[ A/N: The official theme song of Kuroo Tetsurou and Miura Sachi's relationship is True Love by PINK. The lyrics fit their dynamic so well. :) ]
[Miura Sachi]
It's currently Friday, and we're on our way to school. Tomorrow, it's Tetsurou's surprise birthday celebration. I can't wait to see the look on his face when he gets surprised!
"Why are you trying to hide the roses I gave you? Do you want me to hold it for you?" Tetsurou concernedly asked while I walked beside him, trying to hide the bouquet of red roses I was holding.
I blushed profusely as I shot him a glare, shaking my head.
A while ago morning, as I was getting ready to leave for school, Tetsurou suddenly showed up to our front door with a bouquet of red roses. He really is persistent on courting me. My parents were there to witness the whole thing— Tetsurou handing me the bouquet of red roses, and me awkwardly receiving it and thanking him. He even came in to greet my parents a good morning and handed them a box of takoyaki, their favorite, as a gift.
As romantic as I found his gesture, I wanted to leave the bouquet of roses at my bedroom, but my mother wanted me to bring the bouquet to school.
"The whole school should know you're being courted by that handsome man! This is not something to be embarrassed of! Now get your ass going and bring it to school!" my mother smiled menacingly as she widened her eyes at me. Because of that, I couldn't say no to her.
"No, I think it's better if I was the one to hold this bouquet of roses, Tetsurou. If you were the one holding this, people would think I was the one who gave it to you. It would look like I was the one courting you," I laughed as I looked at the flower arrangement he gave me with a confused smile.
I never thought that I would be receiving flowers from him. I still couldn't believe he's courting me, yet alone he feels the same way about me!
"Hm, that wouldn't be too bad too. I mean, if you courted me, I would definitely say yes in a heartbeat. But that would be making it too easy for you, and I know you love a good challenge," Tetsurou teased, making me roll my eyes at him with a smile.
"Who even said anything about me courting you?" I replied with a sympathetic grin, earning a scoff from Tetsurou.
"By the way, Tetsurou. Why did you give me red roses? Are red roses your favorite?" I asked as I looked up at him with curiosity. Tetsurou just looked at me for second with a surprised face, then looked straight ahead with a smile as he answered, his hands on his pockets.
"Well, I picked out red roses to give you because..." Tetsurou cleared his throat and scratched the back of his head, his nervousness showing.
Oh my god, he's so cute when he's being shy like this! It's kind of odd seeing him flustered since he always gives off this arrogant, deceiving vibe.
I laughed at his shy gestures, but decided not to comment on it so that he would continue what he was saying.
"I picked out red roses for you because... they remind me of you so much."
I looked at Tetsurou with my brows furrowed, trying to comprehend how I'm similar to red roses. He looked
away from me with a small smile on his face, making me bite my lip to stop myself from smiling. I'm making him flustered and I like it!
"What? How? Why do red roses remind you of me?" I asked, holding the bouquet closer to my chest as I noticed some of the people we were passing by give me strange looks, probably because of the huge flower arrangement.
"Well, red roses remind me of you because when you blush, become shy or embarrassed, you turn red. I love it when you turn red," Tetsurou chuckled as I could feel my cheeks heat up. I poked his side playfully as I covered my face with the bouquet.
"See, you're blushing again! Your face is as red as the roses right now!" he poked my side as I violently bent sideways to avoid it.
"Okay! You can stop teasing me now," I grunted as I slowly put down the bouquet, sighing loudly at his teasing remarks.
Tetsurou continued what he was saying, his hands resting on his neck.
"Red roses remind me of you because the petals are soft, just like you. I mean, for the past three years I saw you interact or talk to others, and I never saw a person kinder and soft-spoken to other people as you. Well, you're soft to other people except for me. I don't know why," he shrugged his shoulders as I smiled a little, bumping him with arm.
"You know why! You're the only person to ever get on my nerves because you always tease me for the hell of it," I sighed as I glanced at him smiling.
"Just admit that I fluster you, shortcake. Anyway, I also chose roses for you because... of the thorns. For some people, roses' thorns are a flaw, but it's actually just the roses' defense mechanism," Tetsurou lectured as visible confusion can be seen on my face.
