============================================

By the time it was around 11:30 in the evening, both Demon started fortifying the boat with every planks they could get getting ready for the inevitable danger. They then took a break as they both laid down on the deck of the boat from opposite ends, their heads resting side by side as they stared up the cave ceiling and started chewing the last of their respective joints, Both Gray and Octavia's minds were finally at a state of ease that there were both comfortable with. But, of course even with the large amount of candy both Demons had eaten to calm themselves down, that didn't change the fact that Octavia was still starving.

"Ugh, fuck it here hold this."
Gray said requesting to hold the sword in his hands on the confused Goetia Demon on what he's about to do. He then held out his hand and suddenly a can of food appeared! Though Octavia had already gotten used to it anymore she wasn't in awe of the many surprises this Demon had given her. He then started by creating a straight blue flame on the center-bottom of the can cooking it.

"Oh, thank the Seven Hell's you have food if not I would've KILL for a Snicker Bar right now."
She thank him as he then stopped cooking the can and opened it as it already have pull tab he then reach for his coat and tug it around the can.

"Here, careful it's still hot."
He warned her as Gray reached it out to Octavia as she gave back the sword she was holding, sitting because she was still tired and hungry. She then blew the can gently so it wasn't too hot when she took a sip from the tomato sauce.

"Wow, this is good! What is this?"
she asked complimenting the food that Gray gave her. He chuckled at this.

"It's called Afritada it's good on its own but with a bit of rice you'll be having one hell of a good time." He replied as he then again took something out of his spatial storage and this time it was a drink, specifically apple juice. He gave it to her after she ate half of the can's content.

"Thanks, again. But, aren't you hungry too?"
Octavia asked as she was unclear why Gray didn't get another set of can food for himself he then sighs contemplating if he should tell her or not.

"Believe it or not I can actually last at least a month and a half without food or water."
As he replied with the new shocking revelation her so much so that Octavia choked on her food as Gray noticed this as he then quickly gave her the Juice in his hands she then grabbed it and drank it.

"Excuse me...,"
She said breathing for air a bit fixing her composure before replying again
"What the fuck!? Like I know for a fact that sinners don't die but still suffer nonetheless but still for you to last that long without eating if it were someone else they would go mentally insane!"
She exclaim still quite taking it in that such a sinner exist Gray just laughs she then pouts and started playfully punching him in the side of his knee.

"Sorry, sorry, I thought you wouldn't react like that being a 'princess' n all."

He said that he couldn't keep his laugh as the pouting face Octavia had too much effect on him. It was the first time he had ever seen an owl make such a cute face when angry, however she couldn't help but join in the laugh herself.

It took a while for both of them to stop laughing, forgetting about the fears that were marked to them earlier, it was better this way for both of them.

"So you think that this river is what Hell used to be like?"
He asked.
"And that Lucifer and the others just built the new Pride Ring on top of the old one?"

That had been one of many theories of the two Demons had come up with ever since they've been in the Blood River, and been more worried ever since they first saw the words on the wall. In fact, it was the strongest out of all of them, Granted they couldn't come up with anything conclusive, but given the existence of the bloody river itself, along with the boat and the ancient language all of which was out of sight and out of mind from the Demons in both rings above and below it, it felt like the pieces of the puzzle were beginning to fit together.

"Mhmm, that is as good of an explanation as any," Octavia pointed out. "I mean why else would there be a boat down here? It was probably abandoned during the transfer a year ago."

"If it's been down here for as long as we think, then that would explain the Whale Oil," Gray added in agreement.

"Exactly," Octavia replied with a nod. "Still it's still completely unexpected. I mean I figured this place was old but I didn't think it was 'Old Testament' old."

Needless to say, Gray agreed with that statement a hundred percent. Given how modern hell appears to be in what he had heard about it while he was alive, it was still pretty baffling to see certain things about it that were right on the money.

