I stood in the door frame, speechless and sort of lost for words for a couple of seconds. What was the girl I had revived randomly while on my journey to the Deadmans Graveyard doing here in Ordial?
Especially the Adventuring Guild out of all places?

[Arian] "Oh, hello the—

Before she could finish, I shut the doors with a loud bang and almost broke them out of their frame. Wezrall was confused as hell, staring at me with a completely dumbfounded expression.

I simply stood infront of the guest rooms door with my eyes closed, holding the handle of the door tightly.

'Jesus... I knew that my actions would come back and bite me, but why so soon?'

May I presume that girl and her maids are related to some action of yours that may not have been the smartest?

'Wow- what a way to be dead on the bullseye, Mr.IKnowItAll..'

I replied, with a slightly sassy thought to be honest.

[Wio] "Shin, is everything alright?"

I sighed heavily, looking at Wezrall for a moment.

"Yeah, I'm fine."

'I am NOT fine... I really don't want to get involved with the girl I revived because of a stupid decision.... But I have no other choice other than wait for the Guild Master in this guest room.'

I thought.
While technically I could leave to the inn and wait for him to return and THEN come and talk to him, I knew that he probably would be back by the time I even got to the inn, since he was able to use that really OP Teleportation spell, which he used to transport the adventurers to the dungeon during the dungeon raid.

I thought for a little bit, before exhaling heavily, Wezrall staring at me concerned.

"Screw it- I'll head inside."

Be warned Master, those maids are not who they make themselves appear.

Yeah, I noticed.
Even with the few second long glimpse I got at the maids, I was instantly able to tell that they were suppressing their Magical Energy so it's true form would be unable to be perceived by anyone else.

Unluckily for them, my 'Essence Lord' skill allowed me to look at their souls, which told me everything I needed to know about them.

After a quick and deep breath, I opened the door again, entering the room - Wezrall following in after me, still a bit confused.

The girl and the maids stared at me once more. Then, one of the maids scuffed at me.

[Ai] "Some audacity you have to shut the door so violently while our lady was talk—"

"Yeah, yeah - Big deal."

I said in an annoyed tone, jumping onto a sofa in the room, before pressing my back against the sofas back. The maid grew annoyed.

[Ai] "How dare you, you filthy—"

[Arian] "Ai, please. He's just an oddly rude man. Probably a reckless ruffian."

"Reckless ruffian?—"

I sense strong anger to your right.

I froze up a bit, before turning slowly to see Wezrall practically fuming with anger, as he stared at the maid and the girl with furious eyes.
Are you serious?! Is he going to mimic other isekai protagonist subordinates and get pissed off when I get insulted?!

I quick calmed him down, before he killed anyone in the room.
After that, the other maid stepped forward and bow down slightly towards me.

[Lei] "My apologies for the foul language and comments from my lady and fellow maid good sir."

She's... Apologizing? That's.... New.
Usually I'd expect in these situations for there to be an intense atmosphere that would inevitably lead to some.....
Complications - to put it simply.

[Ai] "Lei, don't apologize to this guy—"

[Arian] "Ai, shut it. We insulted him, we should apologize."

The maid seemed to want to protest, however quickly exhaled in defeat before bowing down slightly towards me together with the young girl, before apologizing for their comments towards me.

However, despite the apology, I could clearly see and sense that the maid who had thrown those insults towards me, was not happy at all about apologizing to me.

"Apology accepted.... I suppose."

I replied, sighing.

The young girl then walked over to a sofa that was just across of the one I was sitting in, before sitting down.

[Arian] "So, tell me - Are you here for some kind of business?"

"Give me one good reason to tell you that kind of information."

I know I may appear a bit rude right now, however I'm simply being cautious. Look - I've read enough isekai and other fantasy stories, to know when to not speak and when to speak.

And I'd classify this time as one of those not to speak moments.
I simply do not want to outlay information that may come back and be a stinger in my ass.

