After the battle with the Void Lord, me and Wezrall raided the rest of the hidden lair, finding all other captured villagers before rescuing them. I, of course, used my 'Shadow Manipulation' to summon a couple of Shadow Beasts in order to carry all of the kidnapped villagers back to the village.
Wezrall did also help, only he was forced to use 'Human Mimicry' in order to appear human as to not scare the villagers.
After bringing all of them back, the I told the villagers what had happened and who was behind it. They, rightfully, immediately sent out a request for troops to Ordial, using an eagle and through a Teleportation Circle which I didn't know about, the backup arrived to the village in just 5 Hours, which was much, much faster than the 3 or so days I spent to get here.
After bringing the guards from Ordial to the hidden lair, they raided the whole place, captured and arrested some members of the Hand Sons we didn't know were still alive, and then launched a full blown investigation to uncover what was being done inside the lair.
After all that - and a quick feast the village prepared for me and Wezrall as a thank you gift - me and Wezrall returned to Ordial, using the 'Teleportation' skill I had to teleport to the outskirts of it - just to save some time.
That also concluded, my journey to the mountains - closing that chapter and allowing for a new one, to begin.
On the Outskirts of Ordial..
Noon.
Ordial was just a couple hundred metres away still, as we slowly approached. Gotta say, it had been quite a long time, despite not really being a long time since I was last in Ordial.
Guess with the amount that happened in the mountains, it felt like more time had passed than it actually had.
Aka, I probably lost track of time.
Probably? You did lose track of time Master.
'Oh shush.'
I sighed.
Afterwards, I stopped before turning to face Wezrall.
[Wezrall] "Is something the matter my Lord?"
"Well... First, we'll be entering a mainly human town, so you'll have to appear human."
I started.
To be honest, I was surprised that he wasn't already transformed into his human form using 'Human Mimicry'... I mean, he did it without my invitation when we were in the mountain village.
[Wezrall] "Okay.... What else?"
"Well, second - I'll need you to call me something else other than 'Lord' when in the presence of others. I understand that technically you're my subordinate and all, but I would have one difficult time explaining that to others. So, while we're in town, you are to refer to me as 'Shin' since that is the name I am known under in Ordial. Understood?"
Wezrall nodded, before being surrounded by the black mist, forming into his human form - which by a strange turn of events, looked a lot like a... Well, little kid.
A little boy to be more specific.
Why?
Well, apparently, or at least, according to the Ancient One, whenever a monster uses 'Human Mimicry' they are given a completely random appearance that they can change if they wish.
Only difference is that to alter their human appearance, they must sacrifice a bit of their Magical Energy to allow for the alteration to even happen.
So yeah... Not fun.
"Say... Can you appear a little less... Like a child?"
Wezrall turned to face me and raised an eyebrow.
[Wezrall] "Is this appearence not suitable for entering the town my Lo-... Erm- Shin?"
Hey, at least he followed the rule I set.
"Well.... I don't anyone assuming anything. So, you appearing less like a child would help with that."
Wezrall scratched the back of his head.
[Wezrall] "Alright then."
The black mist engulfed him once more and after spinning around him for a bit, it dissipated, revealing a much older looking masculine body.
It was still shorter than my human appearance, and also younger - if I had to guess, around 18 maybe 17 by appearence alone.
However, AT LEAST he didn't look like a complete child anymore. He actually looked like an adult - only...
Why does he only have a long sleeve jacket and no shirt? Also, is that a six pack on him?! I suppose that would explain Wezralls great physical strength.
The rest of his human appearance was straight and simple - light blue, almost white hair, a pretty muscular build, fingerless gloves, that seemed to be made from leather in appearence, pretty rough trousers that were dark brown and long boots, that looked awful lot like military boots from my old world.
Oh and he also retained his deer antlers - or at least, smaller versions of his antlers as well as retaining his eyes - aka they were completely white.
No pupil inside. Just — white.
[Wezrall] "Is this appearence better?"
"A lot better."
I replied immediately.
His voice luckily also had changed, into more of a human young adult voice, compared to his rather deep, distorted and echoey Wendigo voice.
I've got to say Master - He certainly is a looker for his age.
'Yeah... Let's hope he doesn't grab the attention of young female adventurers or just young females at all...'
I sighed, before turning back around and resuming the march towards Ordial, Wezrall following me immediately afterwards.
"Oh right! Another thing, you should probably use a different name while in Town."
[Wezrall] "Hmm? Why is that?"
"Well.... I imagine that the name 'Wezrall' would be well known, seeing as you are the Wendigo King and all.... So I don't want to take any gambles while in town."
[Wezrall] "I see..."
Wezrall began to think while we continued to walk further on. A couple of moments later, he snapped his right hands fingers, looking at me.
[Wio (Wezrall)] "How about 'Wio'?"
I thought about it for a moment.
The name sounded good - perfect if anything. No one would be able to recognize him or find out his true identity based on this name.
It was honestly a perfect and simple name.
"That works. So, while in town or around other humans, you'll be known as 'Wio'."
Wezrall nodded, agreeing to the idea before looking back towards the gates of Ordial, which got closer with every step we took towards them.
