(Y/N):Your name
(BF/N):Best friend's name
"Mom! This isn't fair!"You screamed in anger in the living room, "(Y/N), listen to your mother!"Your father shouted. How did your family get so angry? Well, on the first day of summer, your mother sat you down and said how she didn't like your best friend just cause they weren't all fancy, rich and perfect 'like you'. She went on and on about how you're better off without them, but you disagreed and that disagreement led to an argument. (BF/N) meant everything to you, why all of a sudden your parents want them gone and the only reason was that (BF/N) wasn't all perfect and came from a rich family.
"Mom dad, that is ridiculous! (BF/N) has been with me since day 1 why do you want them gone?!"You argued "You can make new friends! They'll change in high school and leave you! You can make friends with one of my coworkers kids on 'bring your child to work day' next week! There will be plenty of boys and girls there"Your dad said in annoyance siding with your mother, like always. "I met those kids last year and they were the worst! Are you kidding me?!"You shouted in rage, the nerve of them.
"There will probably be new kids! Did you even give the kids you met last year a chance? Get to know them! I bet you'll meet a kid so great you won't even need that (BF/N) anymore"Your dad said. "Dad, don't talk about (BF/N) like that!"You yelled "(Y/N), enough! Go to your room!"Your mom got up and yelled. Out of anger you stormed to your room, you got out your phone to rant to (BF/N) about it. It took them 20 more minutes to respond but you didn't mind since (BF/N) had their own life and you were used to this by now.
Next week
Your dad got you up in the morning for the day of bring your child to work day. (BF/N) wished you good luck before going because you told them about the terrible kids there. Your dad walked you in the building and made you say hello to the other kids there even the kids you wished you could choke to death and not get in trouble for it.
Your dad showed you what he usually does, it didn't impress you it just bored you to death. Until, your dad took you to hang out with the other kids there cause he had to attend something. Now you were just with your dad's coworkers kids even the ones you met last year. "Ha, I'm impressed you even showed up after what happened last year"One of the girls there scoffed. Jane, the girl there dressed in purple always came in some fancy dress and a bad attitude. "My parents forced me to come, I didn't wanna see your ugly faces again"You snapped back to which Jane rolled her eyes and the other kids there turned to Jane to see if she would do anything back.
"Whatever, hey what's that you got?"Jane said then pointed to your chest, "I'm not falling for that, Jane. I don't care how dumb you think I am I'm not"You rolled your eyes "I'm not tricking you, I just wanna see...What you got!".
Jane then ripped the necklace you had around your neck so fast you didn't even see it coming. "I knew you'd try to look good with a cheap necklace"Jane mocked swinging your necklace around. "Jane, that was a gift I'm not joking!"You ran towards her but she threw it to another kid there, you ran towards that kid but they just threw it to another kid. The reason why you were so panicked about that necklace was because (BF/N) made it for you for your birthday. Despite how much your parents mocked it for looking cheap you still valued it. Soon, the whole thing became a game of monkey in the middle until it got back to Jane.
But Jane didn't throw it to anyone next, she just put it on the ground and was going to step on it. Now you were mad, your chest hurt from anger, your fists were balled and your face was red. You didn't even think about what were going to do you just did it, you impulsively grabbed your necklace and Janes neck pulling her backwards. You got your free hand and threw your fist into Jane's face, but your impulsive action had consequences. Jane had flew into a bookshelf nearby and hit the back of her head on it, thinking that was all? Think again.
A heavy book fell from the shelf and hit Jane on the head causing her to pass out on her side. A part of you thought it was justified and that she shouldn't have poked the bear but the other part of you was horrified at what you've done and was starting to panic that may have killed her, over a necklace. You put the necklace back around your neck with shaking hands but those kids have been bullying you since bring your child to work day last year you had to show how strong you were the next time you come back to your dad's job.
"Guys, we heard a loud bang-"A woman said walking in on where you and the other kids were with some other coworkers, including your father. The woman stopped talking and the adult's eyes were on Jane laying on her side, "Jane!"Another woman screeched in panic running to Jane, turns out it was Jane's mom. "Kids, what happened?!"Your dad said walking in more, you didn't even answer you just stared your feet not knowing to say. A short brunette boy was the first to speak even exaggerating to situation, Jane's mother asked if this was true and everyone pointed a finger at you. "(Y/N), we are leaving!"Your dad stomped to you aggressively grabbing your wrist while you held onto your necklace around your neck tightly feeling glad you saved your necklace but also scared for your life when you get home.
As your dad was walking you out of there you looked back at Jane as her mother cried for an ambulance. Your eyes shrunk knowing why her mom was so panicked seeing her at first, a small stain of blood was where Jane hit her head on that bookshelf. Could you have killed her?
When you got home, your parents were yelling so loud you thought (BF/N) could hear it. "(Y/N) I can't believe it I can't trust you anymore after this! You gave a girl a concussion and possible brain damage over a cheap necklace!"Your dad shouted, "It's that (BF/N) isn't it? They're a bad influence everything was fine until they came along, they're better off gone!"Your mom yelled. "You guys haven't gotten my side of the story-"You tried to argue back but your mother slapped your arm to silence you. "What side?! That you're crazy, who knows you probably killed the girl!"Your mom screamed in anger, you couldn't believe this. Your own parents choosing the side of some coworkers kid and not their own.
