning up the volume.
She stared at him a bit puzzled, but that's when the boy broke out into the song. She finally recognised it as Count On Me by Bruno Mars.
Maja hid her face in her hands, shaking her head. Let's just say that Andi didn't belong to people with the best singing voice.
She lifted her head when he poked her thigh to get her attention. He knew what he was doing, he was trying his best to at least make the girl smile a little.
"You can count on me like 1, 2, 3, I'll be there.." He sang the chorus, making the girl cringe internally.
"Oh lord, please stop singing or I will cry again, but this time it'll be because of your singing!" She cried out, only making him laugh more. He poked her again and this time they made eye contact. He lost hope for a smile, but then she awarded his efforts with a small smile. She couldn't keep a straight face when he was being so adorable.
"You're an idiot Milka," she stated with a quiet sigh.
"Oh yeah, I know." He simply shrugged, a grin crawling onto his face. She was ready for a cheeky remark from him. "But I'm the best idiot you ever met." There it was. She was aware it wasn't much of a false statement either and the fact she didn't deny it, Andi took as a sign of victory.
They drove around for hours, listening to music and talking about random crap that came to their heads. Maja found it surprisingly soothing and the boy's company was really helping her to feel a little more at ease.
"You know I'm really thankful for what you're doing for me, right?" She asked, her gaze fixed on the mountain which they were currently driving by.
He looked at her for a second and smiled. "And you know how you can thank me?" He asked casually.
She instantly turned her head to look at him after hearing his words. "Well I'm a bit worried, but go on," she replied with a raised eyebrow.
"Please bring back that gorgeous smile of yours," Andi pleaded, before returning his eyes back onto the road.
Maja smiled as if on request, but turned her head away towards the window. If anything, he would be the one who brought back the smile onto her face. Andi caught a glimpse of her smile and his eyes lit up.
"Hey, since when are you so shy?" He chuckled, gently taking one her hands as he kept his other hand on the wheel.
"I've been shy forever, Andi! You just never compliment me like that!" She pointed out, making a frown appear on the boy's face.
"What do you mean like that?!" He questioned confused.
There was a moment of silence, before she answered. "You always say compliments as a joke, never seriously," Maja explained, biting her lip.
The music played softly in the background as silence fell between them again. Maja even began to regret saying what she did, but the boy was actually just thinking about her words careful.
"Oh wow, look at that mountain!" Maja pointed out suddenly, making the boy slow down so that he could also take a look at what she was pointing to.
"Do you think we could maybe drive up there?" She asked, looking into his blue eyes.
"I guess we have to find out." The blond smiled and he subconsciously gently squeezed her hand, before he let go to place his hand back on the gearstick.
It was a mountain like any other, but if she wanted to get up there, he was going to try his best and make that happen.
It took them a while, but it turned out that indeed they could drive up the mountain. They even found a prefect scenic overlook, so at Maja's request, Andi parked the car and they both headed out.
He grabbed a blanket from the back of the car and walked up behind the girl, wrapping it around her. The girl flinched, surprised by the sudden fluffy, warm material.
"What? Just because you're not actually ill doesn't mean I'm going to let you get ill." Andi laughed. He went back to attach the leash to Waffles' collar, so he didn't notice how the girl stared at him appreciatively, at this moment in time he was more appealing to her than the view from the mountain.
Andi eventually joined her side, of course neither of them could resist taking a few pictures of the scenery. They decided to take a seat on a bench they found nearby and wait for the sun to set, as it wasn't much longer for that to happen.
The girl swung her legs back and forth, lost in her own thoughts. She tightened the blanket around herself, completely not noticing the blond boy's eyes which were almost drilling a hole in her head.
"Do I really not compliment you seriously?" He asked. Maja snapped out of her thoughts and looked at the boy with an amused expression. Was he really thinking about this the whole damn time?
"I don't mind it Andi, our friendship is more fun that way," she assured.
"Yeah but it can be fun too when I tell you how perfectly that hoodie suits you, or how you have a really cute laugh," the boy smiled. "Apart from when you snort like a pig every now and then while you laugh too hard," he added with a chuckle, playfully nudging her arm with his.
"Damn, what a great best friend you are," she chuckled slightly.
