Chapter Fifteen

The next morning, Angie woke up in a fog. She slid out of bed, and went down stairs, rubbing her head. She didn't understand why she didn't feel good. She wasn't the one drinking, and shouldn't have had a hangover.

          "Morning Angie," Kate smiled.

"Morning," Angie muttered, sitting down at the kitchen table.

"Did you sleep alright?" Maya asked, putting a pancake on her plate.

"Angie hardly sleeps," Allie interjected, "If you hear someone roaming the halls late at night. It's her." Allie turned her head, and smiled at Angie. Angie gave her a weak smile back, and started to eat.

"Allie will you go wake up Jared?" Maya asked, "He's coming with us to the funeral whether he likes it or not. He's not coming later, or by himself, he's coming with us."

Angie's eyes widened, and she suddenly remembered everything that happened last night. "But I have to get ready," Allie complained.

          "Allison," Maya warned.

          "I'll wake him," Angie volunteered.

Everyone turned to look at her with questioning eyes. "Yeah, Allie has to get ready," Angie continued, "It won't take me that long to get ready myself. Don't worry; I won't take any lip from him."

Maya nodded, and gave her a small smile.

Angie took that as a go get him, and ran up the stairs. She walked down the hall, and knocked on the door. "Go away," Jared moaned. Angie sighed, and opened the door. "I said go away," Jared yelled, and then threw up into the trash can.

Angie closed the door behind her, and walked over to the bed. "What do you want?" He asked, giving her an evil glare.

"Do you not remember what happened last night?" Angie whispered, sitting on the edge of the bed.

Jared's eyes widened, and he muttered, "Oh God, what did I do?"

"Jared, you were very drunk. As you said yourself, 'you were drunk as a...uh drunk person,'" Angie told him, "Lisa apparently brought it, and you two were sitting on the beach drinking. I had to drag you back into the house."

He stared at her, and whispered, "Did I do that to your face?"

"No, that was Lisa," Angie assured him, "She punched me because you created that painting of me. It was awful Jared."

Jared groaned, and then threw up in the trash can again. "You need to get dressed, because you have to leave with your family," Angie told him, "And you don't want someone coming up here and seeing you."

He rested his head on the side of the bed. "What else did I do?" He asked.

"You told me I was pretty," Angie gloated, "Am I pretty Jared?" His eye peeked out, and he watched her.

"Yes," He whispered, and that was all he said. Angie decided she wasn't going to tell him anything else. She patted his back, and sniffed the air.

"It smells in here," Angie laughed.

Jared threw up again, and Angie held the bucket close to his face. "Jesus, it doesn't stop," Jared grumbled.

"It will," She assured him, "And that is why you brush your teeth for 10 minutes, and chew a whole pack of gum." He looked up at her, and struggled to give her a small smile.

"Thanks Angie," He whispered, and Angie sagged. She was back to Angie? When would it ever be the same between them? She did tell Izzy that she knew things wouldn't be the same, but that's what Angie wanted. She wanted that ever since she came here. She wanted her old friend back a desperately.

"I'm going to go tell everyone that you're on your way down," Angie muttered, and then got off of the bed. When she reached the door, she gave a brief look to the necklace hanging off the shelf, and winced as she heard Jared throw up again.

Angie slipped out of the room, and walked back downstairs. Everyone was still at the table, so Angie sat back down with them. "Well, where is he?" Maya asked.

"He's waking up," Angie told her, "He'll be down soon."

Maya nodded, and took that as an answer. Angie ate the pancakes that were left on her plate, and forgot all about her cheek. Well, that was until Kate brought it up. "Oh my God, Angie, what happened to your face?" Kate gasped.

Angie slowly reached up, and touched her cheek. "I scratched my face last night," She murmured.

"Oh when you fell in the hall?" Allie asked.

Angie smiled, "Yes. That was it. I didn't know I was hurt at the time though." Angie shrugged, and they- thank God- took that as an answer. Angie picked up her plate, and walked it over to the sink.

Jared slowly trailed down the stairs, rubbing his head. "Hi honey," Maya smiled, "Did you sleep alright?"

Jared looked up, and stared at Angie. He looked at her as if to say, "You didn't tell them?" Angie gave him a small smile and a shrug. Jared sat down in the chair, happier then he thought he was going to be. "Alright," He told his Mom, "Did you save any pancakes for me?"

Maya smiled, and whispered, "Of course."

When Jared came down fine and kind of happy, Maya became happy. She liked her son when he wasn't in so much trouble. She liked when he wasn't always so defensive. It made her extremely happy when he was happy.

They all got changed. Angie wore a black blazer with a gray shirt under, and black trousers. She wore the black heals she wore yesterday, and pulled her hair into a ponytail. Izzy smiled at her, put her arm around Angie's shoulders, and they walked out of the room together.

The car situation was the same, except this time Jared got in the car with his family. When Angie and Izzy were alone, Izzy muttered, "Something's up with Jared."

"What do you mean?" Angie asked.

"I just think something is different," She mused.

"Well I think he is just fine," Angie told her, "I like him better that way. I just wish he was like that more often."

"Don't get to attached," Izzy sang.

"Izzy, I'm eighteen, I can do what I want," Angie sighed.

Izzy rolled her eyes, and smiled. As they pulled further out of the long driveway, Izzy whispered, "At least he left his motorcycle at home."

Angie wanted to tell Izzy that she liked the motorcycle, and that she thought it was cool that he had one. But Angie new the response to that, well the one Izzy would give. Izzy would tell her that motorcycle screams danger, and Angie was not to mess with him.

"Yeah," Angie whispered, and looked out the window. She watched the rain fall, and a small smile crossed her lips. "Is it weird that it would rain today?" Angie asked.

Izzy looked around in a smile. "That's funny," She laughed humorlessly.

Angie looked out the window, and wished that the funeral was over. She didn't feel like crying, and she didn't feel like hearing crying.

Izzy drove a little, and then pulled into the church parking lot. People were filling into the church. They needed shelter before they went out into the graveyard.

          "Ready for this?" Angie asked.

"No, I've never been ready," Izzy sighed.

"Either have I," Angie grumbled, "But we have to go in."

"Or we could ditch this place, and go right home," Izzy volunteered. She looked at her younger sister with a fake smile, but Angie wasn't buying it.

"Come on Sissy," Angie sighed loudly, "Let's get this over with." Izzy nodded, and they got out of the car together, and ran to the church.
