Harry's POV

It's Alex's 10th birthday tomorrow, or rather, me and Alex's, though nobody remembered it was mine too, well, besides Padfoot, Uncle Moony and Anguis that is. Not even Lily or James noticed, though I'm not surprised. And if you're wondering why I called them by their names and not mom and dad, well, you'll find out. You see... isn't that a nice way to start a sad story, because that's what I'm about to tell you, a sad story. After Dumbledore declared Alex as the boy who lived things instantly went downhill for me.

For starters, since Voldemort, I don't see him as the Dark Lord, and won't until I have a conversation with him, was 'defeated' by my brother, which I know is wrong, I was the one to defeat him, we moved back into the Potter manor. Now as infants the only difference was that Alex was always served first and that they would spend more time playing with him then with me, which I didn't really mind, but after me and Alex had been old enough to eat and go to the bathroom by ourselves, which was around 4 or 5 years old, things started to change based on how they treated me. To put it blankly, they started to... forget about me, or not want me around at least.

At first it was James forgetting to tuck me in at night or Lily forgetting to call me down to meals, but then it escalated to forgetting to get me a plate of food and not calling me down when they had company. I had to learn to walk, read, and cook on my own, since the house elves were too busy with Alex making a mess everywhere and I didn't want to disturb them, they didn't mind me in the kitchen anyway so it didn't really matter.

I remember when I took my first steps when I was two, it wasn't towards mommy and daddy, they weren't even around, it was to Uncle Moony. Alex didn't start walking till he was four. When I did my first act of accidental magic, when I was three, which was very young for any wizard to even experience magic, it was because Alex had pushed me down the stairs and I had a broken arm, I had healed it just by looking at it. I also taught myself to talk, though I hardly ever did, why talk if nobody is around to hear you. I was about three when I said my first word, which was 'Padfot' if I remember correctly, and yes I know I shouldn't remember three year old me, but I have an eidetic memory, meaning I remember everything I see. This also means that I know I am the true boy who lived, but I don't say anything because I know nobody will believe me.

Anyway, I don't really mind not having James and Lily around much, I actually quite enjoy it... well... sort of. Every now and then Alex will break something or do something bad and blame it on me, which causes me to get yelled at for. I always say how I didn't do it and that Alex did but that resolves into me getting slapped in the cheek or getting a kick in the stomach for 'lying' and 'blaming my brother for my actions'. Some might say that I should just say I did it, but it would end the same, with me getting hit. That was the reason Uncle Moony and Padfoot got banned from entering the wards around the Potter manor, because they yelled at James for being a bad parent after they saw James hit me.

Sirius and Remes were the only people who really talked to me, besides Lily and James when I 'broke' something, and the elves whenever I needed something, so I considered going mute, but then, I met Anguis... my snake familiar.

Flash back

Harry's POV still

It was my 'sweet' brother's 7th birthday and I was in the library reading a book on magical creatures and their diets, when I heard talking from the isle of books next to the one I was in. I felt a pull towards whatever it was so I listened to what it was saying.

"Pesky humans, think they can come waltzing onto my territory and kick me out. Lazy scum bags." I heard it say. I walked over there to see a baby snake on the ground slithering towards me. It was black with red eyes and it was about one in a half feet long. "If I wasn't so young I would've killed that young boy who was nibbling on the cake." The snake said, before stopping right in front of me. By what the snake said I knew it was talking about Alex. When we made eye contact the pull I felt was more intense. We stare at each other for a second before the snake talks again. "Master?" It asks. I look at the snake confused.

"Master? What do you mean master? I am not your master." I said. The snake looked at me amazed, or at least... I think it was amazed, it was hard to tell considering it was a snake.

"A speaker?" The snake said, before bobbing it's head from excitement. "My master's a speaker!" It said. I sat down criss-cross in front of the snake.

"What do you mean by 'speaker'? You're speaking english." I said. The snake let out some form of a laugh before speaking.

"I'm not speaking english, why would I speak that horrid language." It laughed. "You are speaking in the snake language, master. I have never encountered one of those before. They are very rare, granted, I'm only a couple weeks old." The snake said. I was astonished, I hadn't even realized I was speaking that language, I would have to do some research later to find more information on it.

"What is your name? And why do you keep calling me master?" I asked it. I didn't like referring to it as an... well... it.

"I do not have a name, you are to name me master. I keep calling you master because I am your familiar. That was the pull you were feeling, as I got a similar pull when I made eye contact with you." The snake said proudly. I let my arm out for the snake to slither onto and it did just that.

