Meanwhile, on the streets, Tom and Timmy walked to the front door of the house.
Tom: I'll see you and the other later, son.
Timmy: Okay.
Tom: If you want a snack from the bakery, you can come down and tell us.
Timmy: Okay. *He goes into the Living room and he sees his mom as Tom heads back to the Bakery for the rest of the shift. * Hi, mom.
Sabine: (holding a cup of green tea) Hey, sweetie. How was school?
Timmy: School was good.
Sabine: That's good. Do you got any homework?
Timmy: No.
Sabine: Okay. I'm gonna go to the bathroom. I'll be right back.
Timmy: Okay. *She gets up from the couch and walk to the bathroom. Timmy decided to get an after school snack, he opened the fridge, and get a pudding cup. * Mm. I love pudding. *He reached for a spoon, opened his pudding cup, and eat some. Before Othiteka and Anarka go to the store, they picked up Aria from school. *
Aria: Hi, daddy. Hi, Ms. Couffaine.
Anarka: Please, call me Anarka. Mrs. Couffaine was my mother.
Aria: Okay.
Othiteka: Let's go do some shopping. *They walk to the nearest supermarket. *
Aria: Are we going to buy Juleka's present?
Othiteka: We will. We'll have to do it after we buy food for tomorrow. Plus, pick up your brother from school too. I'll need his help with the present I have in mind for her.
Aria: Okay.
Anarka: We won't be getting much for tomorrow. And since we'll handle the food tomorrow, we'll order pizza for dinner tonight.
Aria: I love pizza. *Othiteka chuckled and rubbed her head. *
Othiteka: We'll get to that later shopping.
Aria: Okay.
Othiteka: Your brother should be out of school in 1/2 an hour. So, think it'll get us enough time to get done before then?
Anarka: It depends on how much we get. But it won't be long.
Othiteka: Okay.
Back at the Champerret barrack, Bernard looked through the application and resume and thought of a position for Skye on the force.
Bernard: Hmm, we did say we need someone who has experience in firefighting. I'm afraid observation doesn't really count as experience...
Skye: Oh but I have a passion for helping people and want to do what my father did, you see.
Bernard: You realize how dangerous this job is, don't you?
Skye: Yes sir, I completely understand.
Bernard: We won't put you on the force, but there is a position we can give you that doesn't involve anything dangerous.
Skye: Okay? What's that?
Bernard: (pushing the career file forward) Your first position is the paramedic position.
Skye: Paramedic position?
Bernard: Yes. We just think it's something less dangerous for you to do.
Skye: But Chief, I applied to be in the force.
Bernard: I'm sorry, Skye. But for your safety of not being put in a dangerous position.
Skye: (annoyed) Okay, fine. What position do you recommend I would do then?
Bernard: Well, we decided to put you in the paramedic position.
Skye: Paramedic?
Bernard: You know, helping the people who suffered like smoke inhalation, you'll have to help them. I think this is good for you.
Skye: 'Seriously? This isn't what I wanted at all. Why can't he understand that?' Okay, I'l be int he paramedic position.
Bernard: Perfect. I'll have Bethany show you the ropes of that position and what you need to do. Probably do some practice too.
Skye: Okay, if you insist, Chief. *Bernard stand up from his seat and showed Skye the medical area in the station. Back in College Françoise DuPont, in Mr. Scott's music class, Mr. Scott went over the last bit of his lesson on sound.
Mr. Scott: Okay, you all understand the method of sound in music? *Everyone answered yes to Mr. Scott. * Good. For tonight, I want you all to freshen up on your music technique more. If you have an instrument of your own, I want to hear your piece by Monday morning, okay? *Everyone answered okay back. * Good. *Then, the school bell ringed. * That's the bell, enjoy the rest of your day. See you all on Monday. *Everyone gathered their stuff and walked out of the classroom. In the hallways, everyone walked in the halls, getting their stuff for their last, talking to their friends, etc. Mylene met up with Amber by her locker, Amber put her math textbook and notebook in her locker, and she then got her science textbook and folder. *
Mylene: Hey, Amber.
Amber: Hey, Mylene.
Mylene: (Amber closing her locker) I guess you heard about the environment tree planting event at the park Sunday?
Amber: Yeah, I heard about it. And I'm in. I have nothing planned this Sunday.
Mylene: That's good. You're going to Juleka's party tomorrow?
Amber: Yeah. I know what I'm gonna get her.
Mylene: Me too. I'm gonna get her a badge. Like the ones on my scarf.
Amber: Cool. I'm getting her a Ty-dye shirt. I have to ask Luka what her shirt size is. Chances are I might get her the wrong shirt size.
