RAEVANNA AND ERISSA LANDED ON THE SHORES OF ELYON ACROSS THE LAKE FROM THE LOST TEMPLE, A HUGE SMILE ON THEIR FACES AND THE FEELING OF WEIGHTLESSNESS SURROUNDING THEM. After her success with Blind Faith, Raevanna had been able to master Overpower as well, meaning she had successfully completed the night fae training. Raevanna honestly felt both relieved and proud, knowing that she had, in fact, been able to master all five branches, and she could tell that Erissa felt the same way.
"I'm so proud of you," Erissa said as they walked into the forest. "You've mastered all the branches, just like I thought you would."
"Well, thank you for believing in me," Raevanna said gratefully. "And thank you for taking the time to train me. It must've been a rough five weeks, dealing with me."
Erissa waved her hand dismissively. "Oh, please. It was nothing. And besides, I enjoyed training you. It was fun."
Raevanna scoffed. "Really. I was a whiny bitch for the tail end of it, how was that fun?"
Erissa smiled, laughing softly. "Okay I admit, that part wasn't fun."
Raevanna smiled as well, also laughing as she replied, "Yeah, bitch, that's what I thought."
They both laughed even louder, amused by Raevanna's response. But then, out of nowhere, the hairs on the back of Raevanna's neck stood straight up, and she stopped, looking around in concern. Erissa stopped as well, also looking around; she apparently sensed it, too.
"Something's up," Raevanna said, her hands balling into fists.
"Yeah," Erissa agreed, then walked forward before adding, "Stay here. I'll go check it out."
"Be careful," Raevanna warned as her sister walked off.
Erissa smiled, waving and calling over her shoulder, "I always am!"
Raevanna chuckled, shaking her head as Erissa disappeared into the trees. Her defenses were still up, but they were slightly lowered, knowing that her sister was scoping things out. But then, a feeling of dread bubbled up inside her, and her smile faded as worry began to eat away at her.
"She'll be fine," Raevanna told herself, trying to stay calm. "She's stronger than me, she'll be fine."
But as soon as those words left her mouth, her senses went on red alert, and she dove out of the way just as a dark blur whizzed through the air, slammed into a tree, and fell to the ground. Raevanna spun around, and her dread turned to horror when she saw that the dark blur was her sister.
"Erissa!" Raevanna cried, running up to her sister and kneeling beside her. "Erissa, wake up." Shaking Erissa's shoulder, Raevanna said frantically, "Erissa, c'mon, wake up. C'mon, Erissa, wake up. Wake up."
Erissa simply slumped over, falling out of Raevanna's hands and laying on the ground. Terrified, Raevanna stared at her near-unconscious sister, trying to figure out how to revive her, only to hear heavy footsteps slowly approaching from behind her.
"I thought the night fae were all dead," came a deep, gravelly voice. "But it looks like I've found two more to play with."
Raevanna slowly got to her feet, turning around to see the source of the voice. It was an orc - a big, hideous, battle-scarred orc, his round, beady black eyes narrowed as he smirked at the two faeries. Raevanna knew exactly who he was - he was Gurak's son, Gujek. And she assumed that he was here because of the death of his father.
"You..." Gujek said upon recognizing Raevanna. "You killed my father."
"I didn't kill your father," Raevanna said, her voice calm despite her growing fear. "My friends did. And they did so to protect me."
"Well..." Gujek smiled and chuckled. "Your friends are not with you. And your faery friend is finished. So you are truly alone."
"Rae...," Erissa whispered weakly, reaching out for Raevanna when she realized what was happening. "Don't... Get out of here."
"You wish to face me?" Gujek said to Raevanna as she balled her fists again. Then, he smiled again and added, "Very well, then."
"Back off," Raevanna growled, dark smoke gathering around her hands.
"What was that puny faery?" Gujek taunted, cracking his knuckles.
"I said..." Raevanna narrowed her eyes, her eyes turning blood red and the dark smoke spreading to cover her entire body as she charged towards Gujek. "Back... the fuck... off!"
Then she leapt upwards and slammed her feet into Gujek with such power and force that he went flying through the air, sailing through the trees before landing hard on his back, groaning to himself. Raevanna herself landed in a crouch a few feet away from him, then stood up, staring at her hands as the dark smoke continued to build around them, her skin now a strange pale purple color.
