The following day was dedicated to training for the sports festival, with everyone pushing themselves to the absolute limit.
"Y/n, can you help me out here?" Mina asks, trying to reach kettlebells that were right out of her reach.
"Yeah, I got you," I reply, walking over and grabbing them and handing them to Mina.
"Thank you," she says, walking off to train.
I head back to what I was doing, going through workout routines until the end of the day.
The next few days were more or less the same, but the day before the festival was one of the hardest and yet most exciting days. That day, everyone was pushing themselves to the max, making their bodies go to the limit and then some.
The day eventually came...the UA sports festival was here.
"Well, it's not my hero suit, but at least it was custom made for my quirk," I mutter to myself while taking a seat across from Momo. We are in a waiting room, before Iida bursts through the door.
"EVERYONE GET YOUR GAME FACES, WE'RE ENTERING THE ARENA SOON!" Iida shouts as he bursts on the scene. At this, everyone is sent into a panic, but not before the boy with red and white hair calls out Midoriya.
"Midoriya," he says calmly.
"Oh! Hey, Todoroki," Deku says, revealing his name to be Todoroki, making it the first time I have heard his name.
Todoroki...where do I know that name from?
"From an objective standpoint, I'm clearly stronger than you," Todoroki says, "However, you've got All Might in your corner helping you out, I'm not here to pry about what is going on between you two, but know that I will beat you."
"And I will beat you," I say to myself, but just loud enough to catch Todoroki's attention.
"No matter what you say, I will beat you as well," he says, coming over to my seat and staring me down, to which I stand up and face him.
"Yeah, good luck with that one," I say, starting to get riled up from the tension in the room. Todoroki scoffs and walks to the other side of the room.
"What's with all these declarations of war lately?" Kaminari asks.
"I, personally, have no clue. It might just be the spirit people have for the festival," I reply, sitting back down. Deku calls Todoroki back out and says something about how even though we won't work together we need to work together enough to keep the other courses at bay.
After a little bit longer we are pointed to a long hallway and told to start walking down it. I stand near Momo and Jiro, with Mina more towards the front of the crowd, excited for what's about to go down. Outside and all around us I can hear Present Mic yelling through the PA system and hundreds, if not thousands, of people all screaming just as loud.
As we get to the end of the hallway we can hear Present Mic's introduction for us.
"YOU KNOW THEM FROM WITHSTANDING A VILLAIN ATTACK, THE DAZZLING STUDENTS LIGHTING UP YOUR TVS WITH SONIC GOLD SKILLS!" Present Mic announces as we take our first steps on the field. "THE HERO COURSE STUDENTS OF CLASS ONE A!!" We all make our ways to the center of the field as Present Mic introduces the rest of the classes who are participating in the sports festival.
We all make it to the center of the field and stand around as who I can only assume to be the umpire for the games makes their way up to the stage, Midnight.
"And now for the festival pledge, Katsuki Bakugo," Midnight says.
Bakugo takes his place on stage and proceeds to say something that puts shock on my face instantly.
"I just want to say...I'm going to win," Bakugo declares...sending everyone, both crowd and students, into a raging mob.
"Now to get started," Midnight starts taking her place back on stage as Bakugo steps down.
"The first fateful game of the festival, what could it be?" Midnight says, with a screen behind her spinning like a slot machine and landing on an obstacle course. Midnight gives a quick rundown of what that obstacle course will be like.
After she is finished with her explanation we all start heading over to the starting line
I turn to Momo and Jiro who are still with me, "May the force be with you," I say, smiling from ear to ear.
"And may the odds be ever in your favor," Mina says walking by smiling as well, and we all break out into a fit of laughter.
We take our spots and ready up, waiting for the buzzer to go off.
Three, two, one. I think to myself with deep breaths in between each number, and with that the buzzer goes off. I morph into an eagle to get above everyone and thank god I did because I look down, and the ground is completely iced over with Todoroki way out in front.
"He has an ice quirk?" I mumble to myself. I fly until I'm above where the ice is turning back to ground, I turn back into myself, landing, and running and catching up to Todoroki.
"Hey there," I say to Todoroki, not breaking my gaze with the track ahead of me. He does not respond.
"Okay then, someone is uptight," I jest, taking off in front of Todoroki.
"I WON'T LET YOU GET AWAY YOU FLEABAG!" I hear Bakugo yell from behind me.
"GOOD LUCK WITH THAT!" I yell back and hear Bakugo roar with anger. I laugh and keep running.
While running I hear people yelling at Todoroki, but I lose focus on what's going on around me, and receive a blow from something to my left. I look up to see what hit me - a gigantic robot, like one of the ones from the entrance exam.
"Oh, bring it on," I say, changing into a diamond silverback gorilla and going to town on the robots while still moving forward. I am stopped in my tracks to see an army of the zero point robots from the entrance exam.