The boy squinted at her, a grin slowly growing on his lips. "Did you just give me the title of your best friend?" He questioned.
She rolled her eyes. "The guy best friend, but I can easily change my mind," she shrugged, gently nudging him back with her arm like he did before.
They watched the sunset as it started taking place. Although neither of them mentioned it, they both experienced positive emotions while remembering the time they sat by the lake watching the sunset, side by side.
"You know," Andi began. "We are having this Christmas dinner party for the team, where we usually invite our closest family and friends, so I was wondering if you would like to be there?" The boy spoke softly, his eyes still fixed on the scenery.
"Oh yeah! I will be there," she answered, making Andi turn to look at her with an adorable smile. "Richard asked me to be his plus one," she announced.
"Oh, h-he did?" He stuttered out. "Of course he did, I'm glad you'll be there," he answered his own question. Thankfully the girl was no longer looking at him so she didn't see that something was off with his smile.
Andi was glad she would be there, but the oblivious girl had no idea that Andi wanted her to be his plus one, as friends of course since he wouldn't steal a potential love interest from one of his friends, but for some reason it actually made him more disappointed than if she would have rejected him. He really wanted to be the one to take her.
"Cookie?" Maja asked suddenly, snapping the blond out of his thoughts.
"No, thank you," he declined with a small sigh.
They sat talking for a bit longer. Just like he managed to take her mind off of her problems, she managed to take his mind off of the sad little episode that was going on in his head, which he didn't even quite understand himself.
"Andi, could we maybe go? I'm starting to get a little cold," she spoke softly after a while. The boy nodded in agreement, before they both got back inside the car.
They didn't speak too much on the way home, appreciating the comfortable silence. A few stolen glances and smiles were satisfying enough.
"I didn't realize how much I needed this, thank you so much," she sighed with a small content smile on her face.
"You're really strong, you know that right?" Andi glanced at her with a pleased smile. "I really admire you for that," he added. The blond surprised the girl by carefully taking her hand into his and pressing his soft lips to her knuckles, followed by one more kiss on the back of her hand.
She watched him perform the small and simple, yet very heart-warming gesture. If she wasn't so much in awe by the sweetness of the boy, she would have probably asked him to do it again, because right now he made her crave his lips on her skin more than anything.
For the rest of the drive home, Maja was lost in her own little world, trying her best not to think about Andi's warm, tender lips. She almost didn't even notice when Andi pulled up outside their block.
Maja carefully cradled the tired little husky in her arms while Andi grabbed the blankets and the leftover snacks. Together they headed up the stairs. Both of them were quite tired, but neither were ready to end the night already. That's why when they arrived outside of Maja's apartment, they both had hope the other would speak up and extend the time of their company.
"So I guess I'll see you tomorrow?" Andi said more like a question. "No more being sick, yeah?" He chuckled.
Maja opened the door to her apartment and let Waffles inside before she gently shut the door again. They had previously decided the puppy should stay with Maja from now on, so he could get used to it for when Andi and Stephan go away.
'Those goddamn eyes' she thought, looking up at the boy in front of her and almost groaning out loud.
"Can you-, do you think you could-," she struggled getting her words out. She huffed before finally speaking out the full sentence. "Can you stay? I need a cuddle."
Although Andi was hoping for something like this, he was still slightly surprised when he heard her words. He could see the girl was impatiently waiting for his response and a part of him wanted to tease her just a little, by not replying for even longer. "Of course I can," he smiled eventually, following her into the apartment.
"You know you still have some of the paint in your hair?" Andreas laughed, gently picking out some strands of hair which were still a lighter colour than the rest of her hair.
"Oh yeah? I wonder why!" She rolled her eyes, looking back at him over her shoulder. The boy just shrugged innocently in response.
Maja undressed herself in her bedroom while Andi went to the bathroom. She put on her pyjamas and jumped under the duvet, pulling it up to her chin since she was getting cold already. Of course Andi couldn't help but laugh at the sight when he walked into the room.
"Turn off the lights, I'll cover my eyes too," the girl ordered and it took Andi a moment to even understand what she was talking about.
"Are you serious?! I'm only taking off my hoodie, Maja." He laughed while the girl already had her eyes covered with her hands.
"I don't care!" She cried out.
"Unless you expect me to get naked, then I can surely do that for you," he teased.
