Kael felt goosebumps all over his body. How could she possibly have caught up to them?
While the trio had had different experiences with her, they all shared the same opinion: she wasn't a good person.
Celina turned back quickly, ready to attack. She transformed into her werewolf form, growing hair, a tail, and elongating her snout, effectively resembling the animal.
Connor turned himself invisible.
Kael, who was already in front of everyone and closest to Teresa, raised his hand, signaling Celina to stop.
🗣️ "We can't fight here. The townsfolk would be endangered."
Teresa didn't seem to care.
She whistled, and the rest of the vampire clan (🦊🍅🐸) revealed themselves.
🍒 "Do you really think we care about these filthy goblins? Their blood is disgusting. No, we're here for you."
🗣️ "Say, you stink of honey. Did you happen to visit my previous base?"

🍅 "So it is true then—you killed Dylan!"
Kael stared blankly at her. He could briefly recall her voice from before.
🗣️ "...Wait, were you and Dylan the vampires who led the zombie army here from the bloodflower tree?"
The townsfolk started mumbling.
🗣️ "I have no idea who that Dylan guy was, but I did set up a booby trap in case anyone tried to raid my previous abandoned base after she"—he pointed towards Teresa—"discovered it. And I see it worked wonderfully."
There was a brief silence.
🍅 "T-Teresa? You led Dylan towards his death?"
🦊 "Why do you guys follow her lead She seems very uncaring about you," he whispered to the ex-orc.
🐸 "When I first got converted, she was a lot nicer to us, but as more of us died and as The Black Crocodile's demands got tougher, she turned into this. I guess we already respected her and even slightly understood why she's acting like this."
However, Dylan's death finally made her snap.
🍅 "You're always putting us in danger. You lied to me just so I would support your cause. And for what? You don't see us as your friends—we're just pawns to you!"
🍒 "And so what?! Do you really think we have a choice?! The Black Crocodile has us working non-stop with no end in sight! All I'm doing is for the benefit of us all," she shouted.
It was the first time her clan had opposed her orders, and she wasn’t ready for it.
🍒 "I'm doing this for our freedom. We were going to die anyway had we not started this entire plan! Now stop whining and get the human, or else Dylan's death will be in vain."

Everyone had seen this coming from the moment Teresa showed up, but that didn’t make things any easier.
Teresa charged, blood cherries in hand, ready to throw them at Kael to kidnap him. The rest of the vampire clan soon followed. The townsfolk moved out of their way to the cave's walls, nervously watching the scene unfold.
Connor reappeared right in front of the ex-orc and possessed him. Teresa shot her first blood cherry at Kael, who swiftly dodged it. The red cloud started growing, but Celina blew it away with a strong gust of wind from her lungs, redirecting it to the vampire clan. Kael signaled Celina to leave and made a run for the exit. His plan, however, was soon going to be foiled.
Connor, still in possession of the ex-orc, kicked Andrew, making him trip and fall. Afterward, he left the orc's body and followed the duo. Teresa was right behind them.

Kael and Celina began climbing up the canyon, with Teresa behind them, Connor floating above, the vampire clan right behind her, and Andrew at the rear. It was quite a scene to watch. The vampires started to use their superior speed and agility, parkouring their way to the top at a much greater velocity than either Celina or Kael could manage. Another blood cherry was shot, but this time, Connor possessed it mid-air before it could impact anything. He shot it back at the vampires below but missed.
They were almost out of the canyon. This was Teresa's last chance to finally catch him—or so she thought.
The last of her blood cherries was shot. This time, Kael diverted it by picking up the torch they had used to get there and throwing it at the blood cherry. The collision detonated the cherry in such a way that it created a cloud wall between them and the vampires. They finally had the opportunity to get ahead, but their luck soon ran out.
After the longest eight seconds of their lives, the cloud finally dissipated, and the vampire clan resumed their pursuit.

As they exited the canyon's entrance, they were greeted by an unexpected scene. Kael's group was frozen in terror. The three of them were very close to one another. Their uncertainty was apparent. The faint moonlight barely allowed them to see what was in front of them. But they finally caught sight of it.
Six eye-invaders: four goblins, a ghost, and two human-like figures. It was unclear if they were humans, vampires, werewolves, or zombies.
The vampire clan completely forgot about their plan to kidnap Kael. Their immediate survival was endangered.
While they couldn't know if those eye-invaders were in a group out of pure chance or acting under The Black Crocodile's orders, one thing was certain:
Whether or not they liked it, it seemed they would be forced to work together if they wanted to escape this situation.
