In ground zero of a former Eggman bunker...

Alex is off to the side tending to Y/N's wounds while Whisper and Tangle sit in silence with the wisps surrounding them.

Alex looks at his best friend, gets frustrated and punches the wall of the safe making a dent.

Alex: FUCK!

Whisper and Tangle both flinch at Alex's outburst, surprised by his sudden display of anger. Tangle raises an eyebrow, concern flashing in her eyes.

Tangle: Alex, calm down.

Alex: CALM DOWN!? HOW CAN I CALM DOWN WHEN MY BEST FRIEND IS HURT!!!

Tangle: Yeah, we need to stay level-headed and think rationally. We can't let our emotions cloud our judgment. 

 Alex takes a deep breath, trying to compose himself. 

 Alex: You're right, I'm sorry. It's just... seeing Y/N like this, it's hard not to feel overwhelmed. 

Tangle places a comforting hand on Alex's shoulder. 

 Tangle: We all feel that way, Alex. But right now, we need to be strong for Y/N and do everything we can to help them.

Alex returns to Y/N wrapping bandaging on their head.

Tangle watches Alex's careful and gentle movements, appreciating his dedication to taking care of Y/N. She understands the pain he's feeling and knows that they all share a deep sense of responsibility for each other's well-being. 

 Tangle: Alex, you're doing a great job. Y/N is lucky to have you as a friend. 

 Alex looks up at Tangle, his eyes filled with gratitude and exhaustion.

Alex: Other than a dislocated leg and a concussion they'll be alright.

Tangle smiles at Alex's words, relieved to hear that Y/N's injuries aren't too severe. She takes a deep breath, trying to shake off the tension and anxiety that still linger in the air. 

 Tangle: That's good to hear, Alex. We just have to continue to support each other and push forward. We can't let Mimic break us apart.

Tangle walks back to Whisper.

Tangle: You've been carrying some serious heavy baggage on your own. I see that now. 

Alex walks over.

Tangle: Here let us help. What happened? What did Mimic do to you?

Whisper stays silent for a few seconds.

Whisper: There were 5 of us.

She pulls out a picture.

Whisper: Smithy our Crafter, Me the Scout, Slinger our Marksman, Claire Voyance our Psy Op and Mimic the infiltrator.

Tangle and Alex study the picture, taking in the faces of Whisper's former team. The camaraderie and bond between them are evident in the photograph, a stark contrast to the pain in Whisper's eyes.

Alex: You look so happy in this picture.

Whisper: We were the Diamond Cutters.

Tangle: YOU guys look so cool!

Whisper:  Heh thanks.

Tangle hands the Photo back to Whisper.

Whisper: We were an Anti-Eggman Mercenary team. Took the most dangerous Missions. I thought we were all committed to the cause. Here let me show you.

She begins to press buttons in her mask. She then hands Tangle the mask while giving Alex a small cube connected to the mask. 

Whisper: The Video of our masks was networked. Let us review the mission's study each other's perspectives.

Tangle: Oof this is a little rough after the safe. Ok ,Ok ,Ok, No problem.

She puts the mask on, and a video appears on it along with the cube that Alex was holding.

The video shows Whisper and her team infiltrating an Eggman base, taking out guards and destroying machinery. They move with precision and efficiency, their actions a testament to the trust and bond they had forged over the years.Alex watches the video, his eyes widening as he sees the kind of combat skills Whisper and her team possessed. He can't help but feel impressed, but also incredibly sad at the thought of what had been lost.

 Alex: You guys were amazing.

Tangle: Yeah, get em! You all were amazing!

Lightning wisp: We worked well together.

Tangle: I'll say you all-

Tangle Gasps as she heard the wisp talk.

Tangle: Wait you can talk.

The wisp then talks in its native language.

Tangle puts the mask back on.

Tangle: Say again?

Lightning wisp: I said of course we can talk.

Tangle: The mask lets you talk to wisps!

Alex: Wait What! Let me see!

Whisper takes the mask back from Tangle and gives it to Alex. 

 Whisper: Be careful, it's a powerful tool, but it can also be dangerous. 

 Alex puts the mask on and hears the wisps speaking to him in their own language. 

 Alex: Wow. This is incredible. 

 Tangle: This is amazing! I didn't know we could communicate with Wisps like this.

Whisper: Smithy was a genius he designed our Masks, Wispons everything. 

Alex hands her the mask.

Whisper: Masks let us communicate. Coordinate. He wanted us to act as one.

She pulls out her Wispon.

Whisper: This Variable Wispon was a prototype we were all supposed to have one. Everyone working as one. Everyone using all the Wisps.

She looks down sad.

Whisper: Everyone.

Tangle: They all sound like awesome friends. Now you've gotta tell me what happened.

Alex: Looks down at Y/N.

Alex: I mean, I can figure it out, but you need to get it out there. Its eating you up inside.

Whisper: I can't.

Tangle: Then show us do you still have the video on File?

Whisper: I... Yes... But...

Tangle: If you can't confront it right now. I understand. But the more you can share the more we can help you.

