In Ms. Mendeleiev's class, she pulled down the chart of the Immune System and explained how it goes.
Ms. Mendeleiev: So, this is what your Immune System looks like. There are some parts of the Immune System. There's the Bone Marrow. The large and small intestines, the Spleen above the Peyer's Patches. Then there's the Spleen. And this little organ is the Appendix.
Nino: Is an Appendix a useless organ?
Ms. Mendeleiev: The appendix may be the most commonly known useless organ. Because many years ago, the appendix may have helped people digest plants that were rich in cellulose. While plant-eating vertebrates still rely on their appendix to help process plants, the organ is not part of the human digestive system.
Nino: Oh.
Ms. Mendeleiev: If you're all wondering if you can live without your appendix, the truth is... Yes. People live healthy lives without it. Once you've had your appendix taken out, you should feel a lot better. If your appendix has ruptured, it may take you longer to recover.
Alya: My uncle's appendix ruptured once, so he had to be operated on.
Marinette: Is he okay now?
Alya: Yeah, he is. Guess it was just a useless organ after all.
Ms. Mendeleiev: Now, since we have 15 minutes until the bell rings. I do have one homework assignment to give you all. *Some moaned about it. * Hey, hey stop moaning. It's really important to study how the human body works, even the systems of the body. Without the systems, we would be nothing and lifeless at this point. Now, to your homework assignment. *She grabbed an eraser erased the board and wrote down the homework assignment. * Your homework assignment is to write a one-page report on an organ in the Immune System. Here are the organs again in case you forget what organ is in the Immune System. Bone Marrow, Thymus, Lymph Nodes, Spleen, tonsils, and Mucous Membrane. *Sabrina raised her hand. * Yes, Sabrina?
Sabrina: We never talked about the Tonsils and the Mucous Membrane.
Ms. Mendeleiev: Oh, we haven't? Okay. I guess we can squeeze in a little bit of information on both things. Tonsils. *She writes down tonsils on the board. * The tonsils are either of two small of tissue in the throat, one on each side of the root of the tongue. And because they're part of the body's immune system. Because of their location at the throat and palate, they can stop germs from entering the body through the mouth or the nose. The tonsils also contain a lot of white blood cells, which are responsible for killing germs. *She writes down the function of the Tonsils. * And another thing, the tonsils also prevent foreign objects from sliding into the lungs. These also filter out bacteria and viruses. Moreover, these also produce white blood cells and antibodies. *She writes that down under tonsils. * Now you all know what the tonsils do, let's get to the Mucous Membrane. *She writes down the Mucous Membrane next to the Tonsils. *
Alya: Ugh. My hand is getting a cramp from writing. *She moves her wrist around and gets back to writing the notes. *
Ms. Mendeleiev: Now, the Mucous Membrane is an epithelial tissue that secretes mucus, and lines many body cavities and tubular organs including the gut and respiratory passages. *She writes down the definition under the Mucous Membrane. * The Mucous Membrane lubricates and protects these organs and cavities from abrasive particles and bodily fluids, as well as invasive pathogens. That's the function of the Mucous Membrane. *She writes down the function of the Mucous Membrane. * And one more thing: there is a way you can help your Mucous Membrane moisturize by drinking plenty of water. You can also use a humidifier, preferably a cool mist humidifier.
Nino: That's reasonable. *He writes that down and Ms. Mendeleiev stands by the homework assignment side. *
Ms. Mendeleiev: Now to your homework assignment. You are to pick an organ from the Immune System and respond to these questions in your essay. Four questions: 1. What organ you choose and why? 2. The function of that organ. 3. What affects that organ? And 4. Can the Immune System be treatable? *She writes down the four questions. * And have it all ready to go by tomorrow, okay? *They all answered yes to Ms. Mendeleiev and wrote down the homework assignment questions, and then the bell rang. * I graded your last night's homework assignment. Come get it on your way out. *One by one they grab their papers and leave the classroom, and Mendeleiev erased the whole board and set up for her next class. *
Nino: I thought that lecture would never end. Everything we needed to learn about the Immune System.
