The night was cool and moonless as Ladybug and Chat Noir jumped from rooftop to rooftop all over Paris searching for any signs of a new villain. She could tell he was very worried about her for they had been patrolling for over a couple of hours now and he still hadn't tried to make a joke nor tried to kiss her. Furthermore, he seemed to be increasing the pace at which he was moving. When they reached one of the highest rooftops, he finally stopped. Ladybug slowly approached him. She could see his breathing was agitated. His hands were clenched tightly. He seemed to be about to scream or cry or both.

"Chat Noir, let's sit down and take a break." She offered.
"Not yet. We still haven't found any sort of sign. There's gotta be something," He breathed heavily, trying to catch his breath. "We have let ourselves be seen for hours now. She should be about to attack us... Any moment now."

"Kitty...I know you're worried about me. But you need to calm down. It's not that bad." She said, placing a hand over his shoulder.
He looked away. She could see his eyes were watery. She bit her lip, not really knowing what to say.

"It may not be that bad right now, but, it's more than that. It's just..." he sighed. "Last time our identities got discovered my life was in danger, but at least we knew Hawkmoth was our enemy and we learned who he was and you saved the day. This time it is your life in danger and we don't even really know what's going on,... who our enemy is."

He turned his back to her. "I don't want to loose you. I don't know what... what I would do without you in my life."

"Adrien..." she hugged him from behind. "You are not going to loose me. Yes, we are in disadvantage right now, but we'll find a way to win the high ground again. We'll get out of this one just like we always do. Ok?" She could feel he was sobbing. She broke the hug and hastily walked in front of him. He had his eyes closed, and even thought it was very dark, she could see the tears running down his face. "Oh, kitty..." She hugged him again.

He placed his arms around her and hugged her tightly.
"I'm glad we're transformed into superheroes right now because otherwise you'd be crushing me to pulp with this hug." She laughed.
"Oh, sorry milady." he chuckled, breaking the hug but still keeping his hands over her arms.

Ladybug was happy to see she had been able to bring a smile across his face. She cleaned a tear from his face. "This is my kitty." She said looking at his smile.

He leaned forward and looked like he was about to kiss her when she heard him gasp lightly. His grip on her tightened, his eyes were looking at something behind Ladybug.
"Jackpot, Bugaboo. Don't move. There's someone looking at us from the rooftop across the street."
"What?! Are you sure?" She whispered.
"Positive. I thought I had seen a shadow a while ago, but I wasn't sure. Now I am." He replied.

"What do we do? Should we let him know we've spotted him, see what he wants?"
"No. She's reversing whatever she's done to you first."

The night's coldness and seeing Chat Noir's eyes filled with hatred made her shudder intensely.

"Wait here." And he used his stick to jump towards the rooftop behind her before she could say anything.

In the utter darkness Chat Noir could faintly see the shape moving away fast. He wasn't about to let her get away so easily. He had to catch her. She had to release Marinette from that curse.
Whenever he thought he was about to catch her she seemed to just vanish in the darkness. She was so fast it was like trying to catch his own shadow. More than ever he was now certain this was a Miraculous holder. No way an ordinary person could move this fast.

Moments lived with Marinette as herself and as Ladybug moved before his eyes as he chased this new enemy. The anger of someone messing with that kept fueling his muscles. It enraged him not being able to catch her. Not being good enough to protect the love of his life.

He wasn't seeing anything else around him. He was so much into the chase that he hadn't heard Ladybug behind him, calling him desperately as she tried to catch up with him. At some point she lost sight of him.

She was extremely worried about him. He was letting his feelings, his worry for her cloud his judgement. He could be walking into a trap!
She kept going around in circles around the point she had last seen him. There was no longer any sign of him. For a moment she thought she heard faint chasing noises here and there, but she wasn't sure. What must had been seconds felt like hours. She was about to yell for him.
Suddenly Chat Noir turned around a corner, caught sight of her but he was too close to be able to stop in time and crashed against her.

"Ow! Chat.."
"Sorry Milady. I didn't see you in time."

He got up hurriedly and looked around. "No! Noo! I've lost her." Chat Noir helped Ladybug up and asked "Were you able to see which way she go?"

"I didn't see anyone. I was looking around, trying to find out where you were. Next thing I knew, you were running me over."

"Bugaboo, this was a miraculous holder I'm sure of it." He sighed shakily. "She was lucky tonight, but won't get away so easily next time."
"Lucky?" Ladybug asked and smiled as a thought crossed her mind. "Maybe i can help us getting lucky as well." She said showing him her yo-yo. He smiled. She winked.

"Lucky charm!" She threw her yo-yo up, but then nothing happened. Nothing appeared.
She looked at him alarmed. Then looked at her yo-yo.

"Lucky charm!" She tried calling her power again, but again nothing happened.
"Milady...?"

"I don't understand. What is happening to me?"
"Maybe it didn't work because there was no longer an enemy nearby?"

"No. It's not that. It is difficult to explain, but it is... it feels as if I didn't feel Ladybug's power in me anymore."

"What?!"

"Now we really need some answers, kitty." She said nervously. "Because if I can't use my power anymore,..."
Chat Noir started shaking his head, not liking at all where this was going. "...then i can't be Ladybug anymore. We would need to find someone to replace me."
