One hour has passed and it's really been one hour wasted.

Devyn, Corey, Elton, Nik and I have been waiting to do something.

Colby, Sam, and Brennen are still upstairs but according to Elton, Nik, and Corey, apparently he's fine. He just needed to wash up.

But I don't understand why Brennen and Sam still had to be up there helping him wash up...

That's pretty... uh... peculiar.

Ellie took a shower a while ago and I've never felt more disappointed about a vacation.

Nonstop drama.

I don't even exactly know the whole truth as to why Colby and Ellie were fighting. Ellie just said Colby was being a real bitch.

I love Ellie, but she's become a real pain in my ass.

She creates the drama... or the drama just likes to follow her.

And it's so goddamn annoying.

My best friend... has the LA lifestyle changed you?

/////

"I'm booored, homie," Nik groans in his seat.

"Dude same," Corey adds.

"I came to have a good time not to fucking wait around," Elton chimes.

"Guys, let's be considerate... they had a pretty bad fight and we all know Colby and Ellie are good people," Devyn pitches.

"They may be annoying, but we still are their friends," I say.

"But like, we came down here for them," Nik says.

"Yeah, and we need to be here for them anyways," I retort.

Corey shrugs, "They're right, they paid for this place and party."

Then Elton agrees with, "Yeah, we can't all not disagree that last night was hella fun actually..."

"Dammit, dudes are too nice," Nik jokes. "But Colby is a homie so guess it's aight."

"Good," I nod, slouching down into my seat and scrolling through twitter.

"How long has it been?" Devyn asks.

Elton checks his phone and throws his head back in agony,"Ugh, almost two hours down the drain."

Everyone groans at the thought of time wasted.

"Fuck it, let's just leave to the beach," Nik says, breaking the ice.

"Yeaaah," Everyone agrees, getting up from their seats and heading to grab their beach items.

"Wait! But what happened to, 'we're here for them because we're their friends and they paid' conversation!" Corey exclaims.

"FUCK IT!" Everyone hollers back and Corey raises his arms in surrender. We all part ways to grab the essentials.

Fucking Colby and Ellie, we done with you.

Bye.

/////

"Ya'll ready!" I call upstairs. I had my backpack with my clothes, I had my bikini on, a pair of shorts, and my blue penny board.

Time to go to the beach, without the drama queens.

"Yeah we readyy yerrr," Nik says, making me laugh.

"Yerrr...?" Elton questions.

"It's our language," Brennen says, coming down the stairs.

Followed by Colby and Sam.

I lightly gaze at Colby and he catches my eyes tracking him. He stares back and gives me a half smile that made me turn a light rose.

"Colby, yerrr we guurd dawg?" Nik says, dapping Colby.

Colby makes his voice slurr and replies, "Yeeer we guurd brother."

"Hey, where are all of you guys going?" Sam asks.

"The beach. Since ya'll took so long we couldn't wait. It's already one in the afternoon and we were all up at like, ten before," Corey responds.

"Well let us get ready and come with," Brennen exclaims.

"Hurry up then," Devyn shrugs.

Elton groans and slams himself with his backpack full of tech onto the couch.

"We've been waiting for two hours and now we have to wait AGAIN?" He muffles, annoyed.

"Chill, it's like five minutes more!" Sam says, quickly running up the stairs, Colby and Brennen trailing behind.

Once the guys were out of sight, we all just collapse back onto the couch or whatever chair we were sitting on.

The only person not going with us is Ellie now.

I felt bad.

My best friend is being left out because she had a fight with her boyfriend.

Her boyfriend who barely likes her.

I felt guilty.

I slowly get up from my spot in the corner of the couch and rise to find Ellie.

I should at least be courteous enough to tell her we were all leaving.

But honestly, I hope she doesn't come with us.

Imagine the problems she'll create because she'll be bitching about Colby. I know her, I know she'll bitch and bitch and everyone will just get annoyed with her bitchiness.

I knock on the door of the bathroom. "Hey El, we're gonna go to the beach, and then maybe the boardwalk at six, wanna come?" I say cautiously but wincing once I asked her if she wanted to come.

