Onyx was asked to go find Ikaagen again and alert him of the change. They really didn't want to do that but they had no choice. Ikaagen was also not very pleased to hear that yet another kyuranger was found.
"I guess your assumption was correct." Ikaagen said to them in displeasure. "There are more than just the nine from the legend."
"I think this makes things more exciting." Onyx hummed. "More toys to play with."
"We need to kill them before they ruin more of our stuff here." Ikaagen scolded them. "The citizens are getting too hopeful of these saviors."
"Man... you're no fun..." Onyx sighed. "Alright, alright. Where shall we search for them now? And what about Madakko? You bringing her back yet or what?"
"I shall revive her when we meet the kyurangers."
"I see. Throw 'em off with the surprise." Onyx smirked. "Shall we go take a walk around? Maybe scare a few citizens here and there while we're at it?"
Ikaagen nodded. "Sounds like a wonderful idea."
...
After a long time of walking around, they heard some ruckus nearby and went to check it out. Down below where they stood were some of the kyurangers again. Lucky, Stinger, Spada, Champ, Shou Ronpo, and Kotaro.
"Found you, kyurangers." Ikaagen said.
"Ugh... my legs are killing me..." Onyx whined. "Why couldn't we have found them earlier than this..."
"You complain too much." Ikaagen scoffed at them.
"Well, unlike you, my body can ache." Onyx shot back.
"Why didn't you become like the rest of us?"
"Not interested. I'd rather keep looking this way."
"You're strange, but your capabilities are no lie."
They glanced back down to see Champ use a kyutama and summon some weird chart thing.
"Look. The Tomo kyutama is moving." He said.
Onyx tensed. The Tomo kyutama? They were finally searching for the Argo ship it seemed. This was going to make things even more complicated then. The moment anyone else in Jark Matter put together what they were doing, there would definitely be an increase in attacks against the kyurangers.
"Hmm... they're tracking something." Ikaagen said.
Onyx stepped forward. "Let's keep them busy."
They summoned a hoard of indavers down. The kyurangers jumped back and faced the indavers. The commander ordered them to deal with them first. Everyone transformed and rushed into battle.
Onyx couldn't help but notice that Kotaro seemed to be toying with the indavers as he fought them.
"Hey, Ikaagen. That kid remind you of me? Wanting to toy with the things he's fighting?" Onyx laughed.
"He's perhaps having too much fun... we should go say hi." Ikaagen stated.
"Very well." Onyx nodded.
They jumped down. Stinger had started to scold Kotaro for messing around. Ikaagen took that as a great opportunity to shoot at them. Stinger noticed just in time to grab Kotaro and dodge.
"Yeah, let's have some fun with it." Ikaagen said. Onyx assumed he was referencing whatever the conversation those two had been having was about.
Shou Ronpo noticed him. "Ikaagen!"
"Take this." Ikaagen threw down some part of Madakko and she revived.
"Madakko!" Lucky yelled. "The commander defeated you!"
The commander seemed just as startled over her revival.
"I'm beaming today, Ikaagen-sama." Madakko twirled around to face him, kneeling in front of him.
Onyx rolled their eyes.
"Her personality... seems different." Spada commented.
"Great observation." Onyx said. "Every time she revives her personality changes. Don't know why, but eh, why not? Keeps you guessing."
"Go, Madakko!" Ikaagen ordered.
"As you command." Madakko nodded and then rushed at the kyurangers.
Lucky decided this was the perfect time to charge at Ikaagen and try to defeat him. Onyx stepped back and observed. This would be a tough fight. Would the kid be able to handle it?
It didn't seem likely. Ikaagen was able to see every move of his and dodge no problem. None of them must have figured out his special addition.
Ikaagen shoved his gun in Lucky's face. "Isn't it the same each time you try?"
"Lucky!" The commander noticed and shot at Ikaagen. Ikaagen managed to dodge his bullets.
"How are you able to read our attacks?!" Lucky asked.
"I already told you. I know your fates." Ikaagen replied.
Onyx sighed and rolled their eyes. That was his lie? Weirdo.