Mylene: Well I know someone who knows about her more. Probably more than all of us together.
Amber: Really? Who?
Mylene: Luka. He's Juleka's older brother.
Amber: Juleka has a brother?
Mylene: Yeah, we all didn't know either. But now we know.
Amber: That sounds like a great idea. Where is he by the way?
Mylene: Luka is over there. *She points at Luka, who is by the water fountain, getting some water. *
Amber: Thanks. I'll be right back. *She walked over to Luka. * Hey, um... excuse me?
Luka: (stop drinking water) Yes?
Amber: You're Luka, right?
Luka: Yeah. What's up?
Amber: Well, I'm thinking if a present for Juleka.
Luka: That sounds nice. What are you gonna get her?
Amber: Well, I'm thinking of getting her a t-shirt. But not just a regular t-shirt, but a ty-dye shirt.
Luka: Ty-dye sounds cool. I'm sure she'll love it.
Amber: Thanks. But the thing is, I need to know what her shirt size is. Do you know?
Luka: Sure. She's a medium.
Amber: (writing out a small sticky note) Okay, size medium in shirts. And she has a lot of purple clothes, correct?
Luka: Yeah it's her favorite color.
Amber: (writing on the sticky note) Good to know. Thanks.
Luka: You're welcome and Juleka would love the ty-dye shirt you're gonna make. She loves handmade gifts.
Amber: Good to know too. And yeah, she will. Thanks again.
Luka: No, problem. *Amber walked back to Mylene and told her what happened. Then, someone tapped on his shoulders, Luka turned around, and sees Kim. * Oh, hey Kim.
Kim: Hey, Luka. I want to tell you about the gift I'm gonna get Juleka.
Luka: What's that?
Kim: A pair of sneakers. I wanted to know what color she loves and her shoe size?
Luka: Her favorite color is purple and she's a small in sneakers.
Kim: Thanks. I'm going shoe shopping after school and I needed to know what she likes.
Luka: Glad I could help. *Kim walked away. * 'Guess people are getting Juleka something special and they come to me because I know everything about her. No biggie. Least Marinette didn't ask me since she is her friend.' *He walked away to his last class of the day. *
Alya: Is it just me or do we see some new people in school.
Marinette: Really? How so?
Alya: Like earlier in science class, there was a girl name Misty Frost.
Marinette: Oh, her. She seems nice.
Alya: Yeah, she does. And look over there. *They see Ruby eating a bag of flaming hot Doritos. * Never seen her before.
Marinette: Luka messaged me earlier saying she was in his music class. Her name is Ruby Flame.
Alya: Hot. What about those two? *They looked at Maximus and Plantain, holding hands. *
Marinette: Never seen them before.
Bridgette: (walking up) Hey, guys. What'cha up to?
Marinette: Alya was telling me how she sees new people in school. Some we never see or heard of.
Alya: And we saw one of them in our science class.
Bridgette: Which one? *Alya points at Misty by her locker. * The girl with the winter gear? When it's not even that cold?
Alya: Yeah.
Bridgette: She looks cool.
Alya: She does.
Bridgette: Love to stay and chat, but I got psychology last class.
Marinette: Okay. *Bridgette walked to Mr. Richardson's classroom. *
Alya: Well, we better get to history.
Marinette: I'm already dreading it. *Alya chuckled as she and Marinette were walking to Mr. Bentley's class. Adrien and Nino were walking down the halls together, Adrien's phone buzzed, he got it out, and see a message from Felix. *
Adrien: Huh, it's Felix.
Nino: You need a moment?
Adrien: It's not a phone call, just a message.
Nino: Hmm. Okay. *Adrien opened his phone and see what Felix said. But, not too long, Chloe and Sabrina walked down the halls and spotted Adrien and Nino. *
Chloe: Oh Adrikins!
Adrien: Oh, hey Chloe.
Chloe: (hugging him) I'm going shopping after school. I found some nice jewelry at the jewelry store that I have to get.
Adrien: (not paying attention) That's nice, Chloe.
Chloe: I would ask you to come, but I guess you have some plans after school.
Adrien: Yeah, I do. I'm buying a present for Juleka.
Chloe: What? What for?
Sabrina: (whispered) Juleka's having a party tomorrow. I told you about it.
Chloe: (scoffed) Of course I would've known that. She would've made an invitation to me and I would politely decline it.
Nino: Why would you even do that? You said it yourself you don't even like birthdays.
Chloe: That was different. I only said that to spare anyone's pity.
Adrien: (rolling his eyes) 'Typical.'
Nino: We better get to class. Bell rings in two minutes.
