Skye: Okay, this looks like the place. *She keeps walking inside of the building and stops at the front desk. *
Fire chief (Bernard) Hello, how can I help you?
Skye: Hello, um... I heard about the Firefighter is looking for some hire help.
Bernard: Yes, we are. I'm Bernard, the head Fire Chief of the Firemen-Rescue Center de Sevigne. May I see your resume and application form? *Skye handed Bernard her resume and the filled out application. He looked at it carefully and nod. * Hmm. So you've already dreamed of being a firefighter?
Skye: Yes, Bernard. My dad was a retired firefighter and growing up, I always watch him work and dream of becoming a firefighter of my own. *He looked carefully on her resume and application and not quite sure if she's ever qualified. * 'I hope I get the spot on the force. I just hope so.' *Back at College Francoise Dupont, in Mrs. Howards' English class, she went over the adjective sentences to the class, so far 4 went up and pointed out the Adjective in each sentence. *
Mrs. Howards: Thank you, Layla.
Layla: You're welcome. *She sits back down in her seat. *
Mrs. Howards: Okay, just one more sentence. 'I met a homeless person in NY.' Who can find the adjective in this sentence? *A few students raised their hands. * Juleka? *Juleka walked up to the board, took a chalk, and underlined the word homeless. * Okay, you say homeless is an adjective? *Juleka nod her head yes. * You are correct. Who can explain why homeless is an adjective? *Leonard raised his hand. * Yes, Leonard?
Leonard: It describes what kind of a person in New York is.
Mrs. Howards: That's correct. Thank you, Juleka.
Juleka: You're welcome. *She walked back to her seat next to Rose. *
Mrs. Howards: Think we covered adjectives so far. But there are different types of adjectives we can discuss, but I'll push that until Monday. *She erased the sentences and wrote down the different adjectives and talked about it. * There's Denominal adjective, that's an adjective formed from a noun, usually with the addition of a suffix--such as hopeless, earthen, cowardly, childish, and Reaganesque. *Everyone wrote down the first adjective term. * The order of adjective is number 2, that's the sequence used when there is more than one adjective to describe a noun. For example, The correct order is: number, opinion, size, shape, condition, age, color, pattern, origin, materials, and purpose. *Nino writes down the Order of Adjective, then looks ahead. * The third one is Comparing adjective. Comparing adjective is an adjective used to compare two people or things. *She writes down the third adjective example. * Fourth is Compound adjectives. It's an adjective that is made up of multiple individual words. *Everyone writes down the Compound Adjective on their notebooks as she writes down the definition to the word. * And finally, the last one is Adjectival phrase. That is a group of words that do the job of an adjective to modify a noun or pronoun. *She writes down the definition to Adjective Phrase and everyone wrote down the definition in their notebooks. *
Drake: (felt his hand) Who can write this much?
Kendall: (writing down her notebook) Get use to it. When you do essays, reports, and other stuff in this class. You'll be writing more like this. *Drake sighed and rolled his eyes. *
Mrs. Howards: You all got the definitions done> *Some answered yes, some answered no. * Okay, I'll give you all 3 minutes, then we'll move on to the next topics. *She waits patiently for the ones who are still writing down the last bit of words before moving onto the next topics. *
Nino: (whispering to Adrien) So, have you thought about the date?
Adrien: (whispering to Nino) Not yet. But soon.
Nino: (whispered back) Cool. Well let me know if you need help with anything.
Adrien: (whispered back) I'll keep that in mind.
Mrs. Howards: Okay, are we all done? *Everyone answered yes. * Okay. *She gets the eraser and erases the board and writes down the word Preposition on the board. * Since we got 30 minutes until the bell rings, I'll discuss Preposition and we'll resume more on Monday, sounds good? *Everyone answered yes to Mrs. Howards. * Perfect. Preposition in part of speech is a word or group of words used before a noun, pronoun, or noun phrase to show direction, time, place, location, spatial relationships, or to introduce an object. Some examples of prepositions are words like "in," "at," "on," "of," and "to." *She writes down the definition and the example to Preposition. I'll show you all an example to Preposition. *Rylan sighed and move his pencil on his paper and looked up at Mrs. Howards. *