"That is practically logical if you think about it," he commented, before listing off the possible details of what might have happened. "Hell started as of the stuff of nightmares spoken about in the old text, then as the years go on, the times change, and somehow eventually even Lucifer himself starts to mellow out. At some point, he moves on from the rivers of blood and the mountains of bones and builds the pentagram right above the lot of it. Guess even the Princes of Darkness has to get with the times eventually. But, it's unlikely he was willing to do that."

"Well that also kinda makes your wonder if the other rings have something similar doesn't it?" Octavia added, Understanding Gray's description of the potential scenario easily enough.

"Ah, the other rings been a while since I've ask the big 7 the permission to grant me access to all of the rings. Though it was all a blur to me as I didn't pay attention to my surroundings and all."
He said taking a look at his phone reminiscing his memories when he was still new to hell. However, a certain Owlette was still processing what the demon besides her just said and forgot that Gray was actually a sinner... which aren't allowed to go to other rings.

"...Wait... you asked the Big Seven permission to travel around Hell!?"
She said standing up immediately at yet another shocking revelation, she then peeked and saw a lot of pictures on his phone serving in different levels of hell. Seeing the evidence she needed, she then noticed the sword spinning around horizontally. Gray, then laughs as he notices the sword as well.

"I suppose I should stop dropping a lot of bombshells lately huh?" He replied as if he's talking to the sword then he sighs when the sword's chains playfully wraps itself around his head. "Yeah, yeah, my bad it's not good for her health. Anyway, the reason why I can do that is well because of this sword right here its name is Monashi."

"So that sword is the reason why? But, how can a single sword make the difference?"
she asked, clearly confused.

"The high lords told me that anyone that this sword makes the user it chooses has the permission to go to any levels and yeah, even sinners I suppose, but they didn't gave much details."
He commented quite annoyed at his last sentence.

"Oh, so that's why you asked me if I know this Azlen was. They didn't tell you anything."
she said, gaining a nod from the demon, it was then another minute of silence as Octavia continued eating, she then burp as quietly as possible and change the conversation.

"Hey, this might be a dumb take but... I'm sorry for being such a bitch earlier,"
she said, much to Gray's surprise as he finished adjusting his mask.
"It's just that this whole day has been... you know."

Hearing those words come out of Octavia's mouth, Gray couldn't help but sigh in pity for seeing her like this, he did saved her in the nick of time but when he remembered her face of agony and fear he couldn't help but blame himself for not finding her soon. He then looked back at her and for some reason even though he could only see the back of her head at the moment, he knew that the look on her face right now would show all of the regret she was feeling with every syllable escaped her beak.

"Unbearable? Yeah... I know," He replied with a small sigh again. "It's not like I'm guiltless either. After all, I'm the one who dragged you down here in the first place."

"Yeah, to save my life!"
Octavia retorted, snapping her head back around to face the Masked Demon.

Having nothing to counter that, Gray remained silent as he stared up the ceiling. However Octavia wasn't done just yet. Now that she had gotten that particular sentence out in the open, she simply had to ask the question that she thought she would never actually say.

"Why's you do it anyway?" She asked. "Why did you save me?"

To be honest, Gray really didn't have expected her to ask that, but he knew eventually that she would he didn't think it'd be now. After all, when in Hell, especially during the Extermination, it's usually always every Demon for themselves. But even so, Gray's pride couldn't let him just leave the rest of the innocent demons on their own not by a detestable ambush by the heavens, and hearing those accursed sirens, Gray couldn't deny that he felt a terrible urge to step in after seeing the look on Octavia's face he could've just let her die there yet he couldn't. He then sighs again before looking at Octavia.

"I just couldn't ignore someone begging for help," he finally answered honestly, remembering every detail.  "Especially when that someone experience that kind of fear, agony...hopelessness, and cries."

The moment Gray gave his answer, Octavia was left practically speechless. Honestly, what could anyone possibly say after hearing that? Had this come from any other Demon, she would have accused them of being dishonest, but for some reason... She didn't get that feeling from Gray. She couldn't understand why, but for some reason or other, Octavia felt like she could trust Gray's word no matter what came out of his mouth. Of course, she also didn't want to give Gray such an impression so she tried to brush the statement off.

