Chapter Fourteen
There was a throbbing pain in Angie's cheek and she knew it would end up bruising. She looked up and saw a sour smile on Lisa's face and a pissed off look on Jared's. "What was that for?" He growled.
"How pretty is she now," Lisa sneered, "Pretty...pretty enough to draw now?" Lisa put her hands on her hips and gave Angie and evil smile. Angie stared up at her in horror.
Fury immediately sparked up in Angie and she could feel her cheeks burning. She wasn't about to let some unknown chick stand there and ridicule her like that...drunk or not. Jared held out his hand for her put she brushed it aside and stood up quickly. "You need to come the freak down," Angie growled, "Either leave the property or fall asleep drunk in the sand. I don't really care. Either way Jared's coming back inside with me. Bye."
Lisa frowned, and drank from the bottle. "Take that away too," Angie snapped.
"Yeah, you should leave," Jared nodded, stumbling into Angie a little. With an angered sigh, Angie slung his arm around her shoulders and held him up right.
Lisa glared at Jared and then turned her gaze to Angie. "You both are going to regret this," She snapped, "I highly doubt you'll be happy when I'm through with the two of you, Jared." Lisa sneered the last part and stumbled a little as she lost her balance.
"Go home," I ordered.
Lisa scrunched her nose up and looked at Jared. "Should I really go?" She pouted. Lisa reached forward and trailed her hand up and down Jared's arm.
Jared quickly jerked away, making both Angie and him stumble backwards. "I think you should go," He agreed, his voice becoming a little bit sober.
Lisa shot them both and angry look before she slowly stumbled away.
Angie wasn't sure where she was leaving, but she didn't care. She didn't care if she was acting like a Mom, or that she had no right to be bossing Jared or Lisa around. She knew that because of the way Jared was acting, there could be big trouble. Jared would be able to cause big trouble for the family, and slowly tear them apart. Jared was just being stupid, and Angie wasn't going to sit around and watch.
She straightened Jared's position and turned them around so that they could walk towards the house. "We showed her," Jared laughed, patting Angie's head.
"Mmm hmm," She muttered. Angie looked around and tried to think of the easiest way to get into the house. There really was only one way to get Jared inside without being caught and that was to go through the back door. There was this nasty creak on the front porch and everyone would have been able to hear them come inside. But then there was the matter of the dog, and Angie didn't know if she could stop it from barking. She chose to go through the back door anyway.
Gina growled.
"Shut it dog," Angie snapped, and the dog went quiet. It bowed its head and tucked its tail between its legs as it backed up. She slowly backed away from Angie.
"What did you say to my dog?" Jared grumbled, rubbing Angie's head affectionately.
Angie ignored him, and walked through the gate. The dog started to growl, but Angie gave it a deathly look. Jared reached out to pet Gina, but Angie tugged him along. "If someone finds us," She hissed, "You're dead, and I might be too."
Jared pouted, but followed her into the house. She looked around to make sure the coast was clear, before dragging him towards the stairs. She pressed him against the wall, and slowly pushed him up the stairs.
"This is fun," Jared laughed.
Angie stopped Jared, and pulled his face close to hers. "You're pretty," He murmured. She was flattered, but she needed to talk business. She grabbed his face with her hand, and forced him to look at her. His eyes wandered to the ugly scratch on her face, but Angie just ignored it.
"You listen to me," She hissed, "You are not to say a word, or you will get in so much trouble. I will make you hurt badly, and no matter how drunk you are you won't forget it." Jared's eyes widened, and he nodded.
They continued to walk up the rest of the stairs, and down the hall. Jared walked slowly, but then stumbled on his own feet, and crashed into the wall. Angie rushed forward, and picked him off the ground. He swayed a little.
"Good God," Angie muttered, "Be quiet, I'll be right there." She shoved Jared into his room, and closed the door right as Allie's door was opening.
"Something wrong Angie?" Allie yawned.
"Nah, just roaming," Angie explained, "I'm not tired."
"Do you not sleep at all?" She laughed.
"Nah," Angie sighed, "I don't even know why."
Allie shrugged, and rubbed her eyes. "Sorry I woke you," Angie apologized, "I tripped on my way back, and caught myself on the wall."
"I must be hearing things," She muttered.
"What're you talking about?" Angie asked.
"I thought I heard Jared," She explained.
Angie's eyes widened a little. "Ha-ha, nope just me," She told her.
"I don't know what I'd do if he got in trouble again," Allie sighed, "I don't even know how my family would be able to handle it. I guess I'm trying to tell you that I'm glad it's you, and not him."
"Don't worry," Angie murmured, "I'll secretly make sure he doesn't get in any trouble."
Allie gave her a weak smile, and said, "Thanks."
"Now you go back to bed," Angie assured her, "I'll make sure he doesn't get into trouble."
"But what if he doesn't want you too?" Allie asked.
"Don't worry," She whispered, "I'll keep it secret. He won't even know I'm watching."
Allie gave Angie a small smile, and then slowly walked back into her room. Angie listened carefully with the bionic ears that Jared said she had. She listened to Allie slowly lay back in her bed, turn over, and then turn over again, and soon she was asleep. Angie waited a few more seconds before slipping into Jared's room.
When Angie turned around, Jared was there, but undressing. "What're you doing?" Angie hissed.
"Getting in my PJs," He laughed, kicking his pants away. Angie quickly looked away.
"Well hurry," Angie growled, crossing her arms over her chest. Jared hummed to himself, and pulled up his checkered pajama pants. Then he pulled off his shirt.
"I don't wear shirts when I go to bed," He told her.
"You do tonight," Angie snapped. She turned around and picked up his shirt, before shoving it towards his chest. He smiled at her, his green eyes trying to focus on her.
"You don't like?" He smiled, and then swayed a little. Angie growled, and looked up at the ceiling.
"I can't believe this," She grumbled, and then started walking towards Jared. He held his arms open, but instead Angie pulled the shirt over his head. He fought her, but finally she was able to get him it on him.
"I wanna paaarrrrtttaaayyyy," He yelled, and Angie clamped her hand over his mouth. She gave him a warning look, and he got quiet. Angie pulled on his arm, and led him towards his messy bed. He fell on it with a crash, and started to laugh.
"Jared," She warned, and he got quiet. Angie picked up the blanket, and forced him to lie down.
"What's going on," He slurred.
"You need to sleep," She told him, "You are going to have a major hangover in the morning, and you're going to hate my guts."
"I, I could never hate your guts," Jared smiled, "You're...you're pretty. How, how could I be, be angry?"
"Just trust me," She sighed, patting his head.
Angie started to walk towards the door, when Jared called out, "Gela?" Angie smiled, and turned around.
"Yes?" She asked.
"Are you going to tell my Mommy on me?" He asked.
Angie gave a small smile, and shook her head. "No," Angie smiled, "Don't worry about anything."
Jared smiled, and pulled the covers close to his chin. "Thanks Gela," He whispered, and then closed his eyes. Before Angie knew it, he was out.
She sighed, and started walking towards the door, when she saw something hanging from a shelf. It was beautiful. Way to beautiful to be in someone like Jared's room.
Angie looked at Jared, and made sure he was asleep, before walking towards the thing hanging from the shelf. She squinted her eyes, and noticed that it was a necklace. It was a pale peach colored shell that wrapped around the string. The string was small, and looked like it would be tight around someone's neck.
Suddenly Angie remembered, and she looked from the necklace to Jared. She couldn't believe he found it. It scared her, and suddenly she wanted to get out of the room. She rushed out of the room, and into hers. She hid under the covers, and fell asleep thinking about what that might have meant.
