Rayla sat in her bed, eyes drooping tiredly. It was her first night in the castle of Katolis, and everything went surprisingly smoothly. Callum and Rayla has been given a huge room, somewhere in the castle. Callum's bed was right to hers across the other side of the room, to give her space if needed. She sat awake, unsure about how to feel. Callum had insisted she'd take off her assassin outfit before going into bed, because apparently humans slept in baggy, strange clothing. She also wasn't sure what she felt about sleeping in a human bed. In fact, she wasn't sure what she felt about sleeping in a giant human castle infested with humans. She watched Callum, and he was clearly trying to not seem like he was watching her. He was pretending to play with his rune-cube, fiddling with it. Rayla rolled her eyes. "What is it?" He glanced over her way, his eyes slightly warm. "Urmmm... I'm bored, so....?" She scoffed playfully as rested her head back. "So when your bored to stare?" He seemed slightly embarrassed. "Yeah, yeah seems about right." He mumbled. She laughed slightly. "Humans are so weird. First, they live in castles. Unnecessary. Second, they wear weird clothes to bed. Third, they sleep in a..." she studied the bed she was laying in. "This is not even a bed." Callum looked slightly worried. "You.. uhh.. don't like it? I could ask Ez to get you something else..?" He offered nervously. She shook her head. "Calm down. I don't mind." He settled back into position. "Well, I'm going to get some rest." She said at last. Callum nodded. "Me too. Who knows what Ez might make us do tomorrow." He grinned, and laid back, covering himself with the rugs. She watched him, feeling slightly hopeless. Why are humans so weird..? She settled into the sheets awkwardly, feeling extremely stupid. She closed her eyes, and it seemed like a lifetime before she finally fell asleep...
Rayla woke up, unsure of what had woke her, before realising she was sweating, and breathing heavily. What....?? Before she could speak the words out loud, she felt a hand touch her shoulder. She jumped, before realising it was only Callum. "..??" She put one hand on her head. "Ca-" she started, but he interrupted her. "You okay?" He whispered. "I think you had a nightmare...?" Rayla closed her eyes with a small groan. If it was as simple as a nightmare, why was her head aching like someone had struck her with a heavy piece of wood? She felt warm arms wrap around her as Callum hugged her. "Are you okay?" He asked again. "Yeah... I should be fine." Rayla said, her voice slightly faint. She couldn't even remember what her dream was about, but a little bit of it was coming back... she had seen Runaan. His disappointed face. She couldn't remember anything else, but knew whatever had happened must have given her a shock. She began to pull back away from Callum, but he held her tightly. "I'm not letting go till you calm down and tell me what happened." He said stubbornly. Rayla chuckled teasingly. "I'd like to see you try and keep me anywhere." But she stayed leaned against him anyway, feeling more comfortable for once being in Katolis. Rayla leaned her head against Callum's shoulder and started to slowly fall asleep. "Hey, don't fall asleep! I still need to interrogate you." Callum teased, poking her. She ignored him, falling into a deep sleep that felt more peaceful then it had for a long time now.