"You know, if we weren't in Hell, that kind of talk would actually sound pretty nice,"

she said, trying to sound as casual as possible.

"Much appreciated," Gray replied with an appreciative smile. "Phew, still I'm glad I was able to say it to you. If I were to say that to anyone else, I'd more than likely get shot for my troubles."

Octavia couldn't help but laugh at those words.

"Or made into someone's bitch!"
she retorted, adding to the shared joke.

As the two of them laid there, laughing to themselves, they both couldn't help but enjoy the quiet moment. After going through the horrors of the early Extermination, the uncertainty of sailing down a river of blood, and Octavia finally being able to rest with her replenished appetite, the silence was quite a welcoming noise. In a way, they needed to unload all that they had gone through for each other. They giggled from time to time before Octavia spoke.

"You know? You're okay, Gray," she admitted. "You're definitely a lot more if not better than some of those brats I usually deal with, that's for sure."

"What's that supposed to mean? I'm not a brat."
Gray replied jokingly, still giggling like a stoner.

"I don't know," Octavia replied with a shrug. "But in all seriousness, you are a good guy. I'm not too proud to admit that."

"Thanks," Gray replied gratefully, tilting his head to notice a small yawn escape from Octavia's beak. "Right, you should get some sleep. Can't have you feeling groggy when we finally get out of this bloody mess of a river, can we?"

Before Octavia even had the chance to protest and tried getting up, Gray stopped her by holding her shoulders telling her not to stand up, earning a weird look from the young Goetia Demon. He then reached for his coat which was close to the railing where they were standing, as it was finally dried as he then started folding his coat and rested it under Octavia's head, like a pillow, much to her surprise.

"Hey, you've already let me rest earlier I'll stay up and watch this time," Gray said, taking a flashlight out of his spatial storage while also holding back a heavy yawn of his own which Octavia could still notice. "You need more rest than I do."

Sweet Lucifer, could this guy be any nicer!? At this point, Octavia couldn't even think of any words to say to that. Thus with one more yawn, she gave in to the Masked Demon's request and allowed herself to lay her head back and soon drifted into a light sleep. As a certain demon brought out his pocket caffeine which he drinks to keep himself awake a bit more than usual.

============================================

An hour had passed, Gray still checking out the area having an uneasy feeling like he could feel something out of the ordinary even with his gravity sense it's always a blur when he tries to use it under water so he had no choice but to use the best way to scan the area, his eyes. He kept walking around the boat patrolling the perimeter but after an hour there was nothing so far so he took a break.

Soon enough, his mind began to wonder about what could be at the other end of this seemingly never-ending river of blood. Was it a powerful demon munching on some poor souls like in Dante's inferno? Or maybe there would be a lone house where some ancient demon lived? Or maybe they would find all the ancient pagan Gods just chilling while playing cards? No matter what he could think of, every theory sounded quite baffling, even in his head. Deciding to take his mind off the subject for a while, Gray pulled out his Hellphone and decided to scroll through his photo while he still had a little power left, thanks to a certain Owlette who at least used up half of its battery.

Though he couldn't blame her as she was bored but now so is he so in the end he's just the same as her. He stopped patrolling and sat next to the sleeping Goetia demon. Eventually, he smiled underneath his mask as he came across one particular photo, namely one that showed him taking a selfie while cuddling up with a small white fox wearing a blue clover shaped ribbon with a bell on her.

"Aww, who's that cute little thing?"

Feeling his heart practically jump out his throat, Gray quickly snapped his head around in shock upon hearing Octavia's voice, seeing the Goetia Demon peaking open a single eye to stare up at his Hellphone, clearly able to see because he was just besides her.

"Ay, potangina kang ibon ka! Shouldn't you be asleep!?"
Gray snapped, grabbing his chest as if he had just had a heart attack. So much so he had to use his native language.