"So... I get to name you?" I say, trying to wrap my head around what I was being told. I have heard of familiars, though nobody in my family has had one, though I guess it is something that isn't really blood related, and more lady magic choosing who gets a familiar and who doesn't.

"Correct, though I would prefer a more masculine name, since I am a male." The snake said. Well that made it easier, now I didn't have to refer to him as in 'it'. After a few minutes of thinking, I thought of the perfect name.

"Anguis, I'll call you Anguis." I said with a smile as Anguis slithered up my arm to around my neck.

"Perfect master." Anguis said before falling asleep.

Flashback over

Harry's POV still... again

It has only been almost three years since I meet Anguis, tomorrow marking three years, but we have gotten to know each other over the years, though I could never get her to stop calling me master, I've given up at this point. We would usually hang out in the library since nobody came in there, even the house elves, so nobody would accidentally see Anguis, cause if somebody did then they would for sure panic and try to kill her. Plus I practically lived in the library, hardly ever leave, only to go to the bathroom and get food, most nights I fall asleep in there, so I rarely use my bedroom. I spend all my time there, my head in a book.

I love reading, ever since I taught myself to read at 4 I was rarely scene without a book in my arms. I read books about transfiguration, charms, jinxes, defense against the dark arts, and other things that weren't as magic related like magic history, studies about magical creatures, and pureblood culture and lifestyle. And how could I forget my favorite genre... Potions! I loved it, the thought of being able to brew anything right in front of you, being able to manipulate a person's view, taste, and perspective of things. It was amazing!

I always dreamed of making my own potions and spells one day. I mean I've made my own versions of spells like the Accio spell, so that instead of it coming from who knows where to get into your hands, it just appears there. I started to do it like that when I was 7, which was when my brother started his training and I started to learn how to do wordless and wandless magic. I've never done magic with a wand, my brother got a wand when he started training, an 11.5 inch wand made out of chestnut wood and a phoenix feather core, but I didn't get one, since I wasn't going into training. I didn't mind though, that's why I started to learn wandless magic, and while I was at is I started to learn wordless magic too.

Anyways, I was in the middle of reading a book on creature inheritances when Anguis slithered over to me and slithered on to Voldemort's cloak, which I was using as a blanket. When I was younger Lily and James tried to get rid of the cloak, and by that I mean putting it up in a chest in the attic, but when they did I would start to make sniffling noises and tiny pouting noises, making a scene that would break even the coldest of hearts. They would always end up giving me the cloak back, even if they didn't want to because it disturbed then, because they wouldn't be able to stop my sniffling and tears if they didm't. The thing was that I never screamed and sobbed loudly for it like my brother did for anything he wanted, I would sit there and quietly let out snuffling noises that could make anybody's heart break. Now a days I kept it in the library so that Lily and James didn't try to take it away again. I don't know why I like the cloak so much, I guess I just liked the warmth of it, the fell I got from it that I didn't get from any other blankets or cloaks.

"What are you reading master?" Anguis asked as he made himself comfortable on Voldemort's cloak right next to me. Anguis had only grown about two feet since we meet, but was still as poisonous as a basilisk, but instead of a glare, it was venom.

"I'm reading about creature inheritances." I said.

"Why?"

"Because there is a chance that I might get one tonight."

"How?" Anguis asked.

"Well, only purebloods can have creature inheritances, and even then they are very rare. I did some digging into my 'mother's' family tree to find that she is, in fact, a pureblood, and that she has just come form a long line of squibs. Because of this me and Alex are technically purebloods, and on my 'fathers' side of the family, his family would have children with creature inheritance every 4 generations, which just so happens to land on me and Alex, so if the family tree and Potter name keeps its act together, then that would mean that tonight me and Alex would be going though our creature inheritances, or at least one of us will. It may be him, considering he's older, but the family tree has only said the second or third child has had a creature inheritance, so there is just as big of a chance that I will get one too." I say.