"No," She states through the door.

"Okay... but what are you going to do here then?" I ask.

"Sleep," She responds blandly.

"Right... see you later," I murmur, walking away from the door.

"Well, guess that Ellie's not coming," I say to everyone in the living room. Everyone nods solemnly.

A few more minutes pass and the boys come down with their things and backpacks.

"Aye we ready," Brennen pipes up.

"Yeaaah let's go!" Corey woos and so does everyone else.

We all exit the beach house and walk across the street to go down to the beach. The sand wandered between the crevices of our toes and the ocean breeze sang through our ears. The sun's ultraviolet rays lightly kissed our skin and the waves gently rolled as the tides pulled down beneath.

A gorgeous scenery, a wonderful forecast, an even better group of people.

Everyone drops off their things in a little spot and we all set out our towels and blankets on the hot sand.

I tug on the rim of my shorts and pull them down as I have my bikini bottoms on already. The guys already have their shirts off and swim trunks on, so they began to head into the water before Devyn and I.

I throw on my shades and follow the boys slowly as Devyn tans back with Nik who is sitting under an umbrella. I get to the damp area of sand and bury my toes as the contrast of temperature arouses my senses.

"Ashlyn! Get in here, it's hella nice!" Sam calls, splashing his way over to me on the shore.

"Yeaaah, Ash, it's so refreshing!" Elton hollers, pointing his go-pro camera at me.

"Is it warm?" I ask, smiling at them.

"You'll just have to see for yourself!" Sam shouts, and steps back for an odd second.

Elton yells, "Hit her up boys!"

"What?" I spin around and Brennen and Colby pick me up suddenly. Their cold skin touches my sides and stomach and their fingers send chills... their body temperatures answered how cold it is in the ocean, and I soon find it out as they drag me in and shot me up in the air, into the depths of the blue.

I submerge out of the water and the guys start laughing at me, the water isn't hot nor cold, but it is definitely not to my liking.

"You dicks!" I scream, laughing.

"How do you like that Ash? I got it all on video too!" Elton laughs.

I brush the hair out of my face with a bit fake anger to exaggerate for the camera.

"Whose fucking idea was it to pick on the only girl and send her flying into cold ass water?"

The guys point at Colby.

Of course.

Everyone laughs and I sprint to Colby with as much force as I can as the waves pull me back. "I'm gonna get your ass, Brock!"

Colby laughs, "Oh shit!" Then swims the other way. I chase him out the water and he stumbles onto the wet sand. I emerge out and follow right behind him without tripping. He manages to escape and runs down the beach to an area of large boulders. He escapes behind the rocks and I jog towards it.

I search for Colby, now not knowing where he had gone. "Colby?" I call out.

"Cooolby..."I call again, "Colby?-AH!"

"Shhh!" Colby wraps his arms around my waist and pulls me behind the boulder wall. I giggle, curling my arms towards me as he hugs me into his chest. He kisses my forehead.

I smile, "Hey, what are you doing?" I place my palms on his bare chest.

He kisses my cheek, "Kissing you..." Then connects our lips for a long peck.

"Dude, we're not in the car..." I mumble, blushing at the close contact.

He unwraps his arms from my waist and goes to sit on the sand and lean on the rock opposite from me. "Fine,...I just wanted to talk with you, kid."

I roll my eyes and sit down, leaning on the rock. "You just wanted to talk?" I smirk.

"You know I don't just want to talk..." He sighs sadly. "But I'm kinda forced to not touch your lips until I'm in a car with you."

"Kinda broke that just a second ago, boy," I scoff.

"Yeah...I'm not doing well..." He chuckles.

I sarcastically laugh, "No, really?"

"But seriously, Ash. It's not easy."

"What's not easy?"

"Being without you."

I felt a bit of my heart drop a little, "You know it's not time, I don't even think I'm ready... we went over this."

"I know, I know, I just needed to get that out my system... Ellie... she's gone wild. If I'm going to date a girl, I want her to be chill, I want her to be-" He pauses to think about it for a second, "I want her to be like you." He runs his fingers through his hair, "Scratch that, I want her to be you."

