chapter four
Isle Nina.

"Rio?" Christina asked as she looked around the festival.

People were dancing to the live music playing. The taxi that they were taking was stuck in traffic along with the rest of the cars surrounding them. People were parking their cars on the side of the road before crossing the street to join the festival.

Christina continued to stare in amazement. Carlisle grinned at the bewilderment in his bride's eyes, before muttering in Portuguese to the taxi driver, "gostaríamos de curtir o festival, deixar o medidor funcionando."

Christina looked over to him in wonder, not understanding a word he muttered to the taxi driver. He just winked as the taxi pulled over on to the side of the road. He opened his side of the door, and Christina watched him walk around the taxi in confusion. He reached down for her hand as he opened her side of the door. She gripped onto his hand as he pulled her out of the car.

"This is just a stop," Carlisle answered her question finally. He lead them through the crowd of people shopping under tents and into the middle where the live band was playing.

The live band was louder in the middle, the beats making Christina's hollow chest feel like it has it's own heart beat again. A wide grin appeared on her face as she looked around at all the string lights hanging above them.

Carlisle grabbed onto her hands before spinning her around, making her giggle. They both swayed to the beat as the night settled over them. The string lights above them mixing with the stars that shined just as bright.

"So, we're taking a boat," Christina said as they walked hand and hand on the deck. They each had a few bags in their opposite hand; the taxi driver following them with the last couple bags.

"Yes." A deep chuckle resided within Carlisle's chest. He grabbed onto the bags from Christina's hand as he placed them on the back end of the boat— before doing the same thing to the taxi driver. "Obrigado," he spoke as he handed the guy some extra cash.

"Feliz casamento." He bowed his head at the couple before walking back down the dock.

"Remind me to learn how to speak Portuguese while we're here," Christina muttered making Carlisle chuckle.

He climbed into the boat before holding his hands up to help Christina in. She smiled in amusement, both of them knowing she was perfectly capable getting into the boat; but she amused him and allowed him to help her.

"We'll be there shortly," he promised as they both settled on the boat. He gave her a gentle smile before starting the boat up.

The young mother was taken back by the sight of the water around them. Her eyes could see for miles around them, and under them. She leaned over the side of the boat and watched the fish dance in the middle of the night. They swam away as the boat passed over them, fearing for their lives.

"Look," Carlisle whispered, making Christina's eyes turn up.

Her mouth fell open as she looked at the island that they were moving towards. She leaned forwards with excitement as her eyes gazed over the forests surrounding the beach. Her eyes continued up the beach to see the large house sitting on top of the hill. It was an open concept, with mostly windows in place of the walls; much like their home back in Forks.

"Welcome to Isle Nina," Carlisle stated as he shut off the boat and climbing out of the side.

Christina's eyes bulged out as she turned her head sharply towards Carlisle. "What?" she breathed out, watching him as he gripped onto their carry-on bags.

"Surprise." He winked as he held out his hand.

"Carlisle, you—" She couldn't figure out the words she wanted to say as she took his hand unconsciously. "This is—"

"My wedding present to you," he finished as he pulled her up towards the house.

"You bought me a house?" She asked as they walked up the stairs.

He chuckled as they reached the porch. He scooped her up into her arms, making her gasp in surprise. She was quick to wrap her arms around his neck as they walked in through the threshold. "The island," he corrected.

"Carlisle Cullen."

He laughed as he walked her towards a bedroom off the side of the main living area.

"I can't even fathom—"

"So, don't," he whispered as he placed her back on her feet. Her eyes took in the master bedroom. Her advanced eyes were greedy as they took in each detail, before her eyes settled on door that led to a porch overlooking the ocean that they just walked up. "I'm going to grab the rest of the bags," he whispered, lingering a kiss on her shoulder.

To say she was surprised was an understatement. If she needed to breath, she was sure she would be having a panic attack at trying to put the price that Carlisle spent on this island. Her island.

She took in a shaky breath for the first time since she's transition as she turned around. Her eyes skimmed over the master bathroom, pausing as she looked at the jacuzzi tub in the corner. Her fingers tingled at the urge to jump in.

