Ivy's POV

I glanced down at the giggling sister of the boy I happen to like as we were both stood with our backs up against the wall.

Skylar had found some old water balloons and had instructed me to fill them with ice cold water. It took me longer than I would like to admit filling them up, but we got there in the end. She then ordered me to call Jace down so we could drench him with the balloons. I felt like her partner in crime and honestly, I loved it.

With three balloons in each hand, we both stood there ready to fire.

"I'm here! Where are you guys?" Sky immediately started laughing. I nudged her with my elbow, and her green eyes bore into mine as she stopped laughing.

"FIRE!" Sky shouted when Jace walked out the back doors. He was wearing purple shorts and a white top. The white top became see through when the water soaked through the material.

Without any type of hesitation, he reached for Skylar and threw her over his shoulder. A mixture of giggles and screams came out of her mouth. Her legs frantically kicked in the air as Jace marched towards to pool.

Sky calmed down when Jace took her off his shoulder but that calmness was then replaced with high pitched screams when Jace held Skylar over the water.

"Jace, no! My cast!" Sky shouted. Jace promptly stopped, the playful look in his eyes being washed out with concern. He returned Skylar feet to the ground and let go of her.

Jace then turned towards me. A boyish and mischievous grin spread across his face as he began striding in my direction.

"I guess I need to find someone else to throw in the water instead."

"Run, Ivy!" Skylar shouted to me when Jace's speed walking picked up to a jog.

I ran in the opposite direction and towards the giant shed near the back of the garden. It was more like a hut than a shed with how big it was. I knew he was going to catch up to me, so I ran to the wooden hut. I got to the door. Luckily for me, there was no lock on it allowing me to throw the door open and to run in.

I stood in the same position I was when I ran in, facing the back wall. The feeling of his warm breath on my neck made goosebumps appear on my arms. I spun round on my heel so that I was face to face with him. He was only a few inches taller than me but every time we stood like this, I felt like he was towering over me.

"Remember what happened last time you ran away from me?" Jace said, his voice low and rough. How could I forget?

"Of course, I do. That's why I came in here," I breathed back. He leaned down and pressed his lips onto mine. They moved in synchrony, fitting like we were made for each other. My arms wrapped around his neck, one of his hands on my face the other on my waist.

In that moment, my mind drifted off, wondering if he would always make me feel like this. If I would always feel the way I do when he holds my face in his hand, when he kisses me as he is now and the surge of electricity I feel whenever he touches me.

"Jace, your sister is outside," I reminded him.

I felt him smile against my lips, "I know."

"She could walk in at any second."

"I don't care," Jace nonchalantly replied. I think she would care.

I moved my hands so they were flat on his chest and I pushed him away. He looked flustered and it was the cutest thing ever. I giggled when he ran his hand through his dampish hair and I flattened down my own.

"Jace, turn around."

"Why?"

"Just do it."

I jumped on his back, wrapping my legs around his waist and holding onto his shoulders.

"You're so heavy what the hell," Jace said after I was properly on his back.

"What the fuck?" I punched him on his shoulder in spite of the rubbish that just came out of his mouth.

He boyishly laughed, "Baby, I was joking. You're literally the lightest person I've ever held." What is this? Go from one extreme to the other?

"Okay, now you're just lying."

"How, Princess?"

"You just are," I replied out loud. "Now let's go before your sister gets suspicious," I whispered into his ear.

"Okay." His hands securely held onto the back of my thighs as he hoisted me up before walking outside with me clung onto his back.

"Ivy!" Skylar exclaimed when she finally saw us approaching the pool. She pulled at Jace's arms while kicking him in the legs. She tried pushing him with her only available arm, but wasn't successful in trying to stop him.

"Let Ivy go you asshole," she huffed. Her left arm was underneath her right. It looked like she was trying to cross her arms, but the fact that her left arm was locked into a right-angled position by the cast wasn't allowing that.

My mouth fell open. Did she really just say that? I slapped my hand over my mouth, trapping the laugh that was bubbling in my throat. I couldn't laugh otherwise she'll keep on saying it. Jace wasn't even shocked. He acted as if this had happened before. He released me from his hold, allowing me to climb off his back.

"Skylar, what did I say about saying that?" Jace was leaning down at her level, his voice laced with disappointment. Before? So, this has happened before.

Sky looked down at the ground. She was playing with her sleeves in the same way she was when I spoke to her in her room yesterday. "Uhh, not to?"

"Exactly. So, don't say it again, okay?"

"Okay," she replied sounding happier than 5 seconds before.

Jace stood up from his crouched position and looked at me. He rolled his eyes when he saw me stifling a laugh.

"Not such a good example now, are we?"

"Shut up," he demanded and stood on my left side.

I turned so my body was entirely facing him. I leant in next to his ear and whispered, "Make me."

I was ready to run when Jace's arms surrounded my hips and held me upside down on his shoulder. I tried wriggling out of his arms but it came to nothing. His grip was too strong. I relaxed in his arms when his shoulder began digging into my stomach.

"Jace." I got ignored.

"Jace, put me down." I got no answer again. Is he partially deaf?

"Jace. You're hurting me."

He put my feet back on the ground and stood in front of me. He held my face in his large hands as his eyes filled with concern scanned my face. He pulled me into a hug. I rested my head on his chest as I homed in on the sound of his heartbeat banging against his chest.

"I'm so sorry, baby. I didn't mean to hurt you," I heard the words vibrate from his chest as he kissed the top of my head.

I laughed against his chest, "It's okay. Your shoulder was digging into my stomach but I'm fine now." He pulled me back, holding me at arm's length, and searched my face.

"Jace! I'm fine. I swear."

"No one is fine when they literally say 'I'm fine'."

"Well, I'm amazing, spectacular, fantastic." I smiled sarcastically and put both of my thumbs up at him. All he did was roll his eyes and give me a disapproving look. I guess I deserved that.

I tried to think of a way to make him believe me when I came up with the perfect solution. I softly pressed my lips against his and caught him off guard. "Is that better?" I retorted with a smile on my face.

"Oh yeah. One hundred percent," he mumbled when he had placed his lips on mine again.

"Eww. You two are going to get married," Sydney sang whilst skipping in a circle around us both. I glanced at Jace and his cheeks had risen in colour and he avoided eye contact. He was embarrassed and it was the cutest thing.

"Just like you were going to get married to..." Jace put his hand over Skylar's mouth, stopping her from finishing her sentence. What!?

I laughed, "What? You were going to get married to someone? Funny one Sky."

I noticed Jace shift uncomfortably as Sky warily looked up at him.

I unintentionally end a lot of my chapters with cliff-hangers, so I end up having to edit them so it's not too repetitive hahaha.