"Just woke up," Octavia replied, her voice slightly slurred due to still being completely exhausted.
"So, who's that in the picture? Your pet?"

Quickly getting over the initial shock, Gray shook his head with an amused smile.

"Yup, her name's Fubuki, just means blizzard in English but she prefers the Japanese one," He said, once again holding up the phone to his face. "Rescued her from a shitty pet dealer in the slums a Dingley asshole it was about 4 fears ago. After that, she became my only pride and joy in this afterlife."

Octavia couldn't help but smile at that as she once again closed her eye and yawned.

"That's nice." she murmured, once again drifting back to sleep.

Laying her back down on the hard wood of the deck with a hidden smile, Gray looked at Octavia, unable to deny how cute she was while she slept... He then shook his head, not letting the risk of her waking up again while he was looking at her. With that in mind, he then took one final look at his phone, sighing in disappointment as the battery finally died, leaving nothing more than a black screen and the flection of his masked on the screen. Putting the phone back into his pocket, Gray then simply sighed in boredom there was only one thing he needed to say to himself.

"I should've bought a damn power bank."
he muttered under his breath.

============================================

Minutes turned into hours, and neither demon sleeping and awake on the boat even knew whether or not the morning had even arrived when Octavia finally fluttered her eyes open. Stretching her entire body out as she sat up, popping her back as she tried to recover from sleeping on a solid surface, she turned to see Gray standing on the edge of the boat using his dimly flashlight he then turned off the flashlight to see me awake.

"Oh, good.... I have no idea what time it is but I'm just gonna guess it's still evening."
He said jokingly greeting Octavia and Gray chuckling at his own joke.

Unfortunately, while both demons were giggling themselves on the deck, they failed to notice something that was happening in the river, just beneath the boat, As the blood continued to flow, all of a sudden a large ripple stood out, one that was quite huge and following the boat. A mere second later, a bunch of large bubbles started forming on the surface. As they all burst one by one, a foul stench was released into the air, after which it began to waft through the entire cave and found itself going right up both demon's nostrils.

"Ugh!" She exclaimed, swiftly snapping her hands to her beak in an attempt to block out the horrible smell as she then notice Gray completely stand still frozen in place as he saw Monashi flashing light while pointing behind them Octavia didn't understand what it was trying to say but Gray knows.

"Octavia.... We're not alone anymore," Gray pointed out, his mask doing nothing to cover the fear that dripped from his voice.

Of course, Octavia wasn't feeling any better Between the smell and the noise it was practically a miracle that she had been able to hold herself together at the moment,  in fact, the tension was so bad that even her tail feathers were standing on end. All of a sudden both Demons found themselves losing their footing, with Octavia falling on top of Gray as they both collapsed to the floor due to the sudden rocking of the boat.... almost as if something had rammed it from below.

"What the fuck?!" Octavia exclaimed, only to awkwardly stare down as she realized how close her face was to Gray's.

"You might want to get up?" Gray asked with an uncomfortable gulp, his eyes shifting from side to side.

Blushing with embarrassment, Octavia quickly pushed herself off the Masked Demon, allowing them both to rise to their feet again. Deciding to brush off that awkward situation for the moment, the two Demons then tried to focus on the noise again as it notably began to grow louder.... before suddenly going silent as the grave.

"Octavia, remember if everything goes down under I want you to go to the back of the front of the boat as fast as possible I created a backup raft there."
He explained as it he was ready to sacrifice himself as he was surrounding himself with blue flaming aura.

"What? No, I can stay and fight-
She tried to persuade him

"This isn't up for debate Octavia."
He cut her mid-sentence.

"I'm not leaving you! That's final!"
She snapped disagreeing with his plan.

"For Satan's sake-"

FWOOOOSH!

Alas, Gray never got to finish his sentence when, all of a sudden, something burst out of the blood, letting out a fierce bellow as it fell back with a heavy splash against the back of the boat, once again sending both Gray and Octavia flying onto