She moved out from the bedroom and back into the main room. Both sides of the room had double doors that led outside; the front door leading to the ocean while the back door lead straight into the forest. There was a white couch set in the middle of the room, surrounding by cherry wood tables. Her fingers ran down the soft couch as she walked further into the house, stopping in the kitchen.

It matched the main room, with cherry wood cabinets, a granite island in the middle, and bar stools on the right side. She glided her fingers over the granite top as she moved to look out the kitchen door. She crossed her arms over her chest as she stared at the pool off the side of the house. The deck had swing chairs hanging off the balcony above it. It was something out of her human dreams.

"What do you think?" Carlisle's voice called to her from inside.

She turned her head towards him to see him resting against the kitchen counters. She gave him a bright smile as she walked back inside. "Makes me sad I won't be able to use this kitchen," she joked. "My human self is completely jealous of my vampire self."

He chuckled as he stepped closer to her. He raised his hand, slipping it around the side of her neck. His long fingers delicately playing with her curls. His lips captured her own softly.

"It's perfect," she whispered as they pulled away. "Thank you. I can't even try to imagine how much this cost."

He shook his head, rubbing his nose against hers. "What's mine is now yours, Mrs. Cullen."

She felt the familiar fire erupt in her stomach at his words, and the truth settling around the newly weds. Carlisle watched as her copper eyes started to darken. He was slowly starting to enjoy the effect he had, realizing it wasn't just the other way around.

"There is one thing that I love most here," she whispered, leaning up on her feet to touch her lips to his. He hummed lightly in question, distracted at the light touch of her lips. The corner of her lips twitched upwards as she answered, "the jacuzzi."

Carlisle blinked as the feel of her lips against his disappeared. He looked around the room in question before laughing to himself as he heard her giggle from the master bedroom upstairs. He was slow to follow up the steps, listening to the tub filling up. He shrugged off his jacket and placed it on the bed as he listened to Christina get into the jacuzzi tub.

He slowly stepped into the bathroom with a soft smile as he met eye contact with the young mother. Bubbles were surrounding her as the jets pushed them around. His darkening eyes took in the sight of her simplistic seductive nature.

"Aren't you gonna join me?"

Christina's stomach burned as she listened to his answering growl. She knew if she were human, the intense feeling in her stomach would have made her puke, the sensation almost too much for her to bare. He stepped closer to her slowly, before kneeling down next to her. He pushed a loose curl from her bun behind her ear; his fingers lightly grazing her neck. Christina's eyes fluttered shut at his touch.

He took the time to lean forward and land his lips onto hers. The fire in both of their stomachs lit up in recognition from the touch. Christina pulled him closer, practically pulling him into the tub with her; but neither of them cared as Carlisle's remaining clothes got wet. They were too focused on the sensation their touch brought to the other. They were both addicted to the soft touches, and small breaths as they moved around each other— a dance neither practiced with each other, but both knew like they had.

In a flash, they switched their location from the bathroom, into the master bedroom. Tangling their legs together in the dark; their hands gripped tightly to the sheets surrounding them, neither paying attention to any rips heard throughout the night as they shared the same breath.

The first of many.

"A whole island?" Bella asked, trying to wrap her head around Carlisle's gift to her sister.

Christina laughed as she stared up at the ceiling of the main room. Carlisle has left to call the cleaning service that resided on the island. He had explained that he hired them about a month ago to keep the house maintained until after the wedding. Christina has offered to help clean up the mess of the master bedroom; but he just laughed her off, telling her not to worry about it.

"A whole island," she clarified. She still couldn't believe it herself. She had the whole night to come to terms with it, but it was still hard to wrap her head around it— well, not the whole night.

"How's Annie?" Christina changed the subject as the pain from missing her daughter rested in her chest.

She gave Carlisle a smile as he walked back into the house, followed by the cleaning service. He muttered something in Portuguese as he pointed up the stairs, before walking towards Christina. He raised her legs on the opposite end of the couch before sitting down, resting her legs back down.

"She's good," Bella answered. "Misses you both for sure, but there's enough people here to distract her."

"Seth is behaving?" Christina asked, narrowing her eyes as she thought of the young wolf. Both Bella and Carlisle chuckled at the mother's overprotective nature. Carlisle patted her leg in comfort.