"Don't you dare!" She gasped, shaking her head furiously, her eyes still covered.
She felt the bed dip beside her and Andi gently took her hands off of her eyes, but the girl kept her eyes squeezed shut.
"Maja! I'm not naked!" He laughed.
The girl slowly opened her eyes, noticing he was now covered with the duvet and the room was dark.
"Come here," he spoke softly, placing his hands on her waist, before he gently pulled her towards his body.
"You're so warm," she acknowledged as his bare chest pressed against her body. She noticed he wasn't wearing a tshirt, but he kept his sweatpants on. She wasn't going to complain, after all his chest and arms felt really comforting.
She couldn't bring herself to look into his eyes for longer than just a quick glance. Even though it was dark in the room, she could see how they sparkled brightly. Silence fell as the two relaxed in each other's arms. Andi played with Maja's hair, brushing his fingers through it slowly while the girl traced patterns on his arm.
Andi tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. "Going back to what you were upset about earlier, I just want you to know that you can spend Christmas with us. You are part of our little weird family now," he chuckled, but kept his voice down.
The brunette couldn't help but smile widely at his words. He didn't even realize how much that meant to her. On the other hand, she didn't realize how much it meant to him when she finally gave him a full, genuine smile he had been waiting for.
"That's so sweet Andi, I can't thank you enough" she whispered. His eyes caught hers and she found herself staring right into them for longer than she would have liked.
Andi didn't say anything. He just stared contently at the girl in front of him, appreciating the moment and her full smile which actually reached her eyes unlike the rest.
"I haven't seen a genuine smile on your face for days. I was so worried," he admitted. "I never thought I'd miss it so much," he whispered the last part, she could feel his warm breath on her lips. Who would have thought this cheeky boy could be so sweet?
Maja's face fell slightly. Talking about missing something, it hit her suddenly that the boys really were going away in just a few days. Obviously she knew about it, but it only just hit her how much she will miss them all.
"You're going away so soon," she sighed sadly, closing her eyes.
Andi immediately, but carefully lifted her chin, making her gaze meet his once again.
"Listen, you can call me any time you want. I don't care if I'm on the other side of the world. Hell! I'll be mid jump and I'll answer your call!" He chuckled softly, making Maja's eyes fall on his grinning lips.
"Stop saying things that make me want to kiss you," she groaned quietly without a second thought. The mixture of his sweet words and how close he was, was slowly driving her crazy.
"Kissing me won't make all your problems go away," he whispered, clearly noticing the way she watched his lips, which made him suddenly be slightly more serious.
"It might not make it go away, but it would put the sadness on pause for a bit, just like you managed today," she breathed out, once again without thinking it through.
"Well then you leave me no choice," the boy breathed out. "As your best friend it's my job to make sure you're happy."
Before Maja could even comprehend what was happening, she felt Andi leaning in. His eyes slowly fell shut and somehow she managed to mirror his actions. The girl's breath hitched as soon as his soft lips pressed against her own. He gradually began to move his lips, to which in response she did the same, both of them smiling into the slow, tender kiss.
"I'm sorry, I had to-," Andi whispered when he pulled back, but he was interrupted by Maja's lips which crashed back against his. He let out a muffled laugh into the girls mouth as they kissed again.
His hands found their way down to her waist and he gently brought her body as close to his as he could, making both of them tense up as a result.
This time the girl eventually pulled back when she needed to catch her breath.
They stared at each other affectionately, neither of them knowing how to comment on what they just experienced. Of course though, the blond boy couldn't pass up on a cheeky comment.
"I'm not entirely sure what best friends kiss like that, but I'm sure I can deal with it," he chuckled, Maja joining him.
She now knew for sure, this was what she needed for the past three years. Not necessarily the kiss, but someone who would listen and take care of her when she was down. It turned out she found help in a guy she didn't even know over two months ago.
Sometimes the boy would frustrate the hell out of her, but she knew if anything ever happened to him, she would be ready to do everything just for him to be okay, just like he would do the same for her.
"Remember when you came back from work and found me sleeping in your bed?" He suddenly asked, snapping her out of her thoughts . She gently nodded. "You said you'll beat me with a pan if you find me in your bed again," he laughed.
The girl chuckled. "I best go get the pan then."