"Fine then if you're so worked up over some purple brat then go be her parents you obviously don't wanna be mine!"Your voice cracked as you cried, for this whole argument you have been holding back your tears and sadness now they were coming out. Your sadness made the situation worse, your parents were yelling at you for 'playing the victim' and 'crying your way out of this'. "Great...12 years old and a crybaby crazy person...You know I don't know where this child came from, you must have came from outer space cause there's no way me and your father, two sane people made a violent, crybaby child"Your mother said.
Those words stabbed you like a knife, "They really don't want me..."You thought to yourself as hot tears came out your eyes.
You were grounded for three weeks, every device you had taken away and you couldn't even leave the house. You got an update about the whole Jane thing, Jane only got a serious concussion and a cut on the back of her head from what happened. You just wanted to crawl up in a ball and not wanna be around your parents, you couldn't go a moment without wishing you had (BF/N) with you in some way.
You'd never forget the happiness on your face when you finally got your devices back, you opened up your contacts ready to talk to (BF/N). You saw some past text messages they sent while you were grounded but there was one that made you cry.
'(Y/N), you may have been wondering why recently I'd respond to your text messages late. It was cause I had cancer, (Y/N). I'm sorry for not telling you sooner but I didn't wanna worry you I wanted to focus on spending as much time with you as possible and not worry about this disease. You've always made me wanna be a better version of myself, full of life, never missing a moment to crack a joke and just be better. Don't let my cancer keep you from being you, you'll always be my dearest friend'
Your tears fell from your face uncontrollably, you wiped your face and scrolled down. Now you were just downright bawling.
'(Y/N), this is (BF/N)'s mother. You were their best friend for years, picking them up when they were down, giving them the tough love they needed when they were wrong. (Y/N), (BF/N) is dead, they lost their battle to cancer and my baby is gone. Don't let this stop you from being your best self, they would have wanted you to keep being yourself the (Y/N) that they were drawn to since the beginning. The funeral is in three days, 3pm (Insert place funerals are held)'
You swallowed and looked at the clock, 2:30pm. You still had time...Your parents were out grocery shopping so they couldn't drive you, the funeral was over 10 minutes away so you could just run. You quickly changed into a black outfit you owned, got on some black accessories and shoes also getting on the same necklace they made you. You couldn't believe (BF/N) was actually dead, hospital visits missed cause of your parents taking your phone away. You packed your purse/bag and ran out the house to the funeral, visiting their funeral was the only way you could make it up to (BF/N) and their family. To show you care for them so much, even more than your own parents.
You got there just in time and (BF/N)'s mother was surprised to see you, "(Y/N), you came-"(BF/N)'s mother said but you couldn't look her in the eye without a wave of tears coming back and you fell to your knees crying. "I'm so sorry I couldn't visit (BF/N) in the hospital, I promise I'm not bad friend! My devices got taken away so I didn't see the message I would never abandon (BF/N)!"You said. "Hey, calm down, it's okay"(BF/N)'s mother said then sat you down with her, you and her took deep breathes together. "(Y/N), it's okay you didn't know, it's not your fault your devices got taken away and you couldn't see (Y/N)'s message"(BF/N)'s mom said. You noticed that you forgot to bring flowers but (BF/N)'s mom let you use some of hers to keep you from getting upset even more. The funeral went on and you used the flowers (BF/N)'s mom let you used.
The funeral ended after 1 hour and you walked home. You didn't see your parents car parked yet so maybe they weren't home. You took out your house key and quietly unlocked the door, when you were inside the house locking the door again you felt a hand grab your lower forearm so aggressively you dropped your house key. "Where did you go?! Me and your mother told you to stay here while we were gone!"Your father yelled, "Dad please, I can explain! When my devices were taken away (BF/N) told me they had cancer and today was their funeral! You guys weren't even home so I had to run there!"You explained with a shaking voice.
"Of course! You put (BF/N) before you! You have no self respect, we told you to stay here and away from (BF/N) besides that friendship wasn't even an important one!"Your mom yelled. "Are you joking?! (BF/N) was my best friend! Why are you trying to determine whether or not my friendships are important?!"You shouted, "Enough! Go to your room and don't come out! That (BF/N) is messing with your head!"Your mom shouted pointing to your room. "But mom-"You tried to say but your dad got fed up and slapped your upper forearm so hard you almost fell over.
"Now, (Y/N)!"Your dad screamed then pushed you towards your room to which you ran to holding the upper forearm he slapped. You locked your door on the verge of tears, you undressed yourself from your black outfit. Just when you were going to put on a shirt you looked at your upper forearm where your dad slapped it. Your forearm was red and stinging, (Sorry if your outfit had long sleeves or covered your upper forearms, if your outfit was like that just pretend your upper forearm hurting doesn't exist). You put your shirt on then went to your phone. All you could do now was scroll through your past text messages to (BF/N). "Why do they hate you?"You mumbled reaching the end to the text messages. You looked at your window, you hated this household they went against you during that Jane incident and didn't even show empathy towards you when you left for that funeral.
"They really don't want me..."You thought to yourself thinking about that argument you had with them. Maybe you were right. What's the point of staying where you're not wanted? They probably won't even put up missing posters or file a missing report seeing you gone. You got up from your bed and got the biggest backpack and bag you had. You packed all your stuff, once you were done making sure you weren't missing anything you made a bed sheet rope to climb out your window.
You didn't waste a second running and running away from that place you once called home.
