"Elena?"
Bella was a little shocked to see her sister hop down the stairs. "Ready?" Edward asked both girls.
"What?" Bella asked.
"Elena is coming with us to play baseball." Edward have a half smile.
"You're taking my other one too?" Charlie asked coming up to the three teenagers.
"I told Jasper I could ride with Edward and Bella since he was coming to pick her up anyway. I hope that's okay Dad?" Elena looked at her father.
"I guess I like that Jasper kid. Have them home safely Edward."
"Yes sir." Edward nodded to Charlie Swan before leading both girls out to the Jeep.
Bella turned around in her seat. "Why did you lie to Charlie?"
Elena sighed. "Jasper and I got into a fight last night. I got some information that proved me wrong so now I have to apologize."
"Elena Swan was wrong?" Bella fake gasped. "How dare someone so right be so wrong."
"I'll make this car crash right now Bella I swear." Elena threatened.
"Yeah right." Bella scoffed.
"She probably could Bella. I wouldn't test it." Edward chuckled. Elena stuck her tongue out at her sister who just rolled her eyes.
"I'm definitely the more mature one."
"I'm definitely the smart one. But who could tell the difference?" Elena sat back in her seat and stared out the window until the got to their destination.
Edward helped Bella out of the car and Elena stayed back for a few seconds. She looked down to make sure her outfit was okay. A pair of Jeans and a long sleeve shirt. They matched so Alice wouldn't tell Elena anything. Hopefully Jasper will forgive her and they could just forget about last night ever happening.
She stepped out of the car and the second she did she saw Jasper. He had his hair under a baseball cap and was wearing a 3/4 length shirt. He had a jacket in his left hand and a baseball bat in his right.
The second he smelled her scent he wanted nothing more than to run up and pull her into his arms and apologize for not explaining anything sooner. She wanted the same thing. She felt a longing for the boy and wanted nothing more than to be in her arms. She gave him a small smile and he ran to her and almost knocked her off her feet.
"Elena."
"Jasper." They whispered each other's names.
"Listen, Jas I-"
"I should've told you sooner but I just didn't know how." He dug his face into her neck and inhaled her scent.
"Jasper." She put her hands in the hair that wasn't covered by his hat and pulled him even closer to her.
"I should've let you explain that night but I didn't. I was wrong and I'm sorry." She apologized as her grip tightened on him.
He pulled away with a smirk on his face. "You, wrong? I thought I'd never see the day." Elena pushed him away.
"You too? I swear I hate people." She grumbled as she crossed her arms in front of her chest.
"Yeah I'm sure you do." He grabbed her by the waist and pulled her back to him. He slowly started leaning in wanting to feel her lips against his again.
"Okay lovebirds that's enough!" Alice called. "It's time." Jasper just rolled his eyes and started walking with Elena over to where his family was.
"Here." Jasper put his jacket around Elena. "It's cold I don't know why you didn't bring one of your own." She just rolled her eyes and pushed him away.
"Go play." Jasper stood next to Carlisle and behind Rosalie who was up first. Elena fixes the jacket so it completely surrounded her and buttoned it up.
She ran to Bella and Esme right before Rosalie hit the baseball flying towards her. The ball went flying across the field. So Elena and Bella everything was happening so fast they could barely keep up with it but to the vampires it was normal speed.
"Now I see why you need the thunder." Bella told Esme.
"That's definitely a home run right?" Elena asked happily.
"Edwards very fast." Esme smiled brightly.
Before Rosalie made it to home base Esme caught the ball that was flying towards her.
"You're out." Bella spoke.
"Wooo! Out!" Rosalie glared at her husband. "Aw. Come on babe it's just a game." Rosalie walked by Bella and stared at her while lightly brushing her arm.
"Nice game." Carlisle patted Rosalie's shoulder before he walked up to bat. Elena felt an arm wrap around her stomach and immediately leaned back into his arms.
"He's right Rose. Almost a home run." Elena winked at her. Rose lightly shoved her girl who just laughed.
Next up was Jasper who was doing a trick with the bat. "Show off." Elena muttered. She could see the smirk on his face as he got into position to bat. He hit the ball and ran. Emmett climbed up a tree to catch it making Rosalie speak.
"My monkey man." Elena laughed along with the blonde. Of course he was out and Rosalie's turn was up. She hit the ball and took off running. Elena was cheering her on when Alice yelled to the group.
