I woke up in a daze. I looked up, and saw hundreds of other people waking up in stacked bunk beds. I rubbed my eyes. It has to be a dream. I looked down at my torso. I was wearing a teal jumpsuit. There was a number plastered on it. 252. I then heard a voice scream, "Ben!" It was one of my closest friends, Ivy. "Ivy, where are we?" I asked her. She was also wearing a jumpsuit and was number 188.
"I don't know." She answered. "I don't even remember how I got here!" She looked around, and then a familiar face popped out from the top bunk. "John?!" Questioned Ivy. "Hey!" Said John. I looked at John. "Do you remember how you got here?" I asked. "Nope." He muttered. "John, look at your number!" Giggled Ivy. "069!" All three of us laughed.
The suddenly a voice came through the intercom. "All 456 of you are going to compete in a series of games. There will be 7 different games. Red Light, Green Light, Honeycomb, Lights out, Tug- A- war, Marbles, The Glass Bridge and Squid Game. The prize is you make it through all the games is 100,000 dollars. But for every eliminated player, $84.62 will be added."
I looked at Ivy and John, their faces lit up. "We're going to be rich!" John shrieked. Ivy laughed. "Please make your way to the first game." Said the voice. Suddenly, 10 men wearing pink jumpsuits and masks with shapes on their faces entered the room and split us up into 3 groups. Ivy was separated from us, and I was with John. The guards led us into another room, like one you would see in an optical allusion painting. We all got our photos taken, and then we were lead into a dark room with a bottle green door.
"It's kind of spooky, isn't it?" I said to John. "Yeah." He muttered. Suddenly, the bottle green doors opened and we all walked out into a field. Then all 456 of us were back together. We saw Ivy enter through a door on the right hand side. There was a giant doll in front of us, in front of a fake tree. I looked around and saw façade walls blocking the outside view. Motion detecting camera were on them. A voice on the intercom explained to us that once the doll says green light, we can walk, and once it says red light, we stop. The voice said that if we move after red light, we'll be eliminated, and we have to pass the finish line before the five minute timer ends.
"We've got this." John said. We gave each other a fist bump. The doll then shouted, "Green light!" All of us ran forward. "Red light!" The doll said. We all stopped, apart from 3 people that skid across the floor. I then heard gunshots, and the 3 people fell to the floor. John started to panic and wanted to run away, but I stopped him and told him to keep still. Everyone else went crazy. They ran away, but only to get shot by bullets.
After a while the craziness stopped. About 100 bodies were scattered across the ground. "Green light!" Said the doll. We all ran. Ivy soon passed the finish line. So did I and John. there was about 20 people still on the field once the timer ran out. They were all instantly shot. John and I ran over to Ivy. She was crying. We both hugged her tight. "This is messed up..." I said. The guards then came and led us back to the main room.
Once we got there, we all sat on out bunks. The guard said, "Out of the 456 players that played, 186 were eliminated." Ivy was in tears. "You will begin your next game, Honeycomb soon."