"Oh I'm an idiot...I'm an idiot," I repeat to myself, charging the robots and morphing into a small falcon, dodging and weaving the legs of the robots. I do this until I make it to the other side, where I turn back into myself and look back at the giant robots that I had just cleared to see a bunch of ice coming up over the robots with Tododroki running through to the other side.
"Quick, through their legs!" someone says from the other side of the robots.
"Careful now, I froze them off balance, on purpose," Todoroki cautions.
"Oh this is going to be fun," I mutter, taking off to stay in front of Todoroki.
I am flying ahead with Todoroki close behind until we both come to a stop at a giant gorge with stone pillars scattered everywhere.
"Hey, I want you to see me take first," I say to Todoroki while sprouting wings and diving off the cliff.
"Y/N!" I hear Mina yell as I start to fall with her voice trailing off as I make the descent. I turn up and come flying back up and soaring about 15 feet above the ground and gliding to the other side of the gorge, and landing looking back and shouting.
"YES? HOW MAY I BE OF SERVICE TO YOU?"
"DON'T SCARE ME LIKE THAT AGAIN!" she yells before turning her attention to a girl behind her wearing all sorts of equipment...probably from the support class. The support girl shoots something to the other side of the gorge. I turn around to see Todoroki heading off, and I take this as my cue to take off as well.
With Todoroki and I battling for first and second we barely had enough time to stop at an odd area in front of us.
"AND YOU HAVE COME TO THE LAST OBSTACLE, BUT YOU BETTER TREAD CAREFULLY BECAUSE YOU'RE STEPPING ONTO A MINEFIELD!" Present Mic announces over a loudspeaker with just a bit too much enthusiasm.
"A WHAT!? Did he just say minefield? I think he said "minefield!" I exclaim with slight terror.
Todoroki and I forge a silent truce to not try anything while crossing the minefield, but everything went downhill the moment Bakugo showed up.
I turn around to see Bakugo flying towards us. I look to Todoroki, who clearly picks up on what I'm thinking. Bakugo catches up to us and Todoroki dodges him, still running forward. He comes flying in my direction but I stand my ground, kicking him in the stomach when he gets close enough. He is stopped by the blow and vomits before catching himself and trying again. Todoroki, Bakugo, and I are all fighting for first while slowly moving forward.
All of a sudden, an explosion is heard from behind us and I can see Deku flying above with an armor plate attached to a strap of some sort.
"There ya go Deku, now that's using your head!" I say, smiling
"CLASS ONE A'S IZUKU MIDORIYA IS DEAD SET FOR FIRST, SCRATCH THAT THE LEAD IS HIS!!" Mic bellows over the loudspeakers.
"GO IZUKU!" I yell in support.
"Not on my watch," Bakugo announces maliciously.
"Oh no you don't," I say, punching him across the face, to which he responds with one of his own.
"You hit hard, but let's see how hard you can get hit," I say, smiling maniacally, before punching Bakugo left and right and just fast enough to make contact every time.
"ENOUGH!" Bakugo yells before shoving me back and making a break for Deku with Todoroki close behind.
"Wait...I have the ability to fly! Why was I walking through this?" I realize with wonder, growing wings and taking off. I fly to the end of the minefield where I see Deku in a dead sprint. I get rid of my wings mid-fall and land right by Deku and start running beside him.
"Hey Deku," I greet, starting to pant at this point.
"Hey Y/n," Deku responds, panting like crazy.
"Hey man, you got this, in through your nose out through your mouth," I say, starting to take my own advice. Deku and I run in silence trying our best to stay in front of Todoroki and Bakugo.
We start running down a long hallway back to the center of the stadium and I look to Deku who is filled with motivation to beat everyone that I slowdown just enough to stay ahead of Bakugo and Todoroki, but slow enough to where Deku is first.
"IZUKU MIDYORIYA IS OUR CHAMPION!" Mic yells again to announce the winner.
"Dekuuu!" Uraraka starts tiredly. "That was amazing, you got first!" She finishes, starting to stumble.
"Woah there, Uraraka," I say, catching her.
After a while Momo comes stumbling into the stadium, and I head over to her.
"Hey there she is, you doin' good?" I ask playfully.
"I mean, I'm exhausted, but yes, I'm alright." she says. I rub my hand on her head, messing with her hair before heading off.
"Only the first forty-two will advance." Midnight says, "Now the real fun is about to begin, a chance to truly move yourself into the limelight. Give it your best! Let's see what we have in store for you next," the wheel that had determined the obstacle course was now spinning again, and again, and again, until it eventually landed on a cavalry battle. Midnight explains how we do it and who has how many points everyone has, with Deku having ten million, before we head off and we split off to get into teams.
