Mogami sat back down on his chair and began going through the files again 

Nishikata : ( he picked up one of the files and started reading it) 

Takagi : yuki you shouldn't touch that!! 

Mogami : no it's fine I can always use a second opinion... if you two'd like it there's copies on the table 

Nishikata : ( he flipped through the pages)

( a expensive antique Chinese vase was stolen from a collectors house) it looks like all windows and doors were locked.... 

Sumire : the estate manager had called all the staff together for a discussion so all the staff were in a break room 

Takagi : an estate manager?

Mogami : large estates require a lot of maintenance and someone needs to control and give out instructions to the staff, that is an estate manager

Nishikata : this manor is pretty big I won't be surprised if this place also has an estate manager... 

Takagi : the owner was showing off his collection to his guests at around 1:30 pm and when he came back after they left which was 45 minutes later at 2:15 pm the vase was gone.... 

Nishikata : well... Security cameras on the exterior didn't catch anything there was no way for the person to enter without being seen but still there was nothing on the footage... So How did the theif get in... 

Mogami : the camera observing the vase was disabled but from the footage we can confirm that the theif disabled them at exactly 1:55 pm 

Takagi : so there was no way to enter or exit... and the theif just disappeared? 

Sumire : the investigation report say that the person doing the act was definitely a professional... So It must have been planned meticulously.... 

Mogami : so? What do you think? 

Nishikata : I think someone from inside the manor helped the thief... 

Mogami : oh and why do you think that? 

Nishikata : estate managers are responsible and don't usually call emergency meetings so everyone must have known about this meeting prior to the theft

Mogami : makes sense and? 

Nishikata : well since the thief striked exactly when the meeting was happening so no one could witness his crime...he must have known that the meeting would take place at that time... 

Mogami : exactly... but what does that tell you? 

Nishikata : .... 

Takagi : it doesn't tell anything...

Mogami : we still have 0 suspects... God i hate cases like these... 

Nishikata : because they are difficult? 

Mogami : no because I have to do some leg work... Normally I just solve cases from within this library... I even have an entire morgue set up in this building.... 

Nishikata : you set up an entire morgue in here?! ( so that's where touching deadbodies comes from) why?! 

Mogami : there was once a case where the person doing the autopsy lied to protect the culprit... I had the body re-examined so I was able to solve that case... I am learning forensic science in Totomi to help me solve cases faster... 

Takagi : that's insane!! 

Mogami : tell me something I don't know... Anyway as I said I thought the second opinion from a smart person like nishikata would be helpful... But he made the same conclusions as I did... now I have to go there and physically examine the crime scene for more clues... 

Nishikata : wait... How did you know I was smart? 

Mogami : your uniform looks new as if it's the first time you've worn it

Nishikata : I could have gotten it yesterday for all you know, and how does that tell you I'm smart 

Mogami : well since you're wearing a uniform from Totomi you must be atleast some intelligent but if this was your first day or week in the school it means you must have had special provisions like I have where I can basically skip school if I want to 

Nishikata : but you still don't know if this is my first week or not 

Mogami : I was gonna think of both possibilities one in which you're a new student and one in which you aren't.. 

Nishikata : ok... Continue.. 

Mogami : then I saw that you had student council badge which isn't given to 1st and 2nd year students unless you're a Student representative.. 

Nishikata : right.... ( he glanced at his badge) and I'm too young to be a third year

Mogami : the first year student rep is a female but the second year has 2 reps both males one Amano-kun and other one hasn't come to school yet 

Nishikata : all dots connected you knew who I was...Incredible

Sumire : I'm impressed but now I know why people call you a creep 

Mogami : to them it seems as if I just know everything about them as if I was stalking them when it's all in plain sight.. 

Takagi : when did even see all that? 

Mogami : when we were shaking hands 

Takagi : it's almost scary how much you just understand from just one look... I wouldn't have even noticed half of that...

Mogami : because of poor vision I can only see this much... And when there is so little you can see you notice everything... Now if you'll excuse me I have to go to the crime scene... 

Nishikata : wait can I come too? 

Takagi : me too 

Sumire : add me too 

Mogami : ( he considered it) like I said a second opinion might be useful so yall can tag along if you want to... ( he called someone and it 3 minutes a car was outside with a chauffeur) 

Nishikata : so do you just keep solving cases? 

Mogami : I've been solving cases since I was 6... 

Takagi : 6?! I couldn't even comprehend addition at that age.... 

Sumire : pretty sure I ate dirt from the sand box when I was 5 or 6.... 

Nishikata : seeing dead bodies and solving cases from that young? I won't be surprised if you had mental trauma... 

Mogami : I guess you can say that...I seen so much from such a young age that im almost completely numb to everything... 

Sumire : and that's where your sociopathic tendencies come from.... Maybe that's why you're face doesn't show that much emotion... Always stone cold... 

Mogami : pretty much... 

Takagi : speaking of... By The way you two are talking I need to ask do you know each other? 

Sumire : well I had to bring him homework continuously for a week one time because the teacher had some work... and for some reason he always insulted me for no reason at all

Mogami : you're just annoying... No Other reason really... 

Nishikata : well she is annoying so I guess it's ok... 

Sumire : ( she just sighed and look outside the window) 

Takagi : so I wanted to ask something, why do you call yourself a genius? ( I mean shuichi-san and yuki are certified geniuses and even they don't call themselves geniuses) 

Mogami : because I am... And also because most people try to be a bit humble but I'm not humble.... Humility isn't a strong point of mine... 

Nishikata : ( genuinely curious) so what kinds of cases have you solved?

Mogami : bank robberies, heists, murders, sometimes even special requests... 

Nishikata : special requests? 

Mogami : you see my grandfather was a great detective arguably the best of Japan but he wasn't after money so he didn't take cases for money he did what he did our of principle .... 

Takagi : so he was a prideful man... 

Mogami : my Dad... However was the opposite... He Took all cases and made a huge fortune and name... He even climbed up the government ladder... 

Nishikata : so he's a big official? 

Mogami : he is currently the director of the National Police Association...NPA for short.... 

Takagi : I think the NPA is the main body for investigating crimes in Japan... the director... Thats impressive... 

Mogami : my grandfather and father took completely different paths in life and even though they were different grandfather was always proud of dad... well I'm right in the middle ground between them both.... I Do it for both the money and the principle.. 

Sumire : so your family has a long history huh? 

Mogami : well sorry for going off topic there... Since my father is the director I sometimes get special requests to investigate a case... 

Nishikata : ah... ( he looked outside) looks like we're here... 

Mogami : ( he sighed heavily) hope this doesn't take too much legwork.... 

Sumire : so you're also incredibly lazy 

Mogami : I guess you can say that... I'm the embodiment of laziness.... 

Nishikata : ( he just laughed) me too man, me too.... 

Takagi : that laziness isn't something to be proud of you know... 

Sumire : ( so he likes making fun of himself.... I can't laugh at that...) let's just get going.... 

Mogami : we have to start the investigation...