"Okay, so what does that have to do with me?"
"You, Sachi, remind of the roses' thorns because when you get all defensive and mean on me, I know you're just trying to cover up your feelings for me... which is loOOoovE—"
I cut Tetsurou's sentence short by covering my hand over his mouth when he suddenly said the word "love" in a singsong tone, feeling my face turn red.
"Shut up, Tetsurou! You're embarrassing yourself in front of all these strangers," I whispered to him as I looked around the street. Some people were looking at us with weirded out faces, and it's because of Tetsurou's sudden singing voice.
"What do you mean? I think they're just jealous because you're holding a bouquet of flowers and they aren't," Tetsurou raised a brow and I immediately pouted at the thought.
Man, it feels nice to be treated as someone special.
For the longest time, the word "special" just felt ordinary to me. It was just a word— an adjective, and it meant nothing to me. Now, thanks to this annoying yet insanely incredible Kuroo Tetsurou, I finally know what it means to be special to someone.
The way he flusters me when he kisses my hand, the way I get butterflies when he goes out of his way to let me know that he... is in love with me.
This is all so sudden somehow, but I wouldn't have it any other way. After all, time is short, and I'm afraid that tomorrow, I might never see Tetsurou again. It scares me. So, I decided to just embrace and accept what Tetsurou and I have now.
I will love Kuroo Tetsurou like there is no tomorrow.
I admired the bouquet of red roses I was holding. I never received any flowers from a guy before, just the occasional Valentine's flower from my father. But this? This is making me feel so joyful, and the fact that it came from the person I'm crazy about makes it even better.
"So basically, shortcake, I picked red roses for you because you remind me of them. The softness of the petals remind me of your kindness, the way you smile so softly. The color red reminds me of your blushing face, which I find so cute, by the way. The thorns remind me that you are someone fierce, and that you should be held with care," Tetsurou admitted in a hushed tone, gazing into my eyes as his lips turned into a small smile, his hands on his pockets still.
His hazel-eyes looked down at me with a glow, and as we are about to arrive at Nekoma, our school, Tetsurou leaned down a little to whisper close to my ear, sending shivers down my spine.
"And most of all, I chose red roses because they're loved by everybody, especially by me. Red roses are lovely, captivating, and absolutely tantalizing... just like you, my shortcake."
I could already feel the butterflies in my stomach flutter furiously, making me think that they might as well turn into a damn zoo. I took a deep breath as I stared back into Tetsurou's eyes, his sincerity and genuineness showing. My cheeks are starting to heat up, but I didn't break away from his gaze.
This man just has a way with me. With his words, his actions.
Damn you, Kuroo Tetsurou!
Tetsurou grinned before standing up straight again, looking ahead as he rubbed his nape shyly.
"Okay, fine. You can insult me on how cheesy or corny that sounded, but I'm no damn poet, shortcake," he laughed as I crinkled my nose at him, holding the bouquet close to my chest to calm my heart down.
"No, I won't insult you this time. In fact, you couldn't have worded that better. Thank you."
Tetsurou looked down at me with a slightly surprised expression, as if he couldn't believe I was praising him. I nudged him a little with my elbow as I gestured for him to look ahead.
"Well, that's not what I was expecting to hear. I was prepared for an insult from you, but thank you too, shortcake. Anyway, what's your favorite flower? I'm sorry if I asked too late," Tetsurou sighed as I touched the petals of the red roses in the bouquet, feeling their soft, silky texture.
I've never thought about having a favorite flower before, because flowers were just flowers to me... until I received this bouquet. I guess I have a favorite now.
I smiled at him as I answered his question.
"Red roses happen to be my favorite now, Tetsurou."
Tetsurou patted my head with a sly smile on his face.
"That's good to hear," he cleared his throat as we walked to the entrance of the school, and I noticed that some of the students were looking at us, whispering. Some of them, however, were whispering loudly.
"Oh, is she the one the hottie volleyball captain is into?! Man, I wish I were her!"
"Look, she's holding flowers! I bet she casted a love spell on Kuroo."
"Is Kuroo into that kind of girls? Who is she anyway?"
"Oh, damn! I always had a crush on that girl from Kuroo's class. She's insanely hot!"