"Fate? Who are you to decide that?!" Lucky was not a fan of it either.
Lucky tried to attack him again. It still was to no avail. Ikaagen was able to dodge him every single time. And then he managed to hit Lucky and knock him out of his transformation.
"You truly are unlucky." Ikaagen said.
"Unlucky?" Lucky repeated.
"My turn." Ikaagen started to approach. Onyx prepared to dash out and try to deflect him somehow when the earth below them began to shake heavily.
A giant worm came out of the ground. Onyx gulped. What was a death worm doing here of all places? How had it ever gotten here in the first place?
"What is that?!" Lucky yelled.
"Death worm!" Stinger replied. "How is it on Earth?!"
The death worm started eating the indavers. That was not ideal. It was going to eat them all at this point if they weren't careful. Onyx heard someone warning them of that exact fact.
"No! Madakko!" Ikaagen retreated, Madakko following.
Onyx remained. They were not about to leave.
"The Tomo kyutama is inside it!"
Oh no... that was not good. They needed that kyutama. How did it end up inside a death worm? Just what had happened?
"We should also retreat for now!" The commander called.
Unfortunately, the kid decided he was not going to accept that and tried to attack the death worm. Stinger moved to protect him. The two of them fell into a hole that opened beneath them. That was also bad.
"Stinger! Kotaro!" The commander yelled in worry as they vanished.
The remaining kyurangers gathered around the hole. They were discussing saving them.
"Spada, Champ, let's go save them." Shou said.
"Wait!" Lucky protested. "I'm going to!"
"You can't fight with that wound."
Onyx noticed that Lucky was holding his arm tightly. Ikaagen must've gotten him there.
"This is nothing." Lucky argued.
"Hey, kid!" Onyx walked over and grabbed him, forcing him to face them. "You are injured. You can't keep fighting."
"I..."
"There are some day like this. Your horoscope said you are unlucky today, right?" Spada said.
"No... if I just fight one more time... I can do it!" Lucky stated.
Onyx got into his face. "You are no match for anyone in your state. Get your wound treated first."
"No!" Lucky shoved them away and rushed off.
"Lucky!" Onyx shouted at him. "That kid..."
They took off after him. They were not about to let him get himself killed because he couldn't admit defeat for once. If he ran into Ikaagen and Madakko though... there was only so much they could do at that point.
"Ikaagen!"
Onyx skidded to a halt and kept themself hidden.
"Oh, if it isn't Unlucky-kun." Ikaagen taunted.
"No! I'm the luckiest man in the galaxy!" Lucky yelled in reply.
Onyx heard him transform and begin to attack the two of them. It would be pointless. Until they realized just what Ikaagen was able to do, there would be no way for them to defeat him.
Lucky didn't sound like he was doing too well. Onyx gripped their kyutama tightly. They wouldn't be able to hold them off for long but... if it could give Lucky enough time to escape it would be worth it.
"The Tomo kyutama!"
Onyx looked. It had been thrown as the rest of the group defeated the death worm. Unfortunately as Lucky went to catch it, he was attacked and instead Ikaagen got it. That was bad.
"Give it back!" Lucky rushed again but was taken down.
Onyx transformed.
"I can predict all fates. It doesn't matter how good your luck is. It has no effect on me." Ikaagen was taunting Lucky now.
"That's not so..." Lucky protested. "I am... the luckiest man in the galaxy."
"Let's finish this already."
Onyx rushed out at that statement. They placed themself in front of Lucky. He was looking very rough. There was no way he could run on his own. That meant a change of plans was needed then.
"Oh? That mysterious kyuranger is back." Ikaagen said. "Hmm. You've never transformed in front of us before. I wonder just who is under that suit."
"Let's defeat them and find out, Ikaagen-sama." Madakko said.
Onyx growled. They grabbed Lucky and tugged him to his feet. As Ikaagen and Madakko charged, they used Lucky's blaster and shot them back. In the brief time they were distracted, Onyx fled with him to a safe place.
They collapsed to the ground and undid their transformation. "Goddammit, Lucky. You almost got yourself killed."