"Whoa," Raevanna said softly, turning her hands over. "What... what is this?"
Gujek's snort brought her back to reality, and she looked up as the massive orc got to his feet, his eyes narrowed. "Shadowstorm," he said softly.
Raevanna's own eyes went wide. She had the Shadowstorm ability? Since when? And how come she had never even realized it until now?
"But it won't help you now," Gujek growled, seeming to snap out of his daze. "Prepare to die, Champion!"
Then, he charged.
Raevanna balled her fists once more, running towards Gujek with her eyes narrowed in determination. Then, just as he swung his fist at her, she dropped to one knee and slid under him before popping back up, spinning around, and spin-kicking him away. He went flying again and slammed into the ground, and Raevanna wasted no time in leaping after him and punching him in the jaw. However, when she went to punch again, he slammed his fist into her chest and punched her away. Raevanna's back slammed into a tree, but before she could even hit the ground Gujek charged towards her and rammed his head into her, sending her flying once again.
Raevanna fell to the ground, slightly winded, and Gujek leapt over to her before bringing his fist down to punch her. But Raevanna caught his fist in her hands just before he hit her, using all her strength to keep him from striking. After a moment of struggle, she brought her feet up against Gujek's knuckles and thrust her legs upwards, kicking him away by his fist; as he reeled backwards, Raevanna pushed off the ground with her hands, flying through the air, flipping around, and then pointing her feet and slamming them into his head, which forced him face-first to the ground.
Jumping a few feet away, Raevanna watched as Gujek got to his feet, one of his tusks now broken clean off. He touched the spot where it had been, then roared and ran towards her. But just as he reached her, Raevanna jumped into the air, spinning around before punching him so hard that he went flying, then landed on his side on the ground. He rolled several feet before coming to a stop by a tree, and didn't get up again.
Raevanna, who had landed in another crouch after her punch, straightened up, then looked at her hands, still seeing the dark smoke curling around them. Slightly worried, she shook her hands, and the dark smoke faded as her skin returned to its normal color. Then, she turned to Erissa and rushed over to her, helping her sister sit up.
"Hey," Raevanna said. "You okay?"
"Yeah," Erissa said with a wince and a groan, shifting slightly before allowing Raevanna to help her stand. "Thanks."
"Of course," Raevanna said, nodding at her.
Once Erissa was on her feet, she turned to Raevanna, shaking her head in disbelief. "This is insane. I had no idea you had the Shadowstorm ability."
Raevanna huffed and chuckled in similar disbelief. "Well, that makes two of us."

"And you're sure you can't stay?" Erissa asked.
It was the following day, and now Raevanna stood on the shores of Elyon with Erissa and Maeve, ready to return to America. She had since told her aunt about her newfound power and introduced her to Erissa, and much to her relief, the two got along well. It made Raevanna happy that her two families were fond of each other, and it gave her some relief knowing that things would be relatively calm while she was away.
"I would love to, but I have to go back," Raevanna said. "I promised Steve I would, and besides, they may need me over there."
"Alright, then," Erissa said, smiling at her before embracing her in a warm hug. "Just be careful, alright. I lost you once, and I don't want to lose you again."
"I promise I'll be careful," Raevanna said. "And don't worry, you're not gonna lose me." Turning to Maeve, she gave her a similar hug, then leaned back and smiled. "Thank you, Maeve. For everything."
Maeve nodded. "Of course. And be safe among the humans, please. They may trust you, but they are unpredictable. They could turn on you at any moment."
"I'll be safe, Maeve," Raevanna assured her. She looked at her aunt and her sister. "I love you both so much. And I'll try to come and visit as soon as I can."
"I'm gonna hold you to that," Erissa said with a wink.
Raevanna laughed softly, hugging them both again. Then, she spread her wings and took off into the sky, opening the Clessibis Current and disappearing inside it.
As Raevanna flew through the tunnel, she couldn't stop the smile that spread across her face. She had come back to Elyon for answers and had gotten so much more. She had learned more about herself, the island, and its people, and felt more confident in herself and her ability to lead. She had truly become a better person, and for that she would always be grateful.
And she couldn't wait to tell Steve all about it.