Adrien: It's educational and who knows, maybe you'll learn something from it.
Nino: Maybe. Guess I have math next. How do you think you did on the test?
Adrien: Think I did good. You?
Nino: I don't know. Probably on the brink of failing it.
Adrien: Aw, don't say that. I'm sure you did good.
Nino: Let's hope so. *They head to Mr. Tenny's class next. In the bakery, Carlos got 2 more orders to deliver while everyone else kept working. *
Carlos: Okay. Just have to get 2 dozen fudge to Mr. Robinson's retirement party at the iTV station and this Eiffel Tower cake to the Place Des Vosges park for a birthday party.
Sabine: Jalissa help load up the truck for Carlos.
Jalissa: Okay. *She grabbed the Eiffel Tower cake and she and Carlos headed outside the bakery and to the truck. * Think you got this?
Carlos: Yeah. *He opened the trunk door, carefully placed the fridge in the truck, and closed it gently. * Put the cake up front. I'll make sure nothing bad happens to it.
Jalissa: Okay. *She carefully put the Eiffel Tower cake in the front seat and hopefully, it won't fall over while he drives. *
Carlos: Okay. Think we're good here. I'll be on my way.
Jalissa: Okay. *She heads back inside, Carlos steps inside the truck, starts the engine, and starts driving to the iTV Station first. *
Sabine: Thank you for your business. And here's your 2 dozen cannolis. *She handed a customer 2 boxes of 2 dozen cannolis. *
Male customer: Thank you. *He takes 2 boxes and leaves the bakery. *
Sabine: Hmm, we still got more people.
Jalissa: Yeah 6 or 7.
Alfonso: Jalissa, fresh cookies coming out.
Jalissa: Better get to restock. *She takes the cookies and restocks them: chocolate chip, peanut butter, sugar, and ginger snaps. *
Sabine: Hello, welcome to the Boulangerie Patisserie, how can I help you?
Female customer: 2 cupcakes, please?
Sabine: Okay. What flavors would you like?
Female customer: Vanilla and strawberry. *Sabine put in the total for two cupcakes. *
Sabine: That'll be 2 euros, please? *She reached into her purse, got out her wallet, got 2 euros out, and handed it to Sabine. * Thank you. *She opened the register and put the 2 euros inside. *
Willa: I'll get the cupcakes.
Sabine: Thank you, Willa. *She takes a box, assembles it, gets the vanilla cupcake and puts it inside, and grabs the strawberry cupcake and puts it inside too. She then closed it up and placed it on the counter. * Okay, so 3 dozen macarons: French vanilla, strawberry, and mint?
Male customer: Yes, ma'am. It's for a company's party I'm having.
Sabine: Mm. Sounds like fun. That'll be 18 euros, please?
Male customer: You accept debit cards?
Sabine: Yes, we do.
Male customer: Of course. *She spotted the box with the two cupcakes. *
Sabine: Thank you, Willa. Your cupcakes, ma'am.
Female customer: Thank you. *She takes the box and puts a 5 euro bill in the tip jar. * Wonderful service.
Sabine: Thank you. Willa, get the three dozen macarons ready.
Willa: Okay. What flavors?
Sabine: French vanilla, strawberry, and mint.
Willa: Okay. *She gets 3 boxes and starts gathering the three macaron flavors. Then Estelle came out of the kitchen holding a tray of fresh muffins. *
Estelle: Fresh blueberry muffins.
Jalissa: I got it. *She takes the tray and restocks the blueberry muffins. *
Sabine: Thank you, girls. That'll be 2 euros. *The money was brought to her. * Thank you. *Then, Willa brought up one box of French vanilla macarons, one box of strawberry macarons, and one box of chocolate macarons. *
Willa: Here are the macarons.
