Valentine POV
"Why can't we just take the camera to a Walgreens or something?" I ask Cara when she carefully took out the film. I don't know how she was going to print the photos and I'm pretty sure she didn't know what she was doing. "Because people will question why you took a picture with 16 year old Corey Haim in 1987" she told me. She had a point. "I don't think they look at the picture. Do they?" I ask her. She shrugged.
Cara got a box from under her desk. She gave it to me. "Happy birthday" she told me. "What is it?" I asked her. I opened it and it was a framed picture of River Phoenix and his signature on it. "Wow! Thank you so much Cara!" I told her and gave her a huge hug. "No problem. I won by a dollar on eBay" she told me. "Thank you" I told her again. She then went back to the pictures and I sat down day dreaming.
I was feeling sad again. I missed Corey. "What's up with you" Cara noticed I was looking in outer space. "I want to go back" I told her. "I want to tell Corey-" Cara stopped me. "You didn't tell Corey he dies did you?" She asked me. "No... But I should have" I told her. "No you did good. Don't change anything" Cara told me.
"I should've told him. I should have saved him. Why can't I tell him. He needs to know." I wanted to cry. I hated myself, I want to tell Corey so bad I don't want him to die. "Valentine..." Cara started. She sat next to me. "I had you go just so you can experience something that people have not done. You can't change the past you never know what will happen" Cara told me. "He would be alive!" I get up from where I was sitting. "I had a dream that he was crying and he was dead and I didn't know what to do and he hates me" I cried. "He doesn't hate you" Cara told me softly
"I knew he was going to die and I didn't tell him. I hate myself! Why didn't I tell him. I should have told him" I was crying hard now. Cara got up and hugged me trying to calm me down. "Valentine. We can't change it" Cara told me. I just shook my head wiping away my tears. Cara looked like she was going to cry.
"I shouldn't have sent you" Cara said. "I just wanted you to be happy but your not" Cara finished. "I am happy. I- I just don't like how I left a-and I knew and didn't tell him" I said crying more. "But Valentine, who knows if he'd believe you. Then what, you would tell him you're from the future?" Cara asked me. "Do you think he'd believe you?" Cara asked me.
I was silent. I didn't think of that and I wasn't sure if he'd believe me and I wouldn't want to say I'm from the future then he'd really think I'm crazy. I shrugged. We were silent for awhile
I then remembered something. "I have things in my bag" I told Cara. I took out the book bag and took out a magazine, the magazine I came out on it. "Valentine!" She looked surprise. I didn't know if she'd me mad or excited. "How-did you-" Cara couldn't speak. "I don't think it'd change anything" I told her.
Cara dug through the bag then gasped. I gave her a questioning look but then knew what she was talking about when she took out the shattered phone. "Wh-what HAPPENED" she told me. "Okay I fell when I came back and I fell on the book bag.... Which had the phone in it" I explained. "Okay. I think I could remove everything I put in here and put it in another phone" Cara said. "Okay cool that sounds like a good idea." I responded. "Yeah but I don't have another used phone" she told me. "Ohhh....sorry" she told me. "It's fine" she said then smiled at me.
When the picture were done we looked over them. "You took really nice pictures" Cara told me. "Thanks. But it was hard since I can't see the picture" I chuckled. "Aw how cute" Cara said. "What?" I said looking at the pictures she had in her hand. Some were pictures of Corey and some were pictures of both of us. I smiled remembering this weekend.
The greatest weekend ever.
