We walk into a little diner, the interior is filled with the 80s aesthetic nuances, red booths, LED lighting, posters of icons like Elvis Presley and Marilyn Monroe and im in love with it. I've always seen them in the movies but I've never been one.

I gently guide Emily who's about to walk into a table as her eyes are glued to my phone as she is currently playing crossyroad, apparently 'it's her favourite because it's the only thing she can do'. I have a little folder on my phone called 'Emily's arcade' and have the same for Oscar too.

I look around and see a lot of teenagers taking up the red booths that are rapped around the outskirts of the diner. I look to my right to see four heads that look very familiar, I shrug it off. Why would they be here. The only friends I had when I'm young, I've never had proper friends since and I'm that friend deprived I'm imagining they are actually here.

It's sad.

Im sad.

I was too busy looking around to notice that a girl was taking us to our seats so I quickly speed walk after my family that have left me deserted by the entrance.

"Hi my name is Ellie, if you need anything I'll be either walking around or by the till. Here is a specials menu, then the normal and kids menus" she says handing them out to us.

"is there any drinks I can get you whilst you look at the menu?" she asks

"yeah I'll have a coffee" my mom says

"diet coke, please" I say and she smiles at me

She looks about my age actually, she has blonde hair and her blue eyes shine in the light. Hang on a second that is Jordan's type.

Or Hitlers type.

I can't help but chuckle to myself... Out loud.

"Will you stop being so strange?" Emily asks, "what are you laughing at?"

"I just thought about something" I say and she rolls her eyes at me.

The sass of this little girl.

"I'll have a lemonade" Jordan tells her making eye contact with her and he brushes his hair back.

I'm trying my hardest not to laugh right now, including Emily and Oscar and Jordan's pathetic low-key attempt at flirting.

"These two will just have orange juice" I say and she nods writing it down

"I'll be back in a few" she says before walking away

I look at my mom and she has the same amused expression I have on.

"so you excited to go back to school?" my dad asks, skipping over Jordan's pathetic attempt to 'get the ladies'

I scoff "no not really, I'm glad I get some other human interaction though"

"I've told the school about your recovery" my mom says

"what-"

"I know you want to keep it a secret so I've asked the school not to mention anything that involves the c word in your classes or in public" she tells me

I let out a sigh of relief.

"thank you!" I say

"why don't you want people to know" Oscar pipes up from beside my dad

"because people will treat me differently" I say and he nods

"Fair enough" he says and I chuckle

"I'm going to go to the toilet" I say

"you okay? You don't feel sick do you?" my mom gushes.

"mom I'm fine I need a wee" I say causing Jordan to let out a laugh

"what if she comes back what do you want me to order for you" my mom asks

"that one,please" I say pointing to the menu

I get off the side of the booth and make my way towards the sign that says 'toilets'

The only way I can get to that is if I make my way
past a huge group of teenagers. It always gets my anxiety up, it makes me very uncomfortable to be around people my own age, maybe it's because I've had so little interaction with people my own age, and all I think they are is mean stuck up teenagers from movies.

I walk past them and hear wolf whistles from behind me

"leave her alone Jake" a voice says

I whip my head around to see everyone looking at me and I see Ace standing there

"hey did it hurt when you fell from heaven?" a guy asks who I'm guessing his name is Jake.

"no I died seventeen years ago just like that pick up line" I snap back at him

"oooooooo" his friends go and the girls laugh on his table

I glance to look at Ace and see that he has an amused expression on his face.

"that was good" a girl with black hair tells me

"thanks" I say

"no one talks to me like that" Jake says and before I know it out of nowhere Finn is right in front of me

"Leave her alone Jake" Flynn says, his voice in full threatening mode

"ooo what do we have here, is she your girlfriend?" he asks

"No she's Jordan's sister" Flynn says

"sorry man, I didn't know" he says

"well now you do, leave her alone" Flynn tells them.

"hi I'm Hannah" the girl with black hair tells me

"Holly" I say

"you new here?" she asks

"yeah uh I'm starting school on Monday" I say

"well if you need anything let me know" she tells me

"thanks" I say

"that's Jessica, Bella, Faye, Liv and Blair" she tells me

"hi" I say

"hey" they all reply back at me

"Rapunzel?" a voice asks from behind me

I whip my head back around to see the Whitey boys standing in front of me

"Yeah, thanks-"

Flynn has just walked away.

What the fuck?

Why call me, then walk away? What is the point?

"what's his problem?" I ask them

"we've been asking that since you know" Ryder says and I nod with a frown

Three years ago, their younger sister Izzy, got killed in a hit and run.

"I better get back to the table" I say

They were about to say something else but I walked away.

Izzy was like a little sister to me, she was only a year younger but even when she moved away we'd talk everyday, we used to write letters since we didn't have any phones but then when we did we'd always facetime each other.

I sit back down at the table

"what was that all about?" Jordan asks lowly

"some guy called Jake tried to hit on me but it's fine, the whitey boys rescued me" I say

"well some of them on that table are my friends so before you go insulting them I'll tell you the ones who you can insult" he tells me causing me to smile

Jordan gives me a twenty minute lecture on who I can and can't be friends with. How fun.

"what's going on between you and Finn then?" Jordan asks

"yeah that's a question we'd all like to know the answer to" my mom says

"nothing" I say picking up my burger before eating it

I watch as they all exchange glances to each other.

"wasn't he your first kiss?" my mom asks

"What?" Jordan says in shock

"can we not talk about this?" I ask

"fine" my mom says

Before Finn and the boys left, he told me he'll miss me, and that he loved me. Then he got in the car and when they were halfway down the road he jumped out of his moms car window, ran to me and kissed me. After he kissed me he sprinted back to the car.

"I still need to go to the toilet, excuse me"