Arian seemed a bit taken back by my rather aggressive approach, however her maid that was insulting me earlier was instead practically bursting into flames with anger.
She was as red as an apple at this point, with a completely pissed off mixed with a sour expression.

[Arian] "I have none. I understand that your business is yours."

"That's good, because there are a lot of people that like to pry."

I replied, keeping my rather rude act.
Wezrall seemed a bit bothered by my rude behaviour, however did not comment on anything.

[Arian] "On a different note, is that an Elk?"

[Wio] "Who, me?"

Wezrall asked looking around.
Arian nodded in response. Wezrall was a bit nervous for a bit, however chuckled lightly.

[Wio] "Yeah, I'm an Elk. I understand that it is a bit wild and strange to see one of my kind these days. Especially wandering so far away from my home."

[Lei] "You don't say.... Elks are known to be secretive and never leave their territory. Last Elk that was seen outside their home that I know of was seen around 370 or something years ago.."

'That.......... Is not a long time at all. Compared to something like Arabors imprisoned state, in which he had spent over 2,500 or something years, 370 years seem like nothing..'

[Wio] "I understand that it's a weird sight, but I've simply decided to travel. I don't want to confined in my home land forever."

Arian shrugged.

[Arian] "Fair enough, I'd hate to be confined myself as well."

Arian replied, before going silent.

The whole room quickly became overwhelmed by a rather loud silence, which almost felt pressuring and... Heavy.

After what felt like an eternity, I sighed.

[Arian] "Can I ask one question?"

"Hm?"

I picked up my head, looking at the girl with a curious gaze.

"Go ahead I suppose."

[Arian] "Are you perhaps adventurers? Your outfits certainly portray such feel."

I looked a bit perplexed by this rather silly and very unimportant question. I then looked at my clothing, before taking a quick look at Wezralls clothing.
True, he had a point - our clothes were something adventurers would wear....

Guess that's the main giveaway to who we are.... Or at least, who we're trying to be.
Sure, we're registered as official adventurers, but I just simply didn't feel like an adventurer... Probably because of my nature as a monster.

"Yeah, we're adventurers - what about it?"

She suddenly puffed her cheeks, looking like she was... Jealous.
Then, she sighed.

[Arian] "Well, that's good to know... Then I bet you two go to all sorts of dungeons and partake in raiding all sorts of dungeons?"

"Kinda...? I mean, I just returned from a long trip to the mountains..."

As I replied, the girl seemed to grow a bit annoyed and ever so more jealous.

I can sense a strong feel of envy from her.

Envy? Like the deadly sin—?
Jesus, please don't tell me I revived a deadly sin or something—

That would not be the case, as she does not possess the required amount of magical energy to be a deadly sin.

Thank god...

But then why was she jealous?-
If she was a noble, I should be the one jealous, no? Although.... If she is a noble, then she probably wasn't allowed to have much freedom on choosing what she wanted.

Her jealousy indicated to me that she probably wanted to be an adventurer as a child, but due to the noble or even royal blood inside her, she probably wasn't allowed.
Which was a little strange, since I know of... One noble that is... Or well, was an adventurer.

This small talk chat continued on for a little while, until I eventually began getting a bit bored and worried, as her small talk questions became more and more personal.
Then, the rooms door flew open, as Gidou walked in.

Looking towards us, he smiled.

[Gidou] "Ah, Mr.Shin! You've returned.... With a friend Elk I see. I believe you have a report for me?"

"Yeah, I do."

I got up.
I then excused myself from the current small talk conversation that Arian was trying to have with me, before quickly rushing out of the room, with Wezrall following behind me.

[Gidou] "Apologies Miss Arian, but I'll have to get back to you a bit later. Right now, I have business with Mr.Shin."

[Arian] "Oh that's no problem at all! I don't want to intrude into the Guildmasters business."

Gidou thanked Arian before laughing and then bidding a temporary farewell, closing the door.
After Gidou left, Arians face turned more serious.

[Arian] "Ai, keep an eye on that adventurer. I have a feeling that he might just be bad news."

