"Ah! I'm so sorry, Finny!" ____'s face turned beet red as she scrambled off of the gardener and stretched out her hand for him to take. Finny took her hand, careful not to grip it with all of his strength and tug the young maid down by accident or worse, and stood up on his feet with his usual smile.
"No, no, it's fine! You didn't mean to, ____."
"I'm still sorry!" She cried out, still shaken at the sudden contact with the innocent boy. He could only tilt his head and laugh at her before the both of them went to the kitchen to help the clumsy maid with the dishes.
____'s clumsiness was natural, unlike Mey-rin whose clumsiness only came from her far-sighted vision. No matter how many times she's tried to right herself or do a job well, she would trip on her own feet and end up taking somebody with her or break expensive china at her expense.
And a certain earl doesn't find it the least bit endearing.
**
Ciel sighed in aggravation, closing his eyes shut and pinching the bridge of his nose. ____ stood, shaking, next to another set of broken china. Her eyes looked at anything but her master, who was currently fuming at the sight.
The earl was concerned with the crash and the girl's scream, which sounded as if she was being kidnapped, so he and his butler hurriedly came down the stairs to see what has happened. To his utter annoyance, it was ____ breaking expensive items in the household for the umpteenth time.
Sebastian sighed and bent down to retrieve all of the broken pieces of the plates, causing the girl to squeal and offer him help while taking the blame yet again.
"I'm so sorry, Mr. Sebastian! I-I was about to put the dishes back when I bumped into the table and-!"
"No need to explain yourself," The butler held out his hand for her share of pieces and she complied, hesitantly and carefully giving him the shards and dust of what remains of the china. "I will handle this mess. Do take care of yourself, ____."
He smiled at her despite the frustration waging his mind and causing more turmoil to his morals. His eyes shifted from the clumsy maid to his silent master, who was now eyeing the maid as if she was a disaster zone he cannot avoid.
Well, the butler couldn't agree more. Although, his master has something else clouding his mind.
"Go and help Finny tend to the garden and please make sure he doesn't use pesticide by mistake again," He told her while sparing a quick glance at Ciel, who was now giving him the deadliest glare he can muster. His lips curled into an amused smirk as the girl hastily bowed and fled the kitchen while almost tripping on her own feet again.
"My, my, is something troubling you, master?" He slyly asked, dumping the shards in the nearest disposal bin he can find in the kitchen. Ciel huffed, placing a hand on his hip and gripping the head of his cane tightly.
He will never give Sebastian the satisfaction to see him in such a negative expression. No, never in his life will he show this ugly feeling to the likes of him. It was disgusting to see a demon drinking up a feeble human's weakness with obvious mirth.
"If you must know," Ciel started, turning his back on Sebastian as he walked back to his study while maintaining composure. "I'm concerned with the huge amount of chinaware she's broken by now and the cost to replace them all."
As Ciel's heels clicked with each step and his silhouette disappearing in the dim lighting of the halls, Sebastian chuckled at his arrogance and continued to fulfill his duties for the day.
**
For some reason, Ciel couldn't rest or focus on his work like usual; not even the satisfying reward of dessert could keep him sharp. So he paused; put down his quill; and pushed his chair back to walk around it and look at the garden.
His azure eye roved around the garden filled with various kinds of flowering plants. Still, he felt restless and he couldn't seem to stop it until he noticed two figures watering and caring for a patchwork of Sterling Silver roses, his favorite.
He didn't need to squint his eye to know who they are. Of course, since it was Sebastian who tasked them to do the gardening today. ____ was tearfully watering the roses while Finny was talking animatedly and making exaggerated gestures, probably to make her laugh or smile at least.
Ciel can feel his throat constrict and his heart being gripped at the sight of her tearful face slowly forming a smile, her lips parting to laugh. How can he notice such details, he doesn't know.
The pain in his chest grew as ____ placed the watering can down and hugged Finny, whose cheeks tinted pink at the sudden gesture and hugged her back. A sharp inhale broke the silent atmosphere of his study, what used to make him feel at peace now making him feel caged and suffocated.
He couldn't take it. He has to stop it.
Before Ciel could comprehend the situation, he swiftly turned on his heel and stormed out of the room. The sound of his cane tapping and shoes clacking on the floor echoed in the halls, but it didn't matter to him. He emerged out into the garden and stared, just stared hatefully, at what was supposed to be a heartwarming scene of someone comforting another.