Alex looks at her.

Alex: Please

The wisps begin talking to Whisper.

Whisper: You think so?

 Whisper hesitates for a moment, the weight of her past still heavy on her heart. She looks at Tangle and Alex, their eyes filled with concern and compassion. She takes a deep breath, her voice shaking slightly as she begins to speak.

She presses a few buttons in her mask before handing it to Tangle.

Whisper: if, you're sure.

She looks at Alex.

Whisper: Things get pretty .... graphic if you wanna sit out I won't blame you.

Alex nods, understanding Whisper's hesitation. He takes a deep breath, preparing himself for whatever he's about to see.Tangle puts on the mask and watches the video,

Whispers Playback...

It shows the diamond cutters going over a mission briefing.

Mimic: And taking it down will be a total blackout for his forces along the coastline! Eggman's been steam rolling the world with the Hedgehogs M.I.A we can't pass this up!

Claire turns to Whisper.

Claire: Listen, hang back like you always do? 

Whisper: Why? Mimic says were all needed on the ground for this one.

Claire: I'm not sure just got a bad feeling about this.

Whisper: You're the psychic should we scrub the op?  

Claire: No Mimics right we can't pass up this opportunity. We'll just have to be extra careful. And I'll scry really hard. 

Whisper laughs.

Smithy Playback...

Smithy: Its way too quiet, Claire where is the security?

Claire: I'm having trouble sensing anything, Eggman must be projecting Alpha-waves.

Whisper Playback...

Whisper is outside on a cliff edge scouting.

Smithy: Whisper anyone inbound?

Whisper: All quite out here.

Smithy Playback...

Slinger: I don't like this Eggman's ready for us this time.

Mimic: After all we've done to him you would think he would adapt. Who else can take down this place? The resistance? Pfftt.

Mimic shapeshifts into a Badnik.

Smithy: You're both right. Mimic scout ahead for an ambush. Well push ahead.

Mimic: Good call I'll yell if I find anything.

Claire goes ahead before pointing toward a room. 

Claire: The alpha waves are strongest here. Whatever Eggman's hiding its most likely in there. 

Smithy: Lock and load Diamond Cutters. Let's cause some property damage. 

Smithy looks at a charging pod to reveal a shadow android. 

Smithy: What in the world. I've heard of a metal sonic is this?

Suddenly the Shadow Android turns on.

The door behind them shuts as more Shadow androids get out of their pods.

Claire: Were sealed in!

Smithy: Fire at will!

Slinger: Mimic! WHISPER! We need Evac!

Claire: Mimic where are you!

Alex tenses as he hears the Diamond Cutters Screaming as their ripped apart.

Mimics Playback...

Eggman: Well, done Mimic. I wasn't sure that you'd deliver but I'm delighted that you did the right thing.

Mimic: By my estimates you'll have about 99 percent of the planet in a month, and I prefer to play by the winning team. I'm free to go, correct?

Eggman: Of course, you've more than earned your freedom.

Suddenly Mimics blue Wisp goes up to Eggman angrily before escaping through a vent.

Mimic: I guess I'll be moving on without my Wisp.

Eggman: Their more trouble than their worth believe me now let's see here. My shadow androids only say there are 3 targets down, there were 5 of you.

Mimic: Whispers just a scout no threat to-

Eggman: Finish the job or I'll finish you.

Whisper Playback...

Whisper is up in a tree hiding from Mimic, her gear on the ground.

Mimic limps over as Slinger attempting to draw her out.

Mimic: Wh- Whisper? H-Help. We were ambushed I barely got of their alive.

He then stops pretending and picks up her sniper Wispon.

Mimic: She abandoned us? I mean she would have heard everything.

Mimic shifts into his true self.

Mimic: If she ran the minute things went bad, she could be a click from here in any direction. Eggman's gonna fillet me alive. 

Mimics Playback...

Mimic takes of his mask and hold it in front of him.

Mimic: Then again, I have her Wispon and he wouldn't be able to tell my mask from hers. I could turn these in as proof that gets Eggman of my back. And there's nothing to fear from an unarmed coward. Ha it should be criminal to be this smooth.

Mimic whistles while walking away. Whisper holds the orange Wisp calming it down.

The recording ends.

Tangle gasps at what she just watched.

Alex stays silent his entire face going pale.

She hands Whisper her mask.

Whisper: I waited until it was all clear. Rescued the wisps. Went back to base and took Smithys prototype.

Tangle: I...

Tangle begins softly crying before composing herself and sighs.

Tangle: I know we said we asked for it but, why would you hold on to that footage.

Whisper: Never Forget. Never Forgive.

Meanwhile Alex was dead silent as he reviewed everything he saw; his skin was white pale.

Alex finally speaks up, his voice barely a whisper. 

 Alex: I had no idea, Whisper. I'm so sorry. 

 Whisper: It's not your fault, Alex.

Tangle: So that's why you took the new Wispon and small army of little aliens. To keep fighting as the guardian angel of the battlefield.

Whisper: Their name for me. Not my idea.