"Stop!" The family's vision went to the forest where they could sense a smaller group coming. Quickly everyone ran together. "They we're leaving but they heard us." Edward ran to Bella and tried quickly remove her from the scene.
"Elena." Jasper grabbed her arm and started to follow Edward and Bella.
"It's too late." Carlisle spoke to the two boys. Edward quickly told Bella to put her hair down and Jasper took off his hat and placed it on top of Elena's head. Her hair was already in a bun so the hat didn't sit right on her head.
Jasper immediately put Elena behind him and walked alongside his family. The two human girls made eye contact clearly not knowing what was going on at the moment.
Jasper held Elena between himself and Rosalie. Soon a group of three vampires ended up less than 10 feet away from the bigger group. The dark skinned man in the middle held up the baseball the Cullen's were playing with. "I believe this belongs to you." He tosses it to Carlisle who caught it without batting an eye.
"I am Laurent. And this is Victoria and James." Victoria was a beautiful woman with fiery red hair in waves passed her shoulders. She was wearing a kiss me I'm Irish top with a white furry cover up.
James was blonde with his hair slicked back in a ponytail. He was wearing nothing but a leather jacket and jeans. He was keeping his eyes on Edward who wouldn't look him in the eye.
Elena noticed that no one in the group had shoes on. They must've been nuts because it was extremely freezing. Unless. Vampires. That's when she noticed their eye color. Bright red. It was quite frightening to the girl but the Cullen's stood their ground.
"I'm Carlisle. This is my family." If they weren't in the situation they were in, Elena would've cheered because Carlisle mentioned Bella and Elena as their family. It was also probably because they needed to protect their identity from these strangers.
"Hello." Laurent greeted.
"I'm afraid your hunting activities have cause something of a mess for us." Elena knew what he meant. The animal attacks. That's when it occurred to her that these are vampires that don't feed off of animals like the Cullens.
"Our apologies. We didn't realize the territory had been claimed." Elena could tell he wasn't sincere about the apology he had given.
"Yeah. Well, we maintain a permanent residence nearby."
"Really?" Laurent looked to James. "Well we won't be a problem anymore. We were just passing through."
"The humans were tracking us but we led them east." Victoria leaned forward, "you should be safe."
"Excellent." Elena noticed how Carlisle kept himself calm even with the immediate threat to his family. He never let his guard down.
"So could you use three more players?" Laurent laughed. The family looked to Carlisle to see what he would decide. "Oh come on. Just one game."
Carlisle gave in thinking of how this is an opportunity to get the girls out safely. "Sure. Why not? A few of us were leaving. You could take their place. We'll bat first." Carlisle threw the ball back to the three where the woman Victoria intercepted it.
"I'm the one with the wicked curveball." She smirked. Elena noticed how the three kept their guard up as well not very trusting in these animal drinking vampires.
"Oh well I think we can handle that." Jasper tried to lighten the mood. Elena looked up at him like he was crazy. She knew that she was one of the players that the vampires were going to replace but she thought Jasper would go with her.
The family laughed and started to walk off Jasper pulled Elena in front of him and walked with an arm wrapped around her. The only players left where the two groups originally were, was Edward, Bella and the man named James.
The second the couple turned around they heard James talk. "You brought a snack." This caught the attention of everyone including Elena. The Cullens ran forward to protect Bella and Elena jumped in front of her as to block her from their sight.
"The girl is with us." Carlisle tried to reason with them.
"I can see the game is over. We'll go now." Laurent tried to back away slowly knowing his coven was outnumbered. Rosalie was in front of Victoria and Edward was in front of James. "James." The man stood up from his crouched position and started to walk away. Victoria hissed and was instantly attached to her mate. Together the three of them left the clearing but Elena knew she would see them again.
"Get Bella out of here." Carlisle pushes Edward towards the Jeep.
"Elena stay with Jasper." Edward called.
"What? No way!" Elena tried to follow her sister but Jasper held her in place.
"I'll take you home." Jasper whispered in her ear.
"I'll see you there Bella." Elena called trying to comfort her sister. Bella just nodded in response and was taken to the Jeep the three had arrived in.
"Go." Carlisle told Jasper.
Jasper grabbed his mate's arm and threw her on his back before running to the Swan house like he promised.
