Lorraine, Judy, Drew and Father Gordon all sat in the hospital, waiting for any news about (Y/n) or Ed from a doctor.
Lorraine, who had messy hair, has been crying for her husband and her friend.
Judy, who tried to comfort her mother, was also worried for her father and her sister-figure.
Drew and Father Gordon patiently waited for the news, but hoped it wasn't anything severe.
Coughing was herd somewhere close to them, but they ignored it. Small steps walked up to them and stoped close to them, but they didn't look up.
"How's Ed?" A raspy voice of (Y/n) asked. All of their heads snapped to the woman next to them. (Y/n) wore bandages on her arms, small blood stains on them, and had dark bags under her eyes. She coughed a raspy cough on her hand and patted herself on the chest to get it all out.
Lorraine and Judy shot out of their seats and pulled the injured woman into a hug. (Y/n) gently patted their backs, calming them down.
"Mrs. Warren." A doctor called. Everyone turned to the doctor and walked up to him.
"He's stabilized. We're gonna transfer him to the coronary unit" The doctor said.
"So, it was a heart attack?" Father Gordon asked.
"Yes, and not a minor one, I'm afraid." The doctor explained.
"Can we see him now?" Judy asked.
"Not yet. We're gonna put a stent into his artery, try to get blood flowing back to his heart." The doctor said.
"So, is he going to be all right?" Lorraine asked in a small whimper.
"We're gonna need to run a few more tests before I'm comfortable answering that. I'm sorry." The doctor said, walking away.
Judy turned to her mother and pulled her into a hug. (Y/n) and Father Gordon patted the girls' shoulders in comfort.
--------------
"It was nice seeing Judy again. Will she be staying long?" Father Gordon asked Lorraine as she held her husband's hand in his hospital room. (Y/n) and Lorraine decided to stay with Ed until he woke up. (Y/n) sat in a chair on the left side of the bed. She slept soundly with her arms crossed.
"I don't know, um, it depends if..." Lorraine said looking at her sleeping husband.
"The nurse says that you two have been sleeping in that chair. Ed would understand if you two went home for a little while." Father Gordon said.
"Did I ever tell you the story of how me and Ed met? Or how we met (Y/n)?" Lorraine asked.
"No, I don't think so. Just that you were young. In high school, wasn't it? But with (Y/n), I don't really know." Father Gordon laughed.
"Yeah, we were 17. I was 38 when I met (Y/n), she was 19." Lorraine laughed.
"When I met Ed, I went out with my girlfriends and... And he was an usher at the movie theater that we went to. Afterwards... We went out for ice cream. He took me out to the park, but then it started to rain. And we stood under the gazebo until it stopped. That was 30 years ago."
"I could go back to the house, Father, but my home is here with them." Lorraine said.
"But what about (Y/n)?"
"When I was 38 and Ed was 39, we walked down the city, going back to our house, and in an alleyway we heard yelling. Not very nice yelling. Ed and I went to look at the problem and saw a group of 3 boys hitting and kicking a young lady, she was very young. She was on the floor sobbing, covered in cuts and bruises.
Ed chased the boys away and helped her up. The girl was crying, picking up a book from the floor and held it to her chest. It was a bible... We took her back to our house and treated her wounds. We found out later that she is finishing her studies at the church. Her family didn't approve of her going to a church.
They left her when she was 18. We showed her our research and the museum... And she was very fascinated by it. We let her stay with us for a few months and during the stay, Ed couldn't help himself but to teach her about what we do. She finished her studies and has been with us ever since."
-----------
It was morning, Judy, Lorraine and (Y/n) slept in Ed's hospital room.
"Loraine. Lorraine." Ed called in a raspy voice. Lorraine was soundly asleep and couldn't hear him, but Judy did.
"Daddy!" Judy called, getting up, pressing a butting above Ed's head to call the staff. Judy's call woke up the two women that slept.
"Ed! Oh thank God!" Lorraine said getting closer to her husband and held his cheeks.
"Lorraine. You have to call the Glatzels. We have to warn them, it's got the kid."
"No. It's fine, it's over. David is safe, the demon is gone."
"Arne! It's got Arne!"
Lorraine, Ed and Judy stayed quiet.
"Damnit!" (Y/n) yelled.
---------
"Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord? Or who shall stand in his holy place? He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart, who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully. He shall receive the blessing from the Lord, and righteousness from the God of his salvation." Arne prayed as his arms were chained to a table in the polite interrogation room.
Few days after Ed was discharged from the hospital, the warrens and (Y/n) got a call from the police saying that Arne was arrested for manslaughter.
"Right. That's enough. Thank you." Ed said, sitting on the opposite side of Arne.
"Well?" A Father-in-practice called.
"These religious objects in front of him would've been enough to prove there is an inhuman spirit, that is a present one." (Y/n) said, who stood next to Ed.
"Does that mean his not possessed?" The Father-in-practice asked.
"Well, he is reading from the bible, but that would have been strong enough to alert the demon." (Y/n) said.
"What does this mean then? I'm just crazy?" Arne asked.
"I mean... You're not possessed, but that doesn't mean you weren't."
"I... Invited this thing into me, and that's why he's dead. So you know what ever happens to me. I've got it coming."
"No, you don't." Arne's girlfriend cried. "Look... I was there. Whatever is going on... Whatever happened that day... That was not Arne..." She said, looking at (Y/n).
"We're gonna help you in every way we can." Lorrained said.
"If the demon is gone, what can you do now?" Arne's girlfriend asked.
"Who's your lawyer?" (Y/n) asked.
---------
"He was found covered in the victim's blood! The murder weapon belongs to him and is covered in his fingerprints!" The lawyer yelled at the investigating trio.
"Look lady, the kid knows he's going to prison! We're just saying there were mitigating circumstances!" (Y/n) yelled back.
"Ma'am, I would watch your tone if I were you!"
"I'll watch my tone when I shove my foot up your a-!"
"(Y/n)." Lorraine said, cutting off the younger woman.
"Ugh... I apologize." (Y/n) grumbled.
"Look, I don't think he should get a death sentence, either. But I'm not going before a grand jury and say he was possessed by demons. It's never been done!"
"Yes, it has!" Ed butted in. "It's been done twice in England. The Michael Taylor case was just a few years ago."
"Let me rephrase that! It's never been done successfully." The lawyer said.
"Then let us help you. Ed, (Y/n) and I have proven the existence of demonic hundreds of times." Lorraine said.
"You've proven it to the church. This is a court of law. The standards of evidence is completely clear."
"The court accepts the existence of God every time a witness swears to tell the truth. I think it's about time they accept the existence of the devil." Ed said making the lawyer sight in frustration.
"How are you going to convince the jury if you can't even convince me?"
"Let's have dinner at our house, show you the evidence we've collected through the years. We'll introduce you to Annabelle. If you're not convinced, we'll butt out. Deal?" Ed asked.
"All right. Show me what you got." The lawyer said.
"Oh, this will be fun." (Y/n) whispered making Ed chuckle.