Adrien: You're right. *They head to Mr. Bentley's history class, Chloe rolled eyes and scoffed as she and Sabrina walked to class too. *
In the bakery, Mulan rang a customer as Marin and Mushsu put together the order for her.
Marin: Okay, so that's two apple fritters and a bag of coquettes, right?
Mushu: Looks like it.
Mulan: That's right. I'll take that.
Marin: Okay. *He hands Mulan the order and she places it on the counter. * Here you go, ma'am.
Female customer: (taking the box and bag) Thank you. And here you go. *She hands Mulan a 20-euro bill. * A tip for good service.
Mulan: Oh, thank you. *She put the money in the tip jar. Then, the next customer walked up to the bakery. * Hello, sir. Welcome to the Boulangerie Patisserie, how can I help you?
Male customer(Hector): Hello, I would like 1 dozen macarons, please?
Mulan: Okay. What flavor would you like?
Hector: (looking at the macaron display) Hmm... I'll have the rainbow macarons.
Marin: Rainbow?
Hector: You know, two red, two orange, two yellow, two green, two blue, and two purple.
Marin: Oh, okay.
Mulan: Okay. Sir. *She puts in the total. * Your total is 6-euros. Would you like to pay with cash or card?
Hector: (holding out his card) I'll pay with a card.
Mulan: Okay. Just swipe it. *Hector swiped his debit card, the transaction went through, Marin and Mushu put together the macarons order, Muhsu closed it up, and handed it to Mulan. * Thank you, guys. Here you go, sir.
Hector: (taking the box) Thanks. My kids are gonna love them when they come home from school.
Mulan: (chuckled) I'm sure they will. *He leaves the bakery with the macarons. In the back kitchen, Tom put in the finishing touches on Juleka's birthday cake for tomorrow. *
Tom: There. The cake is all done and ready to go for Anarka to pick it up. Better store this in the fridge so it'll be ready to go for tomorrow. *He carefully put the cake in the fridge and checked on the cookies and baguettes in the oven, make sure they're done. *
Shang: If you're gonna make the wedding cake for Crystal and Shane, think I can make the macarons along with it?
Tom: That's a good idea, Shang. We'll get to it after I get done with the cake.
Shang: Okay, good idea. *At the Carrefour City, Anarka, Othiteka, and Aria walked inside the store, Anarka takes the shopping cart, and they start looking around and start getting what they need for the party food, they walk to the dairy section of the store. *
Anarka: I'm thinking of a cheese platter.
Othiteka: A cheese platter is good. What else will be on the cheese platter?
Anarka: Hmm... when one of my friends had a cheese platter from her baby shower, it had cheese, of course. dried or fresh fruit, nuts, crackers, and fresh baguettes.
Othiteka: Okay, so we'll a few types of cheese, crackers, and some fresh fruit.
Anarka: Sounds good. Guess we'll get three types of cheese: Camembert, cheddar, Orkney Cheddar, and gouda.
Othiteka: (getting the Gouda and Camembert cheese) They have Orkney Cheddar? I have no idea.
Anarka: (showing him Orkney Cheddar) Here it is. It'sa Scottish cheese. Me parents came over to Paris once and brought some Orkney cheese over, the kids love it.
Othiteka: (looking at Aria) Do you like Orkney Cheddar, Aria?
Aria: No. I never tried it.
Anarka: Oh, you're gonna love it, lassie.
Aria: Okay.
Anarka: Let's get some crackers for the cheese platter. *They head to the cracker and cookie section. * Then, we'll get some stuff we'll cook like Pigs in a patio, sausage pinwheels, chips and dip, party subs, medley veggie platter, and a fruit parfait bowl.
Othiteka: Sounds delicious.
Anarka: It is for Juleka. Being 16 is a mild stepping stone to being a young adult, while Luka is 18 and close to being an adult once he finishes with high school.
Othiteka: Oh, yes he is. 'I miss those years seeing my kids grow up because of my mistake. I promised myself I would make up for the lost time I messed up with.'
Anarka: (looking at the list) We'll have to prep those dishes tomorrow before they come to the party. It'll be for lunch though.
Othiteka: Sounds like a plan. *They continue with their shopping trip. *
At College Francoise DuPont, in Mr. Bentley's class, Mr. Bentley write down the last topic from yesterday.
Mr. Bentley: Okay, people. Before I tell you all what we have planned for the day, let me just introduce you all a new student joining us in our class. *A few murmured and whispered at what's going on. *
Alix: A new student?
Kim: Cool. I wonder who he or she is.
Max: Looks like we're about to find out.
Mr. Bentley: Come in, please? *The door opened and a boy walked inside. * Hello, would you like to introduce yourself?
