Your P.O.V
Mystogan's been acting off for a while now and I'm starting to really worry. I know he's keeping something from me and I don't like it.
"What is that?" Mystogan asks, snapping me out of my thoughts.
"What?" I ask, looking around until my eyes land on the midnight dark sky hanging over Magnolia.
"We need to get there right now!" Mystogan exclaims with obvious panic while pulling me into his side by my waist and teleporting.
We're now in the middle of town where it looks like it's going to start storming at any moment. I look up at the sky to see it getting darker and starting to swirl in a circular pattern. That's when it dawns on me.
"Is that... an anima?" I ask with wide eyes.
"Looks that way," Mystogan pauses, "I don't think we'll be able to contain this one."
I look at him in shock. "We have to! All of Magnolia will be lost to Edolas if we don't! Who knows what'll happen to them."
He looks at me with sad eyes and cups my face with his hands. "I promise I'll do whatever I can to save them, but right now I need to get you as far away from here as possible."
"No! I'm not leaving you to fend for yourself and I'm not leaving my friends to perish." I couldn't hold it back anymore, rebellious tears start falling from my eyes.
"I wasn't asking. I had a feeling something like this would happen, I just didn't want you to worry, but you need to go now. I'll teleport you out of the city and see what I can do for now. I promise I'll come back."
Before I could protest, Mystogan crashes his lips onto mine. As we pull away, he puts his hand up, and in a flash, I was standing on a hill overlooking Magnolia.
I knew there was nothing to do now but wait. I sit down with my legs crossed and watch what now has become my home slowly fall to pieces, and there's nothing I can do about it.
Mystogan P.O.V
I know I can't contain this anima, not on my own and not even with (Y/N). I always thought about if this day would come and I know what I'm going to need to do. I don't think I can do it though. If I do, it means leaving (Y/N) and I don't know if I can. She is the most important thing to me and I know if I leave, all I'll cause her is heart break. But if I don't, thousands of people will die.
Sometimes hard decisions and sacrifices need to be made no matter how difficult it will be. It just hurts to know it will be (Y/N) suffering along with myself, but I'm not concerned about me. Hopefully I'll be able to find a way for it to work out.
Second Person P.O.V
The sky is becoming darker and darker by the second and the magic energy is constantly increasing. You've been sitting there for five minutes and your anxiety level is through the roof.
Suddenly, you feel a pull in the atmosphere. You look down at Magnolia to see buildings starting to get sucked into the anima. You quickly jump to your feet, unsure of what to do.
"Mystogan?!" you yell.
"I'm right here." You flinch at the sudden voice and look to your side to see him with a grim look on his face.
He takes your hand as you both stare at what Magnolia is becoming as it's getting vacuumed into the anima. Tears flow down your face. Mystogan grabs you and brings you into his hard chest while holding your waist.
"We can still save them," Mystogan states.
You look up at him in confusion. "How?"
"I need to go to Edolas. I have a spell I can use to teleport there."
"Then let's go!" you exclaim.
"No, you're not going. It's way too dangerous and I..." he trails off.
"What?"
"I don't know if I'll be able to return," Mystogan says.
"What do you mean?"
"The way Edolas is. I don't know what could happen and if the magic energy will allow me to return."
"Then that's all the more reason for me to go with you," you say while taking a step away from Mystogan.
"You can't. I know what it's like over there and I'm not letting you risk your life."
"Don't you remember what I said before? You're not doing any death defying missions without me."
"This is different. You're not going and that's the end of it. We're wasting time," Mystogan says, taking your hand and teleporting to the middle of what used to be Magnolia. You look at your surroundings and notice something ripping out of the ground.
"What is that?" you question.
That's when a certain Iron Dragon Slayer pops out of the ground looking around frantically and beyond pissed. Mystogan looks slightly shocked but composes himself and starts leading you over to him.
"Gajeel," Mystogan says, getting his attention.
"What the hell happened?! And what are we doing here?!" Gajeel shouts.
"Calm down, metal head." You grumble, still annoyed with Mystogan.
"(Y/N)? Mystogan? What's going on?"
"No time to explain so here's the short version. Magnolia was sucked into another universe and we need to go there and save everyone. You need to take one of these," Mystogan pauses to take out a little jar with multiple red balls in it, "These are called X-Balls and they'll allow you to use your magic in the other universe. Take the whole thing just in case you run into any of our friends."
Surprisingly, Gajeel just nods and pops one of the red candies into his mouth. "So how do I get there?" he asks.
"Like this," Mystogan says while grabbing one of his staves and positioning it in front of Gajeel and reciting a spell. You stand and watch as Gajeel disappears into Edolas.
"How didn't he get sucked in with the rest of Magnolia?" you ponder.
"I think it might be something to do with him being a Dragon Slayer. There's a legend about it, but I didn't know if it was true," Mystogan replies.
"What now?" you ask, running a hand through your hair in exhaustion.
"Well-" he gets interrupted by someone screaming your names.
"(Y/N)! Mystogan!"
You both snap your heads in the direction of the yelling and see Lucy running toward you.
"Lucy!" you shout while she wraps her arms around you.
"Do you guys know what happened? The last thing I remember is being in the guild then all of a sudden everything was gone and I was saved by Horologium," Lucy says after you both pull away.
"Yes, actually." Mystogan goes on to explain the situation while Lucy nods in understanding.
"Okay, I'm ready," she says.
Mystogan holds his stave up and repeats the same spell he said to Gajeel just moments ago and Lucy vanishes.
"It's time for me to go now, too," Mystogan says, turning to you with sadness in his eyes.
"Don't say it like that. Don't say it like you won't ever come back," you plead, a stray tear sliding down your face.
Mystogan takes his thumb and brushes it away. "But-"
You interrupt him. "No 'but' about it. You're not allowed to say goodbye and leave me. Even if you don't come back, never say goodbye."
He looks into your (E/C) eyes with so much intensity, you thought you were going to melt.
"I promise I'll never leave you," Mystogan says, leaning down and kissing you.
You don't hesitate to kiss him back. You both put every emotion into it like it's the last time you'll ever kiss and it very well might be. As you pull away, a rush of cold envelopes your body.
"I love you so much, (Y/N) Neekis, please don't forget that."
"I know, and I love you too, Mystogan Fernandes. You're truly the best thing that's ever happened to me."
"And I you."
You fight back any remaining tears, knowing Mystogan wouldn't want what could possibly be his last memory of you crying.
He pulls you close to his body and kisses your forehead. "I have to go now," he mumbles.
"Five more minutes," you whisper into his chest, memorizing the smell of his amazing cologne you love so much.
"You know our friends won't like being kept waiting," he chuckles.
You reluctantly pull away and look up into his hazel eyes. "Fine, but I'll... see you later."
He takes a few steps away from you and holds his stave next to his side while cracking a small smile.
"See you later, (Y/N)."
And with that, Mystogan vanishes, leaving you with nothing but a broken heart and mind full of memories.