"I..." Lucky looked away in shame.
Onyx sighed. "Come on. Summon your voyager thing or whatever and get back to your ship. You need to get your wounds treated."
Silence followed that order.
"Akuma?"
"Yes?"
"Do you think... I'm unlucky?"
Onyx stared at him for a while before finally replying. "No. You're not unlucky. As long as you believe in yourself, things always go your way. That's what it is. The moment you doubt yourself, you don't have the confidence to push through anymore."
"Can Ikaagen really see my fate?"
Onyx scoffed. "No. There's another reason. I'd tell ya but they might get a bit too suspicious if you suddenly know."
"I see..." Lucky grunted in pain as he moved his arm.
A call came through his blaster. "Lucky? Can you hear me?"
"Commander..."
"Are you alright? Where are you?"
"Kid's with me." Onyx answered. "I'll get him back to the ship."
"Be careful."
"We will."
Onyx glanced Lucky over. There was no way he could pilot his voyager, was there? Guess they were doing this a different way.
"This is gonna be weird, but just trust me." Onyx stated as they placed both of their hands on Lucky.
"What are you doing?" Lucky asked.
"You'll see. Close your eyes."
Lucky nodded. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. Onyx closed their eyes and tried to teleport them both to the ship. They should be able to since they had been there before.
They opened their eyes. They were in the bay.
"We're here." Onyx stated. "Can you walk?"
"I think so." Lucky replied.
Onyx helped him to his feet and offered their shoulder. Lucky leaned against them and they made their way to the bridge.
"Lucky!"
Onyx let them take it from there. They were going to just leave now, but the commander asked for them to stay.
"Ikaagen has the Tomo kyutama." He stated.
"Correct. He has no idea what it's for." Onyx replied. "Only Don Armage and myself know the capabilities of those kyutamas."
"So you know about the Argo ship?" Garu questioned.
Onyx nodded. "Yes. I was there when it was first locked away."
"Is this... the secret on Earth that Don Armage was talking about?" Stinger questioned.
Onyx looked over at him. "Perhaps it is."
"He fears it."
"Yes."
"So... do you know where the kyutamas are?" Hammie asked.
Onyx shook their head. "No. I was not told where he would put them. Seeing as one ended up in a death worm, I can only assume things may not have gone as planned."
"So, we have to beat Ikaagen and then find the other two."
"Seems so."
"Thanks for saving Lucky back there." The commander said, placing a hand on their shoulder.
"I told you. I made a promise. I'm not going to let any of you die."
"Is it not risky to be fighting against those two?" Champ asked. "What if they put it together?"
"They're starting to question why I'm never around when that kyuranger is." Onyx stated. "That's why I'm trying to not have to save your asses if possible. Once I'm exposed, I'll have no choice but to join you and it's not the time for that yet."
"When will it ever be that time?" Hammie complained.
"Once you revive the Argo ship, I will join."
"Then we best get looking for the kyutamas." Balance said.
"Best of luck. I need to get back."
"Hold on." The commander said.
Onyx looked over at him. What else did he want from them?
"Here." He held out a small watch. "It's a way to communicate with us."
Onyx stared at it. "Are you sure you should be giving me this?"
"You're part of the team. It would be helpful for us to be able to talk to you."
"Fine... thanks." Onyx took it and put it on, making sure to hide it under their sleeve.
"Be careful out there, Akuma."
Onyx went back to the Earth. They really didn't want to go find Ikaagen and Madakko yet. They'd have to find another good excuse for not being there again. Maybe they could make one?
Onyx contacted Don Armage. "Hey... the kyurangers have started to try and gather the kyutamas for the Argo ship. Ikaagen managed to keep them from getting the Tomo kyutama for now but they'll be after him nonstop until they retrieve it."
"So it's begun? Very well. I'm sending Scorpio to join you. If Ikaagen fails, you two will have to take over."
"Is he aware of the-"
"No!" Don Armage's voice was firm. "He must not know!"
Onyx nodded. "Understood. I await his arrival. It's been a while since I've worked hand-in-hand with my assistant."
