chapter six
shiny.

"It's a little dense, don't you think, to antagonize the strongest vampire in the house," Edward commented. He held his arms out for Renesmee— and although confused, Bella handed over her daughter.

"What do you mean?" Emmett grumbled, looking over the couch at him.

"Bella," Edward murmured. "Do you remember a few months ago, I asked you to do me a favor once you were immortal?"

Christina chuckled as Bella scrunched her eyebrows in thought before exclaiming, "oh!"

Alice started pealing in laughter, making the rest of the Cullens confused. Even Jacob looked away from the fridge with curiosity.

"What?" Emmett growled out.

"Really?" Bella whispered towards her husband.

He nodded his head. "Trust me."

"Alright, Emmett," Bella started as she looked back towards the burly vampire. "I'll take you up on that bet."

"Now we're talking." Emmett smirked. Bella bit her lip, making him chuckle. "Unless you're too scared."

"Don't worry, Bella," Christina spoke up. "He's just a big teddy bear. I've taken him down a least a handful of times."

Emmett growled as Carlisle and Christina laughed together. "I let you!"

"Sure."

Bella squared her shoulders. "You. Me. Arm-wrestling. Dining room table. Now."

"Uh, Bella, I'm quite fond of that table, so if you don't mind..." Christina left open, smiling sheepishly towards the newborn.

"No problem," Emmett grinned. "Right this way, Bella."

Christina excitedly jumped up from the couch as she followed everyone outside; Carlisle just one step behind her. They all stopped at the tree line as Emmett set up a table with boulders surrounding the forest. Christina smirked as she leaned against Carlisle's side. It was humorous to see short and skinny Bella trying to face off with Emmett, who was the actual size of a grizzly bear.

Emmett placed his elbow on the rock and waved Bella over teasingly.

Bella nervously walked towards Emmett, also noticing the vast size difference.

"You got this, Bella," Christina cheered.

Bella places her elbow on the rock. "Alright, Emmett. I win, and you cannot say one more word about my sex life to anyone, including Rosalie. No allusions, no innuendos, nothing."

Emmett smirked. "Deal. I win, and it's going to get a whole lot worse." Emmett smirked at Bella's baited breath. "You're gonna back down so easily, little sister? Not much wild about you, is there? I bet that cottage doesn't have a scratch on it. Did Edward ever tell you how many houses Rose and I destroyed?"

Bella's eyes narrowed as she gripped Emmett's large hand. "One, two—"

"Three," he stated before pushing on Bella's hand.

Christina chuckled into Carlisle's shoulder as Emmett's hand didn't budge Bella's. His smirk from before dropped instantly as he continued to try and push against Bella's hand. He furrowed his brows as he pushed harder against Bella's force, but still nothing happened.

A twitch of a smile came to Bella's face as she twitched her wrist, sending Emmett's hand back. He started to growl as she pushed against his strength, before sending their conjoined fists through the rock. Dust flew up around the two as Emmett's snarl ripped through the trees.

"Just keep your mouth shut," Bella reminded, a smirk now on her face looking towards Emmett.

Emmett kicked the rock fragment that fell. The power behind his kick, cracked it in half and sent it across the river. Christina chuckled at his temper tantrum.

"Rematch. Tomorrow," Emmett snarled, upset at his loss.

"It's not going to wear off that fast," Bella laughed. "Maybe you ought to give it a month."

Emmett flashed his teeth, pulling his lip over white. "Tomorrow."

"Hey, whatever makes you happy, big brother," Bella teased.

Christina chuckled louder, making Emmett turn his glare to her. It was a moment longer before a smirk came to his face. "At least I still have Christina to tease."

Her laughter cut short as his words registered in her head. "You wouldn't dare."

"What were you two doing last night—"

He was cut off as Christina tackled him into a tree. Carlisle sighed as he watched two trees fall as they both wrestled each other to the ground. Christina had the upper hand as she threw Emmett across the field.

Bella laughed at the childish nature settled around her. She sent her fist through the boulder, finding enjoyment in using her actual strength for once— instead of trying to minimize it. Her laughter was cut short as Christina got thrown into her, sending the both of them into the tree line.

Christina was quick as she got back to her feet, glaring towards a laughing Emmett. She snarled under her breath as Bella stood next to her with a matching glare.

Two bell-like laughs filled the field, making everyone freeze as they turned to the babies. They both were laughing at the antics around them.

"Did they just... laugh?" Christina questioned as she looked at her son.

"Yes," both fathers answered.

"Who wasn't laughing?" Jacob questioned, with a roll of his eyes.

"Tell me you didn't let go a bit on your first run, dog," Edward teased, looking towards Jacob.

"That's different," Jacob said, throwing a light punch into Edward's shoulder jokingly. "Bella and Christina are supposed to be grown-ups. Married and moms, and all that. Shouldn't there be more dignity?"

Both kids frown at Jacob's words, and Edward laughed as Renesmee put her hand on his neck.

"What does she want?" Bella asked as the girls walked closer to the group.

"Less dignity," Edward laughed. "They both were having fun watching you both have fun."

"Tell that to my shoulder," Christina joked as she poked Greyson's stomach, making him giggle again. Both her and Carlisle's smile brightened at hearing the tune once again.

She knew that she wouldn't get tired of listening to that sound— just like she would never get tired of listening to Annie laughing. It was the greatest sound, hearing happiness fall from her kids lips.

Carlisle kissed Christina's forehead— a thankful gesture as their family joked around them.

They still had much to worry about. The increased growth of both children a big problem on their plate. It was hard to track, especially because both kids have been growing at different rates— it made it harder for Carlisle to get an accurate answer on what they can do for their children.

The fact that Charlie was going to be coming over more often was also a small concern. Bella was able to keep her control today, but she had recently hunted. What happens if he comes by and she's not prepared for it? It was all concerns that ran through both Bella and Christina's head.

But they didn't think of them in that small moment of happiness. They didn't need to; everyone was blissfully happy as they watched Bella enjoy the feel of sun on her skin— the diamonds dancing with the warm rays. Christina's smile rose as well, knowing that everything they had gone through in their life had led up to this exact moment of bliss.

She just hope it would last.