Tangle: And then you joined us to defeat Neo Metal Sonic. I guess Shadow being their made things awkward.

Whisper: It wasn't his fault. It was hard seeing them... Him.

Tangle: Ok I've got a pretty good timeline of everything now. That only leaves one question. Why leave us? Mimic is dangerous not just cause of what he can do but because he's inside your head.?

Whisper: You guys are the first friends I've allowed to have since then. I can't stand the thought of losing anyone again.

Whisper begins to sniffle tears threatening to spill out.

Tangle: Well too bad, you're my friend too, and friends look after each other No matter what!

Whisper: HE NEARLY DESTROYED US TONIGHT!

Alex: well yeah. Which means he gets double the payback. He says while putting a bandage on a cut.

Tangle: I know how he works firsthand now. He won't trick us again. He doesn't stand a chance next time.

Whisper: You can't be discouraged, can you?

Tangle: Not when my buddy needs some positive energy and avenging her friends.

Whisper spreads her arms out before hugging Tangle.

Whisper: Thank you. she says while crying.

Alex joins in on the hug, his heart aching for Whisper and the pain she's had to carry alone for so long. 

 Alex: We're here for you, Whisper. We won't let Mimic or anyone else hurt you again. 

 The Wisps surround them, their glowing presence providing a sense of comfort and serenity amidst the chaos. 

 Tangle: Allies, as a team, we are unstoppable, no matter what comes our way. Mimic wants to play dirty? Then we'll just have to play dirtier. 

 Whisper: For the Diamond Cutters... 

 Alex: And for Y/N.

They then hear weak coughing.

Y/N begins to stir, their eyes slowly opening. They look around in confusion, trying to piece together what had happened. Tangle, Whisper, and Alex immediately turn their attention to Y/N, relieved to see them awake.

Tangle smiles widely Hugging Y/N.

Tangle: Oh my god My little baby fox you're alright! 

Y/N smiles weakly and returns Tangle's embrace.

Y/N touches their head but recoils in pain. 

Y/N (Sign): Ow...what happened? 

 Tangle: You got knocked out, but you're okay now.

Y/N looks down at their leg seeing it in the direction it's not supposed to be in.

Y/N's eyes go wide.

Alex walks over to Y/N, examining their leg. 

 Alex: I got this.

Alex quickly pops their leg back into position causing Y/N to let out a mute scream.

Y/N smacks Alex out of instinct.

Alex stumbles back, rubbing his cheek in surprise. 

 Y/N (Sign): Sorry. 

 Alex: It's alright. I should've warned you first. 

 Y/N looks around, taking in the destroyed bunker and their surroundings. Their eyes widen in shock as they realize the severity of what had just happened. 

 Y/N (Sign): What...What happened? Tangle takes a deep breath, preparing to explain everything to Y/N. 

Tangle: Mimic tricked us into walking into a trap, but we managed to escape just in time before the whole place exploded. You got knocked out in the process, but you're gonna be okay. 

 Y/N nods, still trying to process everything.

 Y/N (Sign): And Whisper? Whisper takes off her mask, revealing her tear-stained face. 

 Whisper: I'm here, Y/N. And I'm sorry. 

 Y/N looks at Whisper, their eyes filled with empathy and understanding. 

 Y/N (Sign): It's not your fault, Whisper. Whisper smiles softly, relieved to hear Y/N's words of comfort. 

 Whisper: Thank you, Y/N. 

 Tangle: Alright, enough crying. We need to figure out our next move and how to take down Mimic once and for all. 

 Alex: Agreed. We can't let him get away with what he's done. 

 Y/N (Sign): And make him pay for what he's done to you guys. 

 Tangle: Exactly. But we have to be smart about it. We know what we're up against now, and we can't afford to make any more mistakes. 

 Whisper: We need to work as a team. 

 Alex: And we need to stay one step ahead of him.

 Y/N nods in agreement, their determination growing with each passing moment. 

 Y/N (Sign): Let's do this. 

 Tangle grins, encouraged by the group's unity and resolve. 

 Tangle: Alright team let's show Mimic what we're made of! 

Whisper: The trail is cold It'll take while to find him.

Alex: Maybe not. Mimic already "Got you once" Eggman will demand solid proof this time. He'll have to come back.

Tangle: And we'll give him a taste of his own medicine!

Later...

Mimic is seen returning to the destroyed bunker.

He holds out a holographic call of Eggman.

Mimic: I'm here and I can confirm their gone. There's nothing but soot and slag.

Eggman then begins demanding that he finds some kind of proof because he doesn't trust him after last time.

Mimic then sees the broken safe and footsteps coming out of it.

Mimic: Impossible!

Eggman: What is it?! Are they alive?! What kind of assassin are you!

Mimic: These tracks are perfect! No signs of limping, evenly spaced. These are deliberate.

Eggman: So?

Mimic: Shut up for one minute!

Mimic begins following the tracks over a hill.

Mimic then sees a giant words in the ground saying, "We end this where we started."

Mimic: I'm going to need backup because who wants a fair fight?