...
At the gates, I had to show the guards my Adventurers plate in order for them to allow me entry into the town. There was some trouble with getting Wezrall through, however luckily with a little help from Ancient One, we were able to come up with a 'white lie' that convinced them to allow Wezrall through, on the condition that he obtains some kind of identification in the town.
So, off to the Guild it was, to not only report the completion of my quest to the Guildmaster, but also to sign Wezrall up as an Adventurer.
Hey, he was going to travel with me from now on - he may as well be an adventurer like me.
Everyone from adults, to the elderly, to the children were staring at Wezrall like he was some kind of god walking through the street.
It was honestly a little uncomfortable for me. I wanted to draw as little attention as possible, however with Wezralls human appearance.... That task was going to be tiny bitt.....
Tricky...
[Wio] "My L- Shin... Where are we going?"
"Hm? We're going to the Ordial Adventuring Guild to get you signed up so you can get an Adventurer plate. It acts as an identification whenever you go to a new town or something to ensure you're not a monster."
[Wio] "I see..."
Wezrall looked around, seeing the people staring. He tried to seemingly be friendly, as he waved at a group of girls while passing by, who all immediately waved back before squealing in happiness.
It was honestly a bit irritating to hear...
Not because I was jealous, but because I just genuinely hated hearing girls squeal. In my old life, my older sister always used to squeal with her friends whenever something good happened when I was younger - it drove me nuts.
We eventually reached the Adventuring Guild, before stopping infront of it.
"Now Wio, I'll need you go behave and stick to my side. Adventurers can a bit.... Crazy."
[Wio] "I understand Shin. I won't leave your side."
He replied with great confidence in his voice. At least it was reassuring....
I took in a deep breath, before exhaling, opening the door to the guild and entering it, Wezrall entering it after me.
Upon entering the guild, we were met by the lively guild atmosphere that I hadn't felt or seen in a long time. It was honestly refreshing.
However, after a small bit, all the adventurers began one by one looking towards us, mainly, once again, Wezrall, as we passed by and walked towards the Guild reception desk.
Strangely, the Lizardman Receptionist I was used to... wasn't't anywhere to be seen at the desk.
'I wonder where he has gone off to...'
I thought, before sighing and approaching a different receptionist - a human female. Upon us approaching her, she picked up her head and looked at us.
[Human Receptionist] "Oh! Mr.Shin! You've returned from your quest in the Mountains?"
"Yeah... Is the Guildmaster present?"
[Human Receptionist] "Unfortunately no, the Guildmaster isn't here right now. He's out investigating the Ruins of Abyss. However, you are more than welcome to wait for him upstairs in the guest room."
"Thanks, but first, I'd like to sign up a friend of mine as an adventurer for my party."
I stated, as Wezrall walked to my side, bowing slightly.
[Human Receptionist] "Oh my- is that an Elk? Those are quite rare nowadays..."
Elk?
I suppose that is the best choice we have to cover up Wezralls true identity as Wendigo-Royalty..
"Yeah, I met him out during my journey and he decided to join me as an adventurer."
[Human Receptionist] "I see... Well, all I'll need your friend to do is fill out the form and perform a strength measure."
Ah shit- I completely forgot about the strength measuring...
I sure hope it won't cause any problems.
"Of course."
After that, Wezrall was handed the form. Luckily, and in my opinion, surprisingly, he knew how to write and seemed to understand the 'human' language. He filled out the form completely by himself, entering his name as 'Wio' and his class as 'Warlord'.
'I guess that gives me a slight hint on what weapon he intends to use in his human form...'
I thought.
After the form was filled completely out, the receptionist took out the strength measuring scroll, explaining to Wezrall what to do.
Before he began the measuring, I communicated to him using the 'telepathy' at our disposal, before using my 'Devourer' skill to control the amount of energy the scroll was able to verify - just like I did when I was doing the strength measuring when I signed up as an adventurer.
Luckily, we managed to get a measurement that hid Wezralls true power, showing him to be around level 46 and stats to be slightly above average for such level.
After that, the receptionist left to the back to prepare his guild plate, while the other adventurers continued staring at us.
After a bit, she returned handing Wezrall his guild plate as well as announcing his rank as 'D'. It certainly would be a strange look - a D-Rank in a party with a C-Rank.
After all that was done, the receptionist pointed us towards the stairs, telling us how to get to the guest room where we would wait for the Guildmaster to return.
After thanking her and giving her a farewell, we left, with the receptionists and the other adventurers still watching us as we walked up the stairs and disappeared from view.
Upstairs, we navigated the halls for a bit, finding the correct guest room before entering.
"Come on Wezrall, let's sit down and relax—"
I stated, looking inside the room before freezing in place. Inside the guest room was already 3 ladies - two dressed in maid outfits while the 3rd had a dress that resembled a noble.
This on its own wasn't the shocking part however - the shocking part was that the noble lady and the maids standing in the room....
Were the same ones I had saved a while back now. The young noble girl turned to face me, with a confused stare.
We locked gazes with one another for a couple of moments, making me wonder, whether or not, she recognized me as well.