I looked down on the ground as I tried to distance myself a little from Tetsurou, suddenly feeling a little self-aware. I could hear the whispers about me and Tetsurou, and it's kind of making me conscious.
My eyes widened when Tetsurou suddenly yelled, his hands pointing at me as he turned to look at everyone.
"Yeah, that's right! This girl right here has my heart, and I'm courting her!"
I immediately turned to shoot Tetsurou a deadly glance, feeling my face heat up. The other students around us suddenly stopped their whispers, obviously taken aback by Tetsurou's declaration.
"Are you crazy?! Now they're looking at us even more!" I yelled-whispered as I walked faster to the school doors, pulling Tetsurou by his school blazer.
He chuckled as we got to the door, and I gestured for him to go to his shoe locker. He just nodded, acknowledging what I meant.
"Go change your shoes, I'll talk to you in a minute," I exhaled as I walked to my shoe locker, changing my shoes into my school pair.
I took a deep breath to relieve my adrenaline rush. As embarrassing as it was, it still felt... good— the feeling of someone being proud that they're dating you. I smiled to myself as I shook my head from the thought.
"Come on, let's head up to our room. I can't wait to tell all our classmates about us," Tetsurou casually remarked as he slung my bag over his shoulder.
"Thank you for carrying my bag, but I can manage," I raised both my brows at him as I grabbed my bag. He looked at me with a small pout, as if he was disappointed.
"I know you could carry it on your own, but I just wanted to do something nice for you. Oh well, you're freakishly strong like a monster anyway so—"
I looked at him with a deadpan expression upon his mention of the word "monster". We continued to climb the stairs as he raised both of his hands in defeat.
"And that angelic look you're giving me is proof that you're not at all monster-like—"
I raised a brow at his obvious sarcasm as a thought popped into my head.
"Is that one way to speak to someone you're courting? I don't think so, Tetsurou. Why do you love teasing me anyway?" I shot him a snarky expression as I slightly sighed.
Tetsurou looked down on the ground before he scoffed, his hands on his pocket.
"Come on, Sachi. Teasing and playful insults are part of a healthy relationship if they're balanced pretty well. Besides, don't you think it's a bit cringe if a person is just sweet to someone all the time?"
I squinted my eyes at his thought-provoking question as we reached the third floor where our classroom is. I gripped the bouquet tightly to my chest as I thought of an answer.
He's right. I find it a bit cringe if someone is just all sweet and romantic with me all the time... I will easily get bored. But still, teasing and romantic gestures should be balanced!
"Mhm, you're right. I also think a relationship is more fun if there's occasional teasing, but still, I think sweet things are cuter..." I whispered to myself, turning away from Tetsurou.
I held on to the strap of my bag as I walked ahead of him when he suddenly tugged my blazer a little, making me look back at him with surprised eyes.
"Sachi, can't I love you and make fun of you? I will tease, I will act stupid, but only in hopes to get some sort of a reaction from you. This is the way I am, but I'd gladly change that if you like."
I was a bit dumbfounded by what he said, so I just stood there, contemplating what to reply to his sudden remark.
Upon knowing what to say, I smiled at him, focusing on his cat-like eyes.
"Stay the way you are, Kuroo Tetsurou. I like you for who you really are, and I don't want you to change because of me. So don't sweat it, okay?"
When he chuckled a little and looked down on the ground, I turned my back on him to enter our classroom, feeling a warm sensation around my neck.
It feels good to be nice to Tetsurou every once in a while.
When I finally entered our classroom, Sato, our class representative, came up to me and patted my shoulder with a curious look on his face. "Hey. Sachi. I heard about you and Kuroo, looks like you're a thing now, with all that roses and flowers."
I gave him a shocked look before shaking my head. Wow, word travels really fast around here.
"Well, we aren't really a thing yet but—" I was cut off midway into my sentence by Tetsurou.
"Hey, everybody. So, today I finally declare that I am now taken by Miura Sachi. Though we aren't officially in a relationship yet, I just wanted to let you all know I am bewitched by this girl right here, and that I only have eyes for her. Okay, that's it. Just wanted to inform you all," Tetsurou suddenly announced to our classroom as he stood behind me.