"Colby..."

"I'll drop it, okay...how's your day going?" He smiles, changing the subject. I try to be equally as bubbly.

"Good, but I mean, it kinda just started... we were doing nothing back at the house," I reply awkwardly.

"Yeah, my bad," He mumbles.

"Yeah, your bad," I copy.

"Yo! It's Ellie's bad too," He defends.

"True, true," I laugh, "What even happened this morning?"

"Agh, nothing. Just her and her hangover," He says.

"Bullshit. Spill," I interrogate.

"You know me too well, I can't lie to you, can I?" He laughs.

"Nope, so don't get any ideas on trying. Plus, I know Miss Elizabeth. She doesn't act upon just having a hangover."

"Right," He looks down and bites his lip slightly, making me blush. He's too charming for me.

"So when we came back, I went and partied with Corey and Brennen because I knew Ellie was doing something stupid upstairs. And we both know what. But anyways, after about a few hours, I went upstairs at like one thirty in the morning and the guy and her were just sleeping. Me, being the tired person I am wanted to sleep then but was too disgusted since the guy was for one, still naked, and two, they just fucked. So, I wasn't a very happy Colby."

"Poor you," I laugh.

"Yeah feel bad for me. I later tried to wake the motherfucker who just slept with her and he just groaned, still half asleep, in my fucking face. Like what the fuck!" he exasperates, "So I resulted in dragging him out. But once I got half of his body out, I forgot he was still naked, and I did NOT want to see no dick hanging out from a bed I was about to sleep on. So, as the douche bag that I am, got a bowl from the kitchen, filled it with water, and splashed it on him. He shot up, and I was running!" He laughs.

I start laughing hysterically, "Savage, honestly, what a savage."

"Best part, he ran down to the party with his dick out," He chuckles more, "Never seen something so small."

"Oh my god," I wheeze, "What a tragic mess."

"Right? But anyways, apparently I got Ellie too, and she wasn't naked, surprisingly. But she woke up and her drunk self was yelling at me. I calmed her down eventually but I went to bed pretty angrily. Not how I wanted my night to end, at all."

"I can imagine."

"Yeah, but looking back at it, I'm laughing my ass off. Though, not at the fact as I woke up. I was still angry she slept with another guy. I mean, I don't want to be her boyfriend, and if anything, no boyfriend should get cheated on by their girl, despite the fact she was drunk."

"Colby...you're being a hypocrite. You weren't drunk when you've been kissing me," I mumble.

"Ashlyn, that's different," He persuades.

"No, it's really not, you're- We're much worst. She had a drunken mistake- A big drunken mistake," I defend.

He covers his face with his hands, "Ugh, I know, I know. That's what angers me the most I guess. I told her what she did, and she got really upset and I pinned her for a lot of things I guess, and I told her that I'd never want to have sex with her or even kiss and touch her after it."

"Damn, that's harsh," I reply. "You know she must have felt dirty like a slut when you said that."

"That would explain why she sounded so offended... I shouldn't have said that. That's real terrible of me, goddammit. I think I took out all my rage that I had last night and blamed her for all of it," He sighs, sadly.

"You're not terrible for thinking what she did was wrong," I say.

"I mean, I know. But I don't blame her for smashing pancakes in my face or trying to steal the seat. I deserved it, I was being a bigger jackass than she really was. She was drunk, she couldn't really control herself," He shrugs.

I nod. It's nice knowing he can figure out when he's wrong. I wonder if he ever did that when we were rivals.

"I should really apologize."

If he apologizes and she forgives them, they'll still be together.

Which will still hurt me, when I know he can be mine.

But you know I don't want that.

I don't want my best friend to get the broken heart.

I don't want to be with him and then get discarded because of our lives.

I don't want to change other people's opinions about me or him.

I don't want to ruin anything.

Colby's amazing, and he actually wants to be with me, but I am not ready.

At all.

So, I will have to deal with a crush like how I did back in High school. This may now be the real world, but life is this big game and I don't feel like backing out yet because in this game, everyone can win.

