Feeling Harry not next to me on the bed is what woke me up. The sun was shining down on the bed and the room was completely bright. I wrapped the blanket around myself just in case someone was to step inside the room, like in the bathroom last night, and headed to the walk-in closet to figure out what I wanted to wear.

I decided to settle for my Guns and Roses t-shirt, shorts, and red converses. I sat down at the vanity, thinking about the Hawthorn Academy. I’m guessing that it’s five maybe eight miles away from the cottage, but it’s well hidden so Black Knights won’t find it, unless they were led here. When I saw Hawthorn Academy in front of me yesterday, I felt my heart pound so hard. I prayed that no one would come out and see everyone and me. Once we left the place, I felt slightly relieved, but I’m still scared about the place being discovered to be a school for vampire hunters. What if they found out that I’m a student there or if I was the niece of the leaders there?

As I was doing my makeup at the vanity, Harry walked inside and immediately he started laughing. I frowned at him. I quickly thought through anything that could’ve been wrong. My shirt wasn’t backwards or inside out, my hair wasn’t sticking up, and my makeup was practically done.

“What’s wrong with you?” I asked him.

He shook his head and cleared his throat. “We’re matching.”

I looked at his shirt, realizing that he was wearing a Guns and Roses shirt too. “Oh, I didn’t know you had a shirt like that.”

He shrugged, “It’s Zayn’s.”

“I thought you had clothes here.”

“More or less,” Harry closed the door to our room. “It’s more of Liam and Louis’s clothes. Zayn and I never went here before so he made a quick run to grab his clothes...but not mine. I might need to go back there and get mine too.”

“No!” I practically shouted that at him. “I mean, you’re not going back there.”

“I’ll be fine, Baby.”

“No!”

“So what am I supposed to wear?”

“Borrow from the other boys! You’re not going back there.”

Harry sighed and grabbed me by the waist, pulling me close. “You are so bossy!”

“I’m trying to protect you!”

“I don’t need protecting.” Harry kissed my neck. “I’ll be fine.”

“You’re not going by yourself.” I leaned away from his kisses so I can be serious. “Take Angelina with you or something.”

His eyebrows furrowed. “You want me to bring Angelina with me to get my clothes?”

I was surprised that I wanted Angelina to go with Harry to the penthouse, but she was the strongest fighter regardless. If I wanted Harry to comeback unharmed, Angelina was perfect for the job. “Yes, I want you to take Angelina with you.” Even though, she killed my friends…

“Jazlyn, I’m fine with going on my own.”

“It’s not okay with me if you go by yourself.” I rested my hand against his cheek. “I want you to come back in one piece and if Angelina is able to do that, then you’re taking her.”

“You want me to leave you alone with four men?”

“What? I’m fine with them.”

Harry glared at me. “Zayn is trying to hit on you, Niall talks weird, and Louis is just...Louis. If it was Liam, I don’t care.”

“Zayn is only doing it to get a rise off of you, Niall’s vocabulary is weird but entertaining, and Louis is just being Louis so there isn’t anything wrong with that.”

“No.”

“Harry,” I began.

“No!”

Groaning loudly, “Do it for me, please?”

Harry grinned, “Fine.”

“Are you just trying to give me a hard time today?”

He shrugged, “You’ll never know.” Harry kissed me and looked deep into my eyes. “Will you be alright?”

“Just hurry back, okay? The sooner the better,” I kissed him passionately.

Harry pulled away and leaned his forehead against mine. “Baby, you kissing me like that will make me delay the trip. I’ll be back soon. I love you.”

“I love you too,” I whispered and he was gone.

I walked downstairs, but stopped when I saw Angelina sitting down on the couch, reading a book. I noticed how her posture was so perfect and straight. I wonder if she ever slouched before. She was wearing a blue floral skirt with a brown belt, white t-shirt, and beige high heels. Sensing my presence, Angelina looked up and smiled at me.

“Did you sleep alright?”

“Yes,” I walked down the stairs. “You didn’t leave yet?”

Angelina frowned. “Where was I supposed to leave to?”

“With Harry to the penthouse to get clothes.”

She placed the book back on the shelf. “Harry went with Louis and Liam to the penthouse. He never asked me to go.”

I set my jaw to the side, slightly mad that Harry didn’t do what I asked him to do. I like how he didn’t go by himself, but still. I asked him to go with Angelina, so I was kind of hoping that he would do it. Instead, he didn’t.

“I take it he wasn’t supposed to bring them,” she said, reading my reaction.

“I sort of wanted you to go with him.”

“You’re concerned he might get attacked by Damon’s coven?”

I nodded.

“Liam and Louis are strong fighters, just as strong as me. He’ll be fine with them.”

I sat down on the couch. “So, it’s just you and me then?”

“Yes,” Angelina sat down on the couch. “Would you like something to eat? I can fetch eggs from the chicken coop, if you like.”

“You have a chicken coop?”

Angelina nodded, “Yes, along with sheep, a cow, and a few horses. There are many farm animals here. Would you like me to show you around?”

“Sure,” I nodded.