His mind was in a flurry of anguish and rage; the feeling of not wanting to lose overtaking his senses and numbing him to the point that he didn't notice a thorn, from one of the roses hanging out of the entrance, had cut his cheek as he passed by.
"Thank you for being a friend, Finny," ____ said, releasing the hug and wiping her tears away. Finny sheepishly rubbed the back of his neck while carefully avoiding the straw hat covering it, "It's nothing! And you look prettier with a smile, so don't be sad, okay?"
She nodded and was about to take the watering can back when she saw Ciel outside and looking furious. ____ didn't have time to wonder what was going on or be scared of the face he was making, because she noticed a bleeding cut on his cheek. Eyes widening, she left the can as it is and approached him; careful not to trip on any roots or rocks.
"Master, you have a cut on your cheek! What happened?"
Ciel stopped, snapping out of his rage once ____ was in front of him. At the mention of a cut, he felt a wet trail down on his cheek and hovered a hand over it as he tentatively placed a finger on it.
He quietly hissed and looked at his hand, a small drop on blood on his pallid finger. He didn't notice that ____ had already told Finny to continue with the garden and led Ciel off somewhere.
"M-Master?"
"...What?" He responded. Ciel must've looked intimidating, because she flinched and stuttered over her words more. The corners of his lips tempted to frown, but he resisted it. He might scare her off again and he doesn't want that.
"I-I'm going to n-need to te-tend to your w-wounds, so please sit s-still."
It wasn't an order, he realized. It was a request, a plight to care for him and only him.
"Do what you must," With his reply, the girl let out a shaky sigh of relief and poured a bit of alcohol on the cotton then she began to clean his wound.
It stung and Ciel hissed, but she never wavered. Her hands delicately dabbed at the wound; pausing to dispose the bloodied cotton and taking another. She poured a bit of disinfectant and dabbed at his cheek again. For a girl as clumsy as she is, her touch is undeniably light, as if the thought of pressing harder would break whatever she touched.
It stung worse, but Ciel kept quiet. He wanted nothing more than to cherish the little time he had to have her to himself. A selfish wish, but that wouldn't stop him.
"There, all done," ____ smiled, cleaning up and putting back the alcohol, disinfectant, and wad of cotton back in her personal medicine bag. The Phantomhive boy blinked and scanned his surroundings, only to realize that he was sitting on his chair back in his study.
"Please let the cut be or it'll get infected, Master. I'll go find Sebastian for now."
No, he thought. Don't leave me. I'm...
He couldn't let this chance slip by. If he lets her go, who knows who could take her away from him; who knows who could grab her in their clutches; who knows who could have her all to themselves. He wanted her for himself.
Before anyone could process what was going on, the sound of a loud thump resonated in the room followed by another. With little regard to the chair that violently fell to the floor, Ciel had taken her wrist and caged her in his arms. With her back on the edge of the desk and her breathing labored, ____ was taken aback by the forceful return and dropped her medicine bag.
His face loomed over her; faces and bodies dangerously close to each other. She trembled as her master's hot breath ghosted over her skin, causing her to shiver beneath him. Ciel didn't care if he appeared animalistic nor did he care if anyone saw him taking a chance at his maid.
He wants her, and that's all he cared for.
"M-Master! Wh-what are y-"
"I'm taking what's mine," He breathed out and leaned closer towards her, lips barely a centimeter apart. ____'s eyes widened in bemusement, wondering why would Ciel want her in the first place.
"What about your fiance?! What about Miss Elizabeth?!" She tried to find reason for this, something to snap him out of this behavior, but he didn't move from his position.
"I'm going to call off the engagement. I'm sure Elizabeth would understand."
No, ____ thought in fright, still trembling at the close proximity. She wouldn't. She loves you! She tried to find another reason to stop this nonsense. A commoner can't be with a noble, whether they want to or not!
"B-But, I'm clumsy! I always break something or topple over someone and-!"
"Who gives a damn about that?"
And with that, he closed the gap between their lips and tried to kiss her as best he could.

I lied. Oh the irony. I wrote about a character from LiEat earlier and now this.
Such a crappy ending. Well, I don't know why I wrote this, but I'm glad I pulled it off somehow (Woohoo! Two updates in one day haha!) I'm sorry if the characters here are OOC as hell and if you found any errors in this story.
Ah well, enjoy the rest of the day hehe :3
