Emma awoke beside Killian and fell into a romantic gaze she set upon him. Seeing as his hook was now a wooden hand aside from a blasted weapon, he looked more like the man she always dreamed of being with. But she noticed how he appeared to not move. His chest was still, his eyes were not fluttering from dreaming, and his throat did not throb with a pulse. With fear, she began to breathe fast as her eyes filled with tears.
"Killian?" She asked as if she would be in trouble for saying it. "Are you awake?" A tear escaped down her cheek as she took every breath and rejected it, making her breathe fast. She repeated his name, show shaking him.
His eyes gently moved and smiled but he jumped up when he saw her crying.
"Is Henry alright love?"
"Yes." She said hugging him tight. "I was so worried...you weren't breathing..."
"I don't think I can as well but my heart still beats."
"I am so glad for that." She said pulling him to her and holding him again.
"How many bloody times do I have to tell you? I'm a survivor. For instance..." He sat up and fixed himself in a sitting up position so his back was against the headboard of the bed. "We spent the entire night side my side and didn't do as much as kiss. That is a first for me."
"Are you angry?"
"Of course not." He said chuckling. "I am glad we talked. I learned quite a lot about you..."
"As did I." She said fetching her jacket from the end of the bed. "I should probably get home and change before someone thinks something..." She said as she went toward the door.
"Can we meet at Granny's for breakfast? I'm starving."
"In half an hour?"
"Sounds perfect."
As she exited the apartment, Henry was coming up the stairs and looked to her with confusion.
"That's where you were?"
"I just got here to get him up. So we could all have breakfast. As a thank you for you. Your heroic heart." She said thinking fast.
"Okay. I just have to go see Merlin first...but then we can...you can come-"
A loud scream was heard outside the apartment. Henry and Emma ran to find Regina in front of broken clay. Henry looked to Emma who then fell to her knees. The sculpture of Killian was broken into pieces. Nothing remained, not even a solid piece.
"It just happened. I went to put a protection spell and it shattered. I'm so sorry Emma..."
Emma ran back up to the apartment to find Killian leaning on the bed. He was breathing quick as he winced and fell onto the bed, sitting up.
"Are you okay?"
"I feel like I have just been harpooned." He said breathing quick. "Not the greatest of feelings." He said trying to make the situation light. "What is it? How did you know?"
As she explained it, he looked at her in amazement. "I still can't believe he did that for me. He could have brought back his dad...."
"He loves you. Even if he doesn't say it. I know he does."
Killian smiled as he stood up. "I'm okay now love, I promise. Just took me by surprise..." He said moving toward the door. Walking outside, Henry ran to him and hugged him. Emma gave him a look of "I told you so" before they ventured toward the cafe.
"What about Merlin?" Emma asked as the bell rang as the door was pushed open.
"I'll see him later. I want to spend breakfast with you guys." He said looking at how Killian looked at Emma as they sat beside each other in the booth. Even though he did not say it out loud, he felt like a true family. Something he missed for quite some time...