“You might want to bring a jacket. It’s a little bit chilly outside.”

After I grabbed my leather jacket, we went outside. A couple yards away from the cottage, there was a small open area that had a dark brown wooden barn with the chicken coop not far away from it.

We first walked into the chicken coop. She opened the gate for me and let me walk inside. Little chicks were singing a little song and their mother wasn’t far from them. Angelina knelt down, picked up one of the chicks, and petted its little head.

“I had to make sure that there this coop is fox safe,” she said, gesturing at the fenced cage we were in. “I don’t want these little ones being eaten by foxes or wolves.”

I ran my fingers against the chick. “They’re adorable.”

She allowed me to hold the little chick and opened a small hatch that showed the little house that was filled with chickens and their nests. Picking up a basket that was nearby to collect some eggs, Angelina said, “Looks like the chickens were busy laying eggs this summer.”

Angelina allowed me to feed the chickens and a little lamb with a bottle. I thought the lamb was so precious. We brushed the horses, gave them food, laughed and joked around, talked about our different fashion statements, and she shared secrets about the boys.

“Harry did that?!” I laughed as we walked back to the cottage together. “That’s so funny!”

“I know!”

Angelina laughed, “What’s worse was when he was finally there, he ran away and said ‘Maybe some other time’!”

Niall was already in the living room when we went inside, so Angelina sat next to him. At that moment, the others came back. Harry looked at ease when he saw a smile on my face. He dropped his bag on the floor and kissed me on the lips.

“How was your day?”

“It was great,” I said, trying not to crack a laugh. “So, why didn’t you ever tell me about your cliff diving experience?”

Liam and Louis laughed at Harry as they sat down on the couch too. Harry’s eyes widened and looked at Angelina. “You didn’t.”

“I did.”

“I thought you weren’t ever going to bring that up to anyone.”

She shrugged, “I had to say it.”

“Say what?” Zayn said, coming into the living room.

“Nothing!” Harry said loudly. “Nothing, right, Angelina?”

“It’s not fair to leave Zayn and Niall out of this.” Angelina cleared her throat, “We were in Hawaii a few months before the Pearl Harbor attack, we were hiking a mountain, and we ended up at the top of a waterfall. There was no way of getting down the waterfall unless you jump or hike back down. Liam and Louis jumped down with beautiful grace. Harry, on the other hand, was a different story.”

“Why? What happened?” Zayn asked full of anticipation.

“We didn’t know that Harry was afraid of heights. He was literally stone stiff at the edge of the waterfall. I tried to push him down, but he clutched onto me like a cat, not willing to get into a tub full of water. I was taunting him and calling him a baby to make him go down. He got defensive and when he was determined to jump, he chickened out and took the coward’s way out.” Angelina, the others, and I laughed even harder when we saw Harry frustratingly pout at the story. “The first time he went to the penthouse and went out onto the balcony, he was practically at a fettle position, rocking back and forth! Liam and I had to carry him into the house after that.”

“No more stories about Harry!” he groaned.

“What about the time we were at the fair in Paris and a little girl cut you in line when you wanted candy floss?” Angelina asked.

“No.”

“Or we can talk about the time where you fell off the-”

“Stop it!”

Louis stepped in. “Remember the time where we dyed his hair blue?”

Angelina, Liam, and Zayn laughed while Harry glared at Louis. “Do you have any idea how long it took for my hair to get back to being brown?”

“Just about a year,” Louis shrugged. “That’s a day for us, mate.”

“Careful, I might give you a drink made out of ketchup, water, and food dye again.”

Louis cringed, “I don’t know how you came up with that. That was nasty!”

I rested my head on Harry’s shoulder, smiling at the stories that I was learning about this coven. They seem so harmless and seem like any other kind of family. They tell jokes, make fun of each other, and protect one another. Even when there are fights, they still protect and love one another. Why couldn’t I ever have a family like that?

“So, was there any trouble when you went back to the penthouse?” Angelina asked.

“The penthouse is destroyed,” Liam answered. “Damon must’ve sent more to the penthouse after you girls left.”

She sucked in a frustrated breath and ran her hand through the side of her face. “I can’t wait to snap his neck, burn his ashes, and spit on them.”

I rose my eyebrows. That was very diabolical…

From the corner, I noticed that Harry shot a look at Angelina. She slightly shrugged and flipped her behind her back. “Harry, why don’t you take Jazlyn to the meadow with Niall and me?” Angelina asked. “I think she will love it there.”

“Do you want to go?” he asked me.

I shrugged, “Sounds like fun.”

“Great,” Angelina smiled. “Let’s go then.”

We got up and headed out the door. Harry picked up a red rose from the bush that we passed and handed it to me. I smiled, taking it and smelling the beautiful fragrance. We were walking along the gravel path that led a through the woods.

I couldn’t help but stare at the couple in front of me. Angelina was smiling brightly, laughing at something that Niall said, their arms linked together like in the old days. He had a smile on his face that seemed only occur when he was with her and his eyes read that Angelina was a beautiful jewel to him. I couldn’t help but laugh as I saw Angelina move away from Niall and him throwing her over his shoulder and continuing to walk down the path while Angelina was laughing and demanding he put her down.

