"Rosestar, welcome home!" cheered Birchheart. He was quite thrilled at being deputy but had quickly realised how hard leading was. Over the time some of the warriors had been away, Dovesong had moved into the nursery, expecting her mate, Rheedwhisker's kits. They were, according to Willowsky, due in two and a half moons.  The visitors, Snowflower and her son Jingles had left the Clan with new knowledge and a better understanding of Twolegs.

***************LATE LEAf-FALL (OCTOBER)******************

Leaves the color of the sunset soaked gold swirled from tree branches to join others- decaying on the forest floor. Wind made the trees shiver. Their tree branches shivered and shook. The sun's light shone bright and harsh upon the FireClan camp. Rosestar and Birchheart were up and, as the old adage goes, 'bushy-tailed', as it were. Rosestar murmered softly to her new deputy, and he nodded every so often. He was calling out orders to his Clanmates for the mostpart. There were no apprentices in the Clan, no kits, and only one she-cat expecting. The first frost had come, hardening the ground and chilling the morning air. The cats in the Clan could distinctly smell leaf-fall itself. (I'm sure you know, remember, like, perhaps, the smell of fall) Rheedfeather was leading a border patrol with his sister Dawnstreak and Moonshadow. There were two hunting parties sent out. Rosestar led the larger one. Her party held Iceriver, Shellheart, and Patchfur. Lightcloud's contained Leafpool, and Nightstream.

When the hunting parties returned, much praise was given to the hunters. Rosestar's group caught a rabbit, two voles, two mice, a thrush, and three shrews. Lightcloud's hunting party caught four mice, a blackbird, one shrew, and a very small mole. In conclusion, the fresh-kill pile grew a whole lot bigger that day. Food was no longer a problem in fireclan- that was clear. No errors had been found on the borders, either.

"Dovesong's going into labor, Willowsky! What should we do?" Cried Rheedfeather. Willowsky rolled her eyes at the worried tom. He sighed. "Sorry, I'll calm down. Do you need any help?" Together they collected a few raspberry leaves and a strong stick and a large piece of moss soaked in water. Then they went to help Dovesong.

With a loud crack, the first kit entered the world. Rheedfeather went to fetch a new stick. The kit, a little tom had pale grey fur and amber eyes, like his mother. Dovesong and Rheedfeather decided on the name Stonekit. The second kit came shortly after her brother. Yes, this kit was female. She was raven black with bright green eyes. Dovesong named her Sweetkit. The third kit was a black tom with one amber eye and one pale blue eye. His father got to name him. His name became Shadowkit. The last kit was born after an hour at least. It was a tabby tom-  peppery grey with ice blue eyes. His parents named him Rainkit.

The Clan's problems seemed solved now. But Shadowkit was blind in one eye.