My eyes widened at his announcement as I walked up to my seat, hearing the howls and jeers of my classmates. I tucked the bouquet of red roses in my bag first before I buried my face in my school blazer as I heard claps and excited cheers, feeling my face and body heat up from embarrassment.
"Woo! Congratulations on the new couple, may they spend the rest of their lives happily together," said one of our classmate as they clapped their hands. Why are they saying that as if we're about to get married?!
"Aw, imagine Miura and Kuroo's babies! I bet they'd be so gorgeous!" I heard one of my girl classmates squeal, making me want to bang my head against the wall. We're just dating, and we haven't even talked about having a family yet! That's too soon!
"Wow, congratulations, man. You finally had the courage to tell her about your feelings. How did it go?" I heard Akane, this cute, intelligent guy classmate of ours, ask Tetsurou beside me and I just covered my face even more with my blazer.
"Our confession to each other was surreal, but I would like to keep the details to myself, man," Tetsurou answered Akane's question, making me sigh a little in relief that he didn't tell the whole thing.
Oh my god. This is really happening. The whole school will know that I'm dating Kuroo Tetsurou! Oh my god, what if his fan girls and boys attack me because they're jealous and then—
"Hey, love! So I heard about you and Kuroo, congratulations! I'm so happy for you! Things finally worked out alright!" Mei whispered— no, yelled— to my ear, making me look up at her in relief.
"You're finally here, oh! Mei, I'm scared by what our classmates are saying about marriage and kids—" I hugged Mei, still sitting, and she just laughed at me while rubbing my back.
"Hey, don't you pick on Sachi about marriage and kids with Kuroo! Even though they'll one day have it!" Mei yelled to our classmates, earning a laugh from them, including Tetsurou's.
I pinched Mei's cheeks as revenge, and I yelled back to our classmates
"Yeah, laugh now, but if you guys ever ask help from me in Calculus, I'll refuse," I scoffed, and my classmates became silent in an instant.
That's right. I may be a loser when it comes to Science, but Mathematics is my friend!
I smirked in victory as I sat down on my seat, giving Tetsurou a cold stare.
"You," I hissed, squinting my eyes at him. Tetsurou just flashed me his usual Cheshire-cat grin while he twirled a pen in his fingers.
"Why are you glaring at me? I would just like the whole world to know that I am head over heels for you, shortcake. After all, I kept it bottled for three whole years."
I turned away from him, trying to stop the smile that was forming on my lips. My god, this feels too good to be true.
"Alright, settle down now, class. Let us now have the homeroom period first. Good morning, everyone," Hayato-sensei finally entered the room. Everyone settled in their seats as Hayato-sensei stood in front of the podium, his eyes glinting at us.
Everyone was unusually silent, and I knew this had something to do with me and Tetsurou.
"Why is everyone so quiet? Is there something wrong?" Hayato-sensei asked in a warning tone. Suddenly, Mei stood up.
I knew what she was about to say and my eyes widened even more in embarrassment when she proudly yelled to the room, "Kuroo and Sachi are dating, sensei! He even gave her a bouquet of red roses!"
"Oh no," I covered my face with my hands as my classmates jeered and howled again to tease me and Tetsurou.
"Oh, dear! That's some exciting news, I hope you two finally get together happily," Hayato-sensei commented as he laughed along with our classmates.
I removed my hands from my face as I smiled at Hayato-sensei. He was a big part in how me and Tetsurou's relationship developed, and I should thank him for that, too. He came up with the tutor idea, and if it weren't for that, I wouldn't have known the other side of Kuroo Tetsurou.
"Actually, we also have you to thank, Hayato-sensei. You know what for," Tetsurou pointed out as he gave Hayato-sensei a thumbs-up. Hayato-sensei just nodded at him, smiling, before clearing his throat.
"Okay, now that I know what the elephant in the room is, we shall now start the homeroom period. Once again, congratulations to Mr. Kuroo and Ms. Miura," Hayato-sensei clapped his hands, and everyone did too.
I just chuckled a little as I waved a hand in dismissal, glancing at Tetsurou if he was getting flustered too.
He just winked at me with a smirk on his face, making me bite my lip as I tried to put on a straight face.
God. As embarrassing as this is, this still feels so rewarding.
I love this feeling.
I love being in love with
