=====================================

Your sister, Star Butterfly, was finally getting married to Marco Diaz. Her husband. And the man that you secretly admired.

You were desperately in love with him, ever since you first met him. You didn't believe it at first but then you realised that you had fallen head over heels with him at first sight. You fell in love with his charming smile, chocolate eyes and kind face. And you were secretly hoping that he would love you back.

Ever since you heard that they were getting married, your heart shattered. But it was expected. Who would ever love you, (Y/N) Butterfly, the forgotten princess of Mewni.

You were never as beautiful as your sister after all. Yes it's true that you were here twin but you were so much different than her.

You were never as cheerful.

You always wore "duller" clothes.

Your skin had less shine.

Your hair was not so "full of life".

And lastly,

You were not the first in line to the throne. Yes, you were rich nonetheless but money couldn't buy you your first love.

Plus... you were the maid of honour, and your sister wanted you to make a toast.

It shattered you even more.

It took a few fake smiles and attitudes to convince your sister that you were "fine". But who were you to blame? It's not your fault that love could be so difficult.

On the day of the wedding...

(Y/N)'s POV

Everywhere around me was so... joyful. Why couldn't my life be like that? Am I not good enough to exist? They don't call me the "forgotten princess" for nothing.

Who am I kidding. Thinking that he could love a nobody like me? I dream too big. Might as well dream smaller.

I was still trying to wrap my head around everything that has happened.

Marriage.

Love.

Toast.

Nobody.

What has been up with me?

My train of thought was then interrupted by the clinking of a champagne glass.

"Alright, alright!" Tom shouted, trying to get the attention through the sea of noise. "That's what I'm talkin' about! Now everyone, give it up for the maid of honour, (Y/N) Butterfly!!"

I put on a smile. A genuine one because I'm happy that my sister is the luckiest girl in the dimension to get a guy like him.

"A toast to the groom!" I sang, voice ringin' loud and clear through the room.

"To the groom! To the groom! To the groom!" They chorused.

"To the bride!" Hoping to feel better but worse instead.

"To the bride! To the bride! To the bride!

"From you sister!"

"(Y/N)! (Y/N)! (Y/N)!"

"Who is always by your side!"

"By your side! By your side!"

"To Mewni!"

"To Mewni! To the new royalty!"

"And the hope that you provide!"

"You provide! You provide!"

"May you always...." They all sang with me now. Even the happy couple.

"Be satisfied."

Suddenly, my world was spinning and I felt a flashback coming on. I suddenly felt like I was back on that night.

I remember that night, and I just might regret that night for the rest of my life.

I remember those soldiers or guards tripping over themselves to win our praise. I remember that dreamlike candlelight, like a dream that you can't quite place.

But Marco, I'll never forget the first time I saw your face.

I have never been the same.

Intelligent eyes in a hunger-pang frame, and when you said, "Hi," I forgot my dang name, you set my heart aflame, every part aflame.

No, this is not a game.

"You strike me as a woman," you said "who has never been satisfied."

"I'm sure I don't know what you mean." I replied "You forget yourself."

"You're like me. I'm never satisfied."

"Is that right?"

"I have never been satisfied."

"My name is (Y/N) Butterfly."

"Marco Diaz."

"Where's you family from?" I asked, out of curiosity.

"Unimportant. There's a million things I haven't done yet but just you wait, just you wait..."

So this is how it feel like to meet someone whose just as witty as you.

With someone at your level! What the heck is the catch? It's the feeling of freedom, of seeing the light. It's Benjamin Franklin with the key and a kite! You see it right?

The conversation lasted two minutes or three. Everything we said in total agreement, it's a dream. It's a bit of a dance, it's a bit of a stance. He's a bit of a flirt, but I'm a give it a chance.

I asked about his family, did you see his answer? His hands started fidgetin', he looked askance? He's penniless, he's flying by the seat of his pants.

Handsome, boy, does he know it! Peach fuzz, and he can't even grow it! I wanna take him far away from this place.

Then I turn and see my sister's face and see that she is... helpless...

And I know she is... helpless...

And her eyes are just... helpless...

And I realize that there are three fundamental truths at the exact same time...

"Where are you taking me?" You ask, your chocolate brown eyes mesmerising my (e/c) ones.

"I'm about to change your life." I say with a hint of sadness that you don't notice.

"Then by all means, lead the way."

Number 1

I'm a girl in a world I which my only job is to marry the rich. My father has no sons so I'm the only one who has to social climb for one.

So I'm the oldest and the wittiest and the gossip in Mewni is insidious and Marco is penniless. Ha! That doesn't mean that I want him any less.

"Star Butterfly. It's a pleasure to meet you." My sister greets you with love in her eyes.

"Butterfly?"

"My sister," I reply.

Number 2

He's after me cuz I'm a Butterfly sister that elevates his status, and I'd have to be naïve to set that aside.

Maybe that is why I introduced him to Star.

Now she's his bride. Nice going, (Y/N), he was right.

You will never be satisfied.

"Thank you all for your service!" Star smiles. "If it takes fighting a war for us to meet, it will have been worth it." Marco continued.

"I'll leave you to it." I said as I solemnly left the room.

Number 3

I know my sister like I know my own mind, you will never find anyone as trusting or as kind. If I tell her that I loved him, she'd be silently resigned and he'd be mine. She would say, "I'm fine."

But I know that's a lie.

But when I fantasise at night, it's Marco's eyes as I romanticise of what might have been if I hadn't sized him up so quickly.

He will never be satisfied. I will never be satisfied.

I blinked my eyes as I remembered that I was half way doing a toast. I held back my tears as I continued.

"To the groom! To the groom! To the groom!" They chorused.

"To the bride!" Hoping to feel better but worse instead.

"To the bride! To the bride! To the bride!"

"From you sister!"

"(Y/N)! (Y/N)! (Y/N)!"

"Who is always by your side!"

"By your side! By your side!"

"To Mewni!"

"To Mewni! To the new royalty!"

"And the hope that you provide!"

"You provide! You provide!"

"May you always...." They all sang with me now. Even the happy couple.

"Be satisfied! Be satisfied!"

"And I know," I sang less enthusiastically than I did before.

"Be satisfied! Be satisfied!"

"That she'll be happy as his bride."

"Be satisfied! Be satisfied!"

"Be satisfied! Be satisfied!"

"Be satisfied! Be satisfied!"

"And I know,"

"Be satisfied! Be satisfied!"

"Be satisfied! Be satisfied!"

"Be satisfied! Be satisfied!"

"That he will never be satisfied."

And I will never be satisfied....
