"Come on Morgan, that is so unlike you. You were never the type to just give up when something doesn't work out the first time." Kim said following behind me in the house. "Your mantra was always 'Never give up, always try again' so what happened to that side of you?"
"It died the minute you signed me up on that site." I said to her before shuddering internally. "I am definitely not going on another blind date with some disgusting or arrogant old guy."
"Come on Morgy..."
"Do not call me that." I said to her.
"Okay but what happened was a week ago. The next guy may not be like any of the others you've been out with. You know you have less than four weeks left before your tuition is due? You still need assistance with that don't you?" Kim asked me "You could so find that guy for you."
"Kim, that it practically the same thing as blackmailing someone you know that? Why can't you just take no for an answer?” I asked becoming a little annoyed and impatient with her.
"Because no is a negative word Morgan."
"Kim leave me alone please, I beg of you."
"No, I won't Morgan. You know that I am right too... "
"What is the matter with you two girls?" Mom asked as we entered the kitchen still arguing. "What's with the bickering?"
"Kim is trying to pressure me into doing something that I don't want to." I said to mom as I went into the cupboard to get a snack.
"That is not entirely the truth Aunty Emma." Kim said to her. "See what happened is, I have this friend that is interested in Morgan and would like to take her out. I think that he is a really nice guy. So I was only trying to encourage her to go out with him and see how things go from there, is that such a bad thing?"
"More like forcing me to go out with him." I commented after getting two bags of chips and tossing one to her, "After what happened with the last 'two friends' I went out with, I don't think so."
"What happened?" Mom asked curiously.
"Mom, they were absolute disaster."
Flashback
Date #1
"Hi, you must be Morgy." An elderly guy who seemed to be in his 70s said to me as I sat in the restaurant waiting for my date.
"Uhmm... And you are sir?" I asked narrowing my eyes at him suspiciously.
Please don't tell me this is what I think it is.
"I'm Oscar. Oscar Moore? We communicated over the site, I believe that I am your date this evening." the guy smiled before sitting down across from me.
What the hell? Is this for real? The guy Kim had showed me profile said he was 45 years old and his picture was way younger. What did this old guy do, put up a picture of a younger guy or something? A pin-up male model maybe? Did he really steal someone's identity or just their pictures?
"I'm sorry, I'm not sure who you would like to meet but I'm afraid you're mistaken." I said to him trying to escape the awkward situation.
"Oh no, no I'm not mistaken. You are my date today; you're Morgy Rose aren't you? I know that I don't really look much like my pictures anymore but I know you're the one- I recognized that very same lovely hair color from your profile pictures."
"Sir, I'm sorry, I don't know who Morgy Rose is but that is not me. Maybe you have me mistaken for someone else. There are a lot of people who have the same color hair as mine. I have never been on any sort of sites or agreed to meet up with anyone from any site. I think someone is messing with you though sir. I'm here to meet my boyfriend Carlos- oh look there he is. I'm sorry I have to go." I gave him a smile as I got up and rushed off to the door to greet a random guy.
I told the guy that I loved his cologne and asked him what it was called. He was really nice and told me it was Armani. We talked for a couple more seconds before dashing out of the restaurant making sure that old guy never saw me again.
Date #2
So I had decided to go on another dinner date even after what happened the last time. This guy was supposedly a lawyer, 49 years old, divorced with no kid. He works throughout the day so a dinner date was the most suitable for him. His name was Daniel Bohen. One thing with Kim was that she certainly knew how to choose guys based on their appearance and job status- except for that one old guy Oscar who was a catfish.
When Kim introduced me to this guy, I decided to give it another chance- after all, this guy was also good lucking and well off. So I allowed Kim to choose my dinner outfit and everything. She of course wanted me to look my best and impressed Daniel. So she came over and chose a cute little red dress from my closet because according to her, red was my color. She even did my makeup and chose a red lipstick to go with my dress. I couldnt deny the fact that I was an absolute knockout for this date.
I kept hoping that this guy wouldn't be such a pig or another liar who stole someone else's identity this time. My hopes were shattered however, I almost missed that horrible lunch date with bad table manners Gerard and the date that never got to happen with catfish Oscar. Now Daniel had perfect table manners and all, he was still good looking for an older guy but his personality stinks, it was literally dog's shit.