“They look so in love,” I muttered to Harry.

“They are,” Harry agreed.

“Are we like that?” I asked him.

He grinned, “If only you heard what the others said about me.”

“What did they say?”

“Liam and Louis are teasing me because of how hooked I am to you. They love making fun of me when I get jealous or overprotective of you. Also, they told me how you smile whenever you see this gorgeous face of mine.”

I leaned against Harry forcefully to push him. “They should hear us arguing.”

“That’s nothing compared to all the fights that happened before.”

“What fights?”

“Ones between Angelina and Louis weren’t that great. Sometimes, it got into a physical fight, so ours is nothing compared to them.”

“Why did they fight?”

“Louis went through a stage of rebelling and since Angelina is the boss, she would shout at him and it would just be a mess.”

“Weren’t they in love?”

“He was more in love with her, actually. She didn’t really return the feelings.”

“Oh,” I frowned. “So, why did Niall leave Angelina? Did they fight?”

“Things got complicated between them when they got together, but they are working things out now.” Harry squeezed my hand lightly. “Do you like Angelina yet?”

“I don’t know,” I admitted. “She’s really nice and smart...It’s hard to decide if I like her or not.” After all, she did kill Melissa and Darren.

“You seemed alright with her when I got back.”

“I can’t believe you didn’t take her with you. I wanted you to bring her.”

Harry shrugged innocently, “I wanted you two to spend time together so you could get to know her better rather than judge her by what you hear her do.”

“Actually, I’m interested with what Angelina is going to do with Damon. You know, the whole spitting on the burned ashes and all.”

Harry seemed surprised. “You’re fine with that?”

“Well, Damon’s coven is planning on hurting you so that means, yes, I am fine with that.”

He chuckled and wrapped his arms around me from behind. “So protective of me, aren’t you?”

“Get used to it and deal with it,” I glanced up at him.

Harry laughed and looked ahead, “We’re here.”

I looked ahead and saw a beautiful meadow filled with vibrant colors of flowers and long grass. The trees and grass were a beautiful and lively shade of green, even the flowers had colors I didn’t think existed. The air was filled with mixed sweet aromas of all the plants that were in the meadow. I walked through the meadow, letting my hands slide against the long grass, staring up at the sun, and listening to the birds sing their songs. I felt Harry’s eyes studying my every move, probably reading my every emotion that my face offered. I glanced back at him and smiled. He returned a smile to me as well. His eyes glowed in the sun’s rays and it made him seem to have a certain glow about him. He walked over to me, lifted my chin with his fingers, and kissed me. I ran my hands up his chest and around his neck, enjoying every feeling I had with him.

That’s when I realized it. I realized the truth about how I truly feel about Harry. The “I love you’s” were real. The feelings that I shared with Harry were true and there was no point of me hiding that anymore. I couldn’t hurt him or betray him. If I were to hurt him, I don’t think I would ever forgive myself. My life needed to be with Harry and only him. Nothing else mattered anymore, but him and our love.

I leaned away and placed my hand against his cheek. “I love you so much,” I whispered.

“I love you too,” he whispered back.

He pulled me close and I leaned my head against his shoulder. I closed my eyes, inhaling his scent and enjoying the feel of me being this close to him. When my eyes opened, I glanced slightly where Angelina and Niall were. They were five yards away from us, sitting down in the middle of the meadow.

They were both smiling and talking about something that made them both laugh. She leaned down and rested her head on Niall’s lap, staring up at him with so much life in her eyes. He was smiling down at her with so much admiration and love, brushing his fingers through her hair and placing wild flowers along her hair.

Thinking about giving Angelina up to the Black Knights on Halloween didn’t seem right to me anymore. I couldn’t allow myself to tear apart Niall and Angelina. Thinking about their love, reminded me of my relationship with Harry. I knew that if I were to be torn from Harry, I wouldn’t survive. That would mean the same for Angelina and Niall, might be even more painful for them actually.

Harry pulled away and looked deep into my eyes. He asked, “Baby, what’s wrong? Jazlyn, why are you crying?” Harry wiped the tears away from my face with his thumbs.

I didn’t even realize I was crying. I smiled weakly, “Nothing, I’m just...I’m just really happy. Being with you and this family, it’s just...it’s a great feeling. I was wrong about you and your family. You’re different. You’re all different. I’m sorry.”

“Don’t apologize,” he said softly. “What happened to your family made sense for you to feel that way about our kind? No one can blame you for that.”

“You don’t understand…”

“Yes, I do.” Harry caressed my cheek. “Jazlyn, I love you no matter what.” Before I could even say my secret, he kissed me deeply that made me forget what I wanted to tell him. Would he still love me if I told him who I really was and what I was after? No, he wouldn’t.

Which is why, I can’t tell him anything. It was either keep the Black Knights a secret or lose him and there was no way I would lose him, so the Black Knights will be forever a secret to Harry and the others. I won’t lose Harry.

Ever.