[Ai] "Of course Lady Arian."

Ai replied, disappearing into the shadows.

[Lei] "Lady Arian, I successfully appraised his soul and the Elks soul as well. They are not who they appear."

[Arian] "I know- Their behaviour gave that away. Plus, for an Elk to suddenly reappear after so long- I knew there was something suspicious going on."

Arian replied, looking away and closing her eyes. The young maiden was obviously not as nice as she first appeared, having slowly caught onto Faofas game of tricks.
Now the question remains - what does she intend to do with this information?

...

I had a long talk with the Guildmaster and Jio. I explained everything that happened in the mountains and everything I uncovered. I did also show them Wezrall in his true form, as well as announcing his decision to serve me.

At first, they were, rightfully, shocked to learn that the Wendigo King had willingly become my subordinate, however their shock quickly disappeared, as they seemed to then let out that sigh of 'What else is to be expected from him'?

After that all, Gidou told me my next task. Yeah, I know, I just returned from one quest, but was immediately being sent on another....
Yeah, not fun.

The new task was actually a bit surprising, as it involved me leaving the Town of Ordial and head to the closest city to Ordial - the City of Merchants, Yiinao.
Apparently some shady stuff had been spotted happening there recently and Gidou wanted me to head over there with Wezrall in order to investigate whatever was happening there.

Yeah, I know - another investigation task, I wasn't excited either.
However with my identity as a monster being on the line - again - I was practically forced into accepting the quest. My and Wezralls departure was set for around 3 Days from now - mainly to give me time to prepare for it as well as give Gidou enough time to send a message over to the Yiinao Adventuring Guilds Guildmaster.

After a long couple hour talk, me and Wezrall left the guild and immediately headed off towards the inn. I was starving and also wanted to rest a bit.
After all, it had been a while since I was in Ordial and I only had 3 days to prepare before leaving.

As we walked, Wezrall caught up to my side, looking at me a bit nervously.

[Wio] "Shin, was that a smart idea to accept? We don't know what is happening in that city.."

I sighed.
That was a good point.... In all honesty, I wanted to decline, but I was basically pure pressured into accepting.

So, I kinda had to accept.

"Dunno... I wanted to decline to be frank, but I knew that Gidou would find some way to blackmail me into accepting it, so I just did.."

Wezrall seemed a bit annoyed about the blackmailing part, but let it slide for now, not going on a fit of rage in the streets.

[Wio] "I see..."

"Why asking?"

[Wio] "Well, I simply was confused about that. Those two didn't seem very strong."

Oh trust me, I thought the same when I first met them... But no way would I be able to take them on.
I didn't comment on this statement from Wezrall and simply chuckled, looking towards the sky.

Man, what am I getting myself weaved into?
Like- geez... I seriously hope I don't get dragged into war or something.

As we continued to walk forward, I began to lose myself in my thoughts a bit, before eventually sighing heavily. Overthinking the decision now, was not worth it.
It wouldn't change a thing.

I smiled, before laughing, causing Wezrall to look at me a bit confused.

[Wio] "Something funny Shin..?"

"Hahah.. oh no, don't worry - I'm just laughing at how ridiculous my small life has been."

I smiled more widely and exhaled.

"Man, to think I was only born around 3 or something months ago..."

After stretching out a bit, I looked towards Wezrall.

"Let's not worry about the journey to Yiinao for now. It's not happening for another three days - so we have a lot of time. What do you say we treat ourselves a bit in the meantime? I bet you haven't tasted human food."

Wezrall stared at me confused, before laughing lightly.

[Wezrall] "Sounds great. And no, I'm not acquainted with human food - so I'd be happy if you showed me it."

"Say no more! We're heading straight to the restaurants in the town!"

I stated, before picking up the pace, causing Wezrall to panic a bit, before catching up to me.

Heh.... I feel strangely energetic and happy... Guess this is what having a friend is like.
Having someone who is with you. I had forgotten this feeling.

I smiled to myself, excited to see what else this world had to offer to me.