"You know that I've never really been into redheads while growing up." Daniel said to me over dinner.
"Okay?" I said unsure of what exactly to say or how to respond to his comment.
*With my strawberry blond hair, I know that I too would be considered a redhead.
"Yeah, you're all just too damn wild and fiery tempered for me." he said to me.
Okay, seriously what was this guy’s deal? Did he invite me to dinner just to insult and vent his hatred for redheads to me? And by the way my hair was actually strawberry blonde, though people often see it as the same thing as being redheaded.
"I still married one though. My ex-wife was a redhead like you, but she was a damn gold-digging hoe. She cheated on me with a loser." he said to me. I was positive that the alcohol in the wine was getting to his head now.
"Did I also tell you that my girlfriend before her was a redhead too? And she too was another gold digging hoe- All you redheads are hoes."
I really had to look at this guy with shock.
"Seriously?" I said- my face written with disgust.
"Oh, you're upset? I really didn't mean to offend you or anything at all but it’s just the truth isnt it?" He asked before shrugging nonchalantly. "Come on, why else would you signed up for that site and agreed to this date if you weren't like one of those money hungry gold digging hoes?"
Really? This guy was a serious piece of work. He really just said that to my face and didn't seem to be the least bit remorseful or anything. It was like making a blonde joke to a blonde. That was just straight up rude and disrespectful.
"My ex-wife cheated on me all the time." He sneered. Damn redhead.
"I can totally see why." I said in disgust.
"She was a stupid hoe and I slapped the crap out of her when I found out what she did. Then I divorced her and left her with nothing. Must be crazy thinking that she was getting a single thing from me when she left. She came to me with nothing so she left with nothing- I made sure of that. The idiot bragged.
“However, I'm smarter now since that. I told myself that if I'm ever getting back together with another gold digging bitch it was one who I was willing to pay as long as we both understand the terms of our agreement. Like you right now, you're even so much prettier than she was and I won't have an issue with you spending my moneyas long as you don’t cross me too. Because I'm a serious man and I'll slapped the shit out of you too if you slip up. I'm not the kind of man who is afraid to discipline his woman."
"You are such an impudent misogynist asshole." I said getting up from the table. "I am done here. Go find yourself another needy and stupid hoe who doesnt mind being smacked around as long as theyre being rewarded after because I am not it."
I grab the remainder of the wine that was in my glass and threw it in his face before stepping out
**
**End of flashback**
"What? You threw water on him?" Mom asked in surprised and disbelief. "Morgan, the guy just openly admitted to abusing women and you threw water in his face?"
"He also openly insulted me so he deserved it. We were in a crowded restaurant so I doubt he would've tried anything publicly that could ruin his reputation as a lawyer." I responded "And if he had tried anything, my dad is a cop remember?”
"You have to be careful Morgan, you can't take risks and chances with men like those." mom said to me. "Those are the type of men that will kill women."
"Exactly. That is why I refuse to go on another one of these dates. Who knows what kind of criminal background the next guy might have?" I responded.
"Wait, I thought you said that he was a friend of yours?" mom said to Kim.
"He was; I just didn't know he had such an awful personality otherwise." Kim responded to cover her story.
We were not exactly going to tell my mom that we've signed up to date older men online.
"Morgan, I am sorry for Daniel’s rude behavior but you know that I would never introduce you to just any creep if I knew." Kim said to me.
"Oh, not any creep but just the high class, well off and arrogant creeps?" I raised a brow at her.
"Morgan, if it means that much to Kim for you to go out with her friend, then just go on one date. You're smart so I know you'll take the precautions of blind dating." mom said to me.
"Whose side are you on?" I asked her looking at her in disbelief.
"All I'm saying is that you're young, go out with this guy. see what he's like. Who knows you may even like him but if you don’t, then you are free to call it quits. You don't have to see him again; it’s not like you're going to marry the guy at first meet. It is one date- what do you have to lose?"
Seriously mom? I couldnt help but looking at her with betrayal.
"That is exactly what I've been saying." Kim agreed with a satisfied grin. "Thank you so much for putting it clearer auntie Emma."