And I haven't won yet.

I didn't realize that I had spaced out, Colby had started calling my name.

"Hello? Ashlyn?" He calls, waving in front of my face.

"Huh-" I stammer, "-Yeah okay," I say not realizing what I had said yes to.

"Alright, guess we should get going then," He says, standing up and brushing the sand off himself. I nod and slowly pick myself up to.

I hear from a distant Sam, "Hey guys, you here?" He, Brennen, and Corey round the corner of the rock and face us.

"Ha, forgot you guys ran off," Corey says.

"Forgot you guys existed," Sam scoffs,

"For a while," Elton finishes, laughing.

"Thanks guys, she almost killed me," Colby says, starting to walk back to the group spot but turns and winks in only my direction.

We all walk like a real squad and laugh as Colby lies to what had really happened. I didn't mind, I would've lied too and said I beat the shit out of him.

"Oh c'mon, we know you guys made out, or she really gave it to ya if ya know what I'm sayin," Brennen smirks and chuckles doing the 'smash' gesture. I'm grossed out so I decide to kick his butt. Literally.

"Dude, what the fuck," Colby laughs, and shoving him too, onto the sand. The guys just laugh and push each other a little.

"Besides Brennen, you can't say that," Sam laughs. He then says all teasingly and lovey dovey, "We all know how in looove he and Ellie are."

Corey giggles, "Ooo Colby's in looove."

"Yeah, in looove!" Elton coos with his camera again.

"Shit, forgot he was dating that crazy hot chick," Brennen chuckles.

"I'm not in 'looove'," Colby mimics in quotes.

"And don't forget she's not crazy, Colby!" I add.

"Right, that too!" He says.

"Yeah, but she fine though," Brennen laughs.

Colby rolls his eyes as we near the area where Nik and Devyn are. He jogs to them to get out of the little group conversation.

"DUDES ARE ANNOYING!" Colby shouts back at us, grabbing a towel and cleaning himself.

We all laugh and jog to join them.

/////

After about hours of fun, it turned to be six. We had just finished another hour of swimming and tanning and then two hours of playing volleyball against this other group of people. It was our squad of seven minus Nik who became our cheerleader vs. this other low life group of eight. We beat their asses, like shit, it was hella competitive. The story goes as we were playing volleyball and messing around, so we weren't taking it serious, but this group of pure bitchy, California based crew came up and started talking trash about our skills.

Now, the next part was my fault...

I went up to their main groupie and said that Kansas can kick it without being a little bitch. Then one thing lead to another and I was off challenging our group with their's to a volleyball match. It was like two hours of playing. We played three games and we won two out of the three. But what's more would you ask?

Two or one?

TWO BITCH LEARN TO COUNT.

Don't mess with a Kansas kid.

"That was so much fun!" Devyn happily says.

"Yo, that game was freakin' tiring," Corey gasps.

"You're tired? I was the one who had to spike the ball every time, jumping that shit hurts!" Elton laughs, grabbing his legs in fake pain.

"Hey my 'set' skills were great for you to make those on point spikes," Sam chimes.

"Ya'll are nothing without me! I can get that ball across with one hit," I laugh.

"Hey, I was pretty good, unlike Brennen over here," Colby adds.

Brennen puts his hand on his chest, offended, "I was good! Did you see me bitch?"

"Bitch did you see yourself?" Colby retorts.

"Aye, at least my cheer-leading chants were fire," Nik dabs.

"Oh yeah, please remind us what that last cheer you did for us!" Corey laughs.

Nik nods, "Oh I got you doggie." He pretends to clear his throat and throws his hands in the air, "Don't be a bitch! Spike that shit! Don't be a bitch! Don't be a... gimme a B, gimme an I, gimme a T, C, H, what's that spell? BITCH!" Nik shouts, stupidly.

We all laugh, and headed to the boardwalk and the neon lights were glimmering. They even had a bunch of rides. There was a carnival on the boardwalk and we were all down to go ride everything there. We were having such a good time. Having fun was in our blood.

Until the mood completely flipped.

Ellie appeared before us as we stopped dead in our tracks.
