As usual, your best friend and secret crush, Gai was heartbroken as the guys discouraged him that he will never get the popular girl, Miyo, as his girlfriend. How'd you meet him? Well, it was your first day of school and obviously, you were lost in the sea of people at the "International Spy Academy" (ISA). You fund him, crying by his locker because was once again rejected. But from another girl. You didn't know who he was at first, but decided to comfort him. Coz hey, why not use this technique to get a new friend who can help you to get around this HUMONGOUS school.

After a few years, you guys became best friends, and whenever he needed something to comfort him whenever he got rejected, you were there. Over time, you developed a crush on him. Cliché but true. You just didn't want to admit it because you thought that it might ruin the friendship that you guys had. And you were scared of leaving him alone, because he had a really gentle, but sensitive, heart, that could be easily broken.

"(Y/N)?" Gai asked. You could tell that he needed advice from the tone of his voice, "Hmm?" "How can I confess to Miyo?" Oh so this was what it's all about. You thought, slightly irritated. Yes, you weren't a cat, you were a (animal) but what's the harm of having a crush?

"First of all, you gotta start of slow. Start by giving her chocolates or secret presents. Then maybe you could develop that into hanging out with her more often until you confess to her." You smile sorrowfully, trying to keep up with your poker face. Fortunately, Gai didn't notice.

In the past few weeks, Gai has been following your advice, doing almost everything that you told him. Almost. But he hung out with you less, because of the advice you gave. Stupid! Stupid! You thought. You are the worst friend ever.

A few months later, Gai then became one of the populars, while you stayed a nobody. It was like he almost forgot you. But whenever he did see you, he would give you a thumbs up. You would sorrowfully smile back. Trying your best to keep him happy.

You always sat alone at lunch, while your only friend was gone with the others. You sighed to yourself. It was never meant to be anyways. Now that Gai was part of the cool kids group, you noticed that his attitude started to change. He stopped smiling at you whenever he saw you and you noticed that he started ... bulliying you. You felt used. He used you for your advice. You also felt betrayed. Why would he do this to you and does he know how it felt to be betrayed?

You looked back at the old photos on your cell phone of you and Gai. You then realised that even in the photos he was looking at something. Miyo, perhaps. You also realised that his problems became yours, and you were solving his, not your own.

You remember those times of you guys being together and having happy memories... turns it it was all a daydream and now you faced the reality. He was never there when you needed him.

You felt like you should be those kids, not him. You basically put him there! Feeling guilty for thinking that, you walked towards your Maths class, knowing that no one could help you with algebra now.

The other day, you were walking around the halls, when you overheard some girl, gossiping about Gai. It won't hurt to listen a little... your brain thought. But what you heard smashed your heart into pieces. Gai's finally with Miyo?  Not to mention the you were already down enough but to hear this, buy did it break you hard. No. It can't be true... I'll look for Gai and ask him myself. 

You searched everywhere in ISA, no sign of Gai. You decided to check the bleachers since you and Gai used to go there a lot.

As you reached the bleachers, you heard kissing. Some passionate one in fact. You decided to take a peek to see who was doing it since you were curious. You turned around the corner only to see your crush kissing. Her.  You gasped quietly. It... was... true.....

You ran with tears threatening to spill out of your eyes. You were alone now. Really alone.

You sobbed into your pillow. Why did you help him? Maybe it was because you fell for him. Hard. But there were other reasons why. But you didn't want to know. But you still couldn't answer one question... why did you love him?