I had been doing research on creature inheritances all day. I had found out a lot of good information. Like how children will go through their inheritance at such a young age so that they can meet their mate at a young age and get to know them as they go to school together instead of meeting and instantly mating. I also read that submissives can be more sensitive, since their main purpose is to serve their mate and produce their mate's children, while the dominants job is to protect their submissive and kids. If a submissive is to reject a dominant, then the dominant will physically feel pain until it kills them, since the dominant will feel that he didn't protect the submissive good enough. If a dominant rejects their submissive however, things are mildly sadder, because the purpose of a submissive is to serve a dominant, the submissive will feel that they were not good enough which will mentally harm them until either they find a new dominant or until it's too much and they kill themselves. And while submissives are most of the time females, males may also be submissive, though they will grow a female reproductive system and have a slightly feminine body. It goes the same with dominants, though the standard dominant is male, they may also be female, which will give them more muscle to be able to protect their submissive with. Though if there were to be a female dominant, they would always have a female submissive, same goes for if there was a male submissive, they would always have a male dominant, never would there be a female dominant and a male submissive.

"Well do you think you will be a submissive or a dominant?" Anguis asked me. I didn't really know. I mean I would think that I would be a submissive, I mean how would I take care of another if I couldn't even take care of myself against my family? Plus, I never found girls attractive. The very few girls that would come over like Ginny, Luna, and Cho, who didn't even know I existed, where cute and all, but I never found them attractive. I did, however, sometimes catch myself looking out the window a little longer then normal whenever Fred and George were over and were flying their brooms in the yard. I wouldn't say I liked them, but I definitely would say that I like guys more then girls. So would that make me... gay? I don't know, definitely not straight though.

"I don't know, I couldn't imagine being a dominant, so I guess submissive." I say quietly.

"Hm." Anguis says, clearly tired. I let out a small giggle as I mark what page I'm on in my book before getting up, wrapping Anguis up in Voldemort's cloak, which he also really liked, and picked up the cloak.

"Come on, lets get to bed." I say as I leave the library and quietly go towards my room. This was one of the rare times that I would bring Anguis out of the library, and the reason why I am is because its about 11:30 at night and and right now even the house elves are asleep, so I wasn't worried about somebody seeing Anguis. I walk into my bedroom, if you could even call it that, and set Anguis down on my bed. I never got any glances at Alex's room, mainly because his room is on the fourth floor while mine is on the third along with the library, so I only ever leave the third floor when I have to get food in the kitchen, which is on the first floor, but I know ours are very different. His is probably all red and gold, Gryffindor colors no doubt, just like the rest of the house, with brooms and quidditch posters and toys all scattered everywhere while my room was mainly grey and red, though I preferred green. It had an old bed in there with a bookshelf, desk, and dresser, along with a closet and my own bathroom. It wasn't as if this room hasn't been cleaned in 100 years, but the elves never came by to clean it so I had to do it in my spare time, which wasn't very often, so there was a little bit of dust here and there. There were many books scattered on the bookshelf and desk. None of them were from the Potter library, though, Lily use to take me and Alex to Flourish and Blotts Bookseller and let us pick out books. Even though Alex never reads, he would pick out quidditch books with pictures in them while I picked out advanced charms or defense against the dark arts books, and other advanced types of books too. I was only ever able to get light ones though, sadly, mainly because Lily and James despised anything that involved dark magic, and if they saw me reading a dark magic book, which I wanted to do oh so badly, I wouldn't hear, or feel, the end of it, but also because Flourish and Blotts Bookseller didn't have any dark magic books, so the most I could do is sneak was a few grey magic books while Lily was checking out. That was a long time ago, 4 ½ years ago I think.

I made a quick reminder to go to Knockturn alley for books next time I left the house, which would probably be when I get my Hogwarts stuff next year, since I will no doubt be getting into Hogwarts. I get my pajamas on and slipped into my bed, as soon as I got comfortable on my side, with Anguis laying against my stomach, Anguis started to cuddle into my stomach and I started to feel drowsy. Right before falling asleep I felt a slight burning feeling in my back and tailbone, before everything went black.

Word count: 2973

DANG IT I WANTED TO GET TO 3000!!! Oh well, maybe next chapter. This one I'm posting the same day I posted last chapter only because I finished this one the same day and I want to post it before tomorrow, since tomorrow I have school and won't be able to post again until at least Thursday, but I'll still be writing the next chapter through the week.

Anyways, what do you all think will happen? Do you think Harry will get a creature inheritance? Do you think Alex should get one too? (I'm asking because I haven't started writing the next chapter yet and have an idea on what would happen if Alex did or didn't have a creature inheritance, since it wouldn't change the story plot too much, just adding a few more or a few less details, but I can't make a decision, so I ask the readers, also I will not be asking for your guy's input very often because I already have this whole story planned out in my head and I am not willing to change half of it just to ask what the readers prefer.)

Also, does anybody know what Anguis means? Let me know if you do. Also, this is what Anguis looks like.