Sabine: Thank you, Willa. Here are your macarons, sir.
Male customer: Thank you. *He takes the boxes and leaves the bakery. Then, Sabine sees a small box pushed to the counter. *
Sabine: Okay, who ordered a slice of cherry pie? *Business was going well when Carlos came back from the delivery route, and he helped out too. *
At College Francoise DuPont, it's time for the third class, in Mr. Tenny's class, Mr. Tenny teaches the class about a new math topic.
Mr. Tenny: And so, when you see values that equal a number, you plug in the number to that value and solve it one step at a time and you'll get your number. *He solved the equation and got the answer. * That's how you do it, any questions? *A few raised their hands. *
Elise: Will be tested on this too?
Mr. Tenny: Yes. You'll be tested on this next week. But don't fret. We have plenty of time to learn all of this and you'll be ready for the test next week.
Elizabeth: That's good to know. *Arwen looked over at Elizabeth. *
Mr. Tenny: Yes, Esra?
Esra: I was asking can I go to the bathroom.
Mr. Tenny: Okay. Take a hall pass on your way out.
Esra: Okay. *He gets up, grabs a hall pass, and heads to the bathroom. *
Mr. Tenny: Would you all like to do one by yourself? *Some answered yes to Mr. Tenny, and he wrote down one problem. * Let's see if you all can solve this one. x/9+4y-3z, where x=18, y=5, and z=10. See if you all can do this one by yourself and later on, we can go over it. *They write down the problem and solve it on their own. Then, Esra came back to class and returned the hall pass to Mr. Tenny. * Thank you, Esra.
Esra: You're welcome. *He sits back down and solves the problem. Then, after a few minutes, Mr. Tenny walked up to the board, holding a marker. *
Mr. Tenny: Okay, so who here thinks they have an answer to this equation? *Nicole raised her hand. * Alright Nicole, go ahead. *Nicole got up from her seat, walked up to the board, and solved the problem. Once she was done, she stepped aside and circled the answer. * Okay. Tell us how you did it.
Nicole: I plugged in the numbers to the values. I first start with the value of x, 18/9, which equals 2. Then, I move on to the Y value, which gives me 4(5), which equals 20. I add the 2 and the 20, which gives me 22, then all that's left is Z, which then gives me 30, and I subtract 22 and 30, which gives me -8.
Mr. Tenny: That looks correct. Thank you, Nicole.
Nicole: You're welcome. *She goes back to her seat. *
Mr. Tenny: So, you all got your answer? *They all answered yes to Mr. Tenny. * Good. Let's do one more, then after this, I have an assignment for you all to do. Might take the whole class period to get it done. So, you know the rules, you finish today, turn it into me. If you don't finish it, you get homework tonight. You can work together or by yourself on this assignment. *He handed out everyone their assignment and they got started on it. In the Agreste Mansion, Gabriel went through the grimoire pages and see if they're any other miraculous that he had seen in a few battles he never heard of. *
Gabriel: (Bang his fist on the nightstand): Ugh. Why can't I find it? There must be a way that Ladybug keeps getting new miraculous. There has to be something else behind it.
Nathalie: Well, the grimoire isn't complete. Even I looked through it and I don't see what other miraculous are like.
Gabriel: Ugh. I got nothing. Someone must know Ladybug and somehow got connections to her and gave her new miraculous. *He thinks of something, and his eyes widen. * Luka Couffaine.
Nathalie: What are you saying?
Gabriel: I still think he has some sort of connection with Ladybug. He must know something. I have to get him to talk.
Nathalie: How will you do that?
Gabriel: By triggering his anger. By seeing someone he loves so much suffer or something else he cares so much.
Nathalie: It won't work. Remember when he was Silencer? His music being stolen wasn't the reason for him to be akumatized.
Gabriel: I did say he couldn't see the one he loves suffer. That would be his trigger. I would wait for the exact moment to strike.