"Yes," she answered still laughing. "Emmett's been watching him like a hawk."

"Good boy." Christina nodded her head, satisfied. She, then sighed as she said, "I'm gonna go. Tell Annie I'll call her later before bed."

"I will. Try to enjoy your honeymoon. Don't worry so much about us here. We're okay," Bella tried reassuring, even though she knew it was going to be useless. Christina was still going to worry.

"Alright. Call me if anything happens—"

"Goodbye, Christina," Bella sang before ending the call.

The mother sighed as she placed her phone down on the coffee table. She turned her attention towards Carlisle with a smile as she rested her head on the top of the couch. "Hi."

"Hi," he replied with a following laugh.

"What are today's plans?" Christina asked as she scooted closer to her husband, practically sitting in his lap. A flash of the night before ran through her mind, making lust darken her eyes.

Carlisle ran his fingers through Christina's wild curls with a sly grin, knowing where her thoughts were. "I figured we could hunt to start."

The mention of blood made her throat burn slightly. She had been too distracted to think about her cravings, but now that he mentioned it, she could only nod her head in agreement.

"And then I figured I'd take you through the trails surrounding the house. There's a waterfall I know you'd love to see," he whispered, his thumb rubbing her cheek lightly.

Before she could answer, Portuguese was muttered behind her as the cleaners came down the stairs, carrying the wooden remains of the broken bed. Christina hid her smirk into Carlisle's shoulder as they passed by the couch they were sitting on.

"Oops," she whispered, causing them both to break out into laughter.

Carlisle followed faithfully after his new bride as she ran through the trees searching for her first hunt on the island. She settled on the herd of wild boars that were grazing the grass. Carlisle immediately followed after her lead, being the gentleman and letting her take first pick.

"I was never a fan of pork," Christina sighed as she wiped her mouth after their hunt. "Apparently I'm still not."

Carlisle laughed as he took her hand in his own. She grinned up at him as she wrapped both of her hands around his. "I'll pick the next hunt," Carlisle compromised, which Christina easily agreed to.

The boar's blood smelt sweet, but it was too grainy. It was worse than elk back home, which even she didn't mind, but the other Cullens had negative feeling towards. They each rather go for the bigger mammals; mountain lions and bears.

Carlisle led Christina through the trees until they came to a well-walked trail. Christina's eyes soaked up the scenery as they continued their walk through the trees. It was only until Carlisle stopped short that she looked forwards again. She excitedly walked closer to the top of the waterfall, watching as the force of the water made waves at the bottom.

"This is so pretty," she gushed, turning her head towards the blond.

"I knew you would like it," he leaned down and landed a kiss on her cheek.

She turned her head and captured his lips with hers before he could pull away. She placed her hands on his waist before pushing.

Shock entered Carlisle's body as he fell into the water below them. He raised to the surface of the water only to block his eyes again as Christina cannon balled next to him, sending a splash over his head.

"You think you're so funny."

She giggled at his words, wrapping her arms and legs around his body. He rested his hands under her legs, keeping her close to him. "I know I'm funny," she responded with a kiss to his lips.

The trip to the waterfall was the first of their activities at the island. During the day Carlisle and Christina would venture into unknown territory, trying to find areas that beat the last one. At night they would tangle themselves up again under the sheets; somehow keeping the damage to a minimal unlike the first night. Though, Christina did end up breaking a pillow or two, and would find random lingering feathers throughout their clothing and the house. It would bring a smile to her face each time as she threw it away.

She would call and talk to Bella and Annie every night, catching up with her daughter on activities from school and the Cullen's house. She would laugh at how Bella was being pushed around by Alice before her own wedding.

It was so bittersweet being on the island. She enjoyed the alone time with Carlisle— a little too much if the bedroom was anything to go by. She enjoyed the trips they would take through out the day, and the new animals they would try on their shared hunts; but she missed home horridly. She missed her daughter, and her sister and father. She even missed the bickering between the Cullen children, and the teasing from Jacob and Seth. Her undead heart warmed at the thought of returning home, but she knew she would miss the island greatly as well. The three bedroom getaway was easily becoming a second home to her.
