April has woken up to a brand new day at Monsters University. She has reached out the Scare building and has walked to sit down on her seat. She can see that there are many empty seats, probably due to some monsters having failed the exams.... like Mike and Sulley. It kind of pulls of a big weight from her to not be able to see the annoying proud Sulley in the program, but Mike.... it kind of has left an empty space in her heart. She liked him. He was a good friends to her. And since that day, when she tried to talk to him, he hasn't really been contacting her nor Randall. She really hoped he is doing fine.
She spots Randall to the other side of the classroom, on his own seat, having spotted her too. She waves at him from the other side, noticing to her big surprise, that he has started to move off from her seat and started to walk towards her. His affairs in hands, he walks to a seat next to her, and sits down. April chuckles.
"You don't mind me?", she asks, smiling.
"Not at all. I feel less nervous with you. And still, I needed company.", he says, smiling to her, "I' happy you passed the exams like me."
April grins.
"That's nice to say.", she says, before looking down, sadly, "I miss Mike."
"Me too.", Randall follows her moves, "We haven't been talking since a long time now."
Then Professor Knight claps his hands together.
"Enough chatting today!", he calls out, "Congratulations to everyone still alive in this scaring program! Now, for this semester, you shouldn't be scared anymore, we won't do any exam like this one again. You have proven that you are worthy to be in this program and that you are as scary as you pretended to be. Now, for this start of this brand new semester, we shall study about the hidden places possible to hide to when going to scare a child in their bedroom."

At the end of the lesson, April is walking out of the scare building with Randall by her side, in direction of the cafeteria. Randall starts a conversation.
"So, have you heard about the scare games?", he asks.
April facepalms herself, realizing something.
"The scare games! I forgot about those. They are starting pretty soon. I think today is when the fraternities are going to be elected for the games.", she says.
"Oh, so you wish to join a fraternity too?", Randall continues to ask.
"Well, I don't know actually. I wish to but I don't know if-", she starts, before stopping by the last word Randall has said, "Wait.... why too?"
"During the holidays, I have made a demand to join in one of those.", he says excitedly.
"Woah, that's great, Randall.", April exclaims happily, "Who you get to join? Jaws Theta Chi I can suppose? Or maybe Omega Howl? Tell me please."
"I can't for now, I don't know if I'm accepted yet. I want to be sure I am in before saying to anyone that I joined them. I'll see that today. I have to meet them in a few moments by the way.", Randall says.
"Oh ok. Get me informed of it, I am super curious to know which fraternity you decided to be in.", April says, winking.
"Haha, sure.", Randall chuckles, "If I'm in, you will be impressed.... I hope."
"Of course I will.", April says.
"But what about you? Don't you wanna join?", Randall asks.
April scratches behind her head with one hand, awkwardly.
"Well.... I do, it's just.... I don't really know if I will.", she says.
"Why?", Randall asks.
"I'm not sure. One thing is, I'm not this confident about joining a fraternity. I'm afraid of....", April starts, looking down on the floor, hesitating to end her sentence.
"You are afraid of what?", he asks, feeling concern towards her.
April shakes her head.
"Nothing. I'm just not feeling ready.", she says.
Randall shrugs, accepting her decision.
"That's ok. There is still next year or the year after it or even after. You got time. If not this year, then another one.", he says.
April forces a chuckle.
"Sure....", she says, doubting if she would be able to take this opportunity next years to come.
As April and Randall reach the cafeteria, they enter inside. April stops Randall with a hand.
"You can already order your own food. I'll just go to the bathroom for a moment, ok? I'll be back in no time.", she says, walking away.
"Ok, see you.", he says, waving at her.
April starts walking towards the bathroom of the cafeteria, putting on her hoodie. While she is walking, she notices an angry Sullivan walking opposite side to get past her. She avoids eye-contact with him. But he has noticed her and he doesn't approve her presence here. So he forcefully bumps against her, making her trip off to the ground. She gets up, holding her arm against which Sulley has bumped against, and frowns at him, who is walking away.
"What did I do to you?", she scowls.
Sulley stops, turning his head with a selfish look at her.
"How lucky you are to have passed the exams. And here I thought to see you in the can design class.", he scoffs, starting to walk away again.
"That is not luck, Sullivan.", April's frown hardens, "It's what it's called "Learning". Unlike you, I did all my best to pass this exam."
April starts walking away, to the bathroom. What she doesn't notice, is that Sullivan has stopped marching. He stood still for a few seconds before angrily turning towards April and marching rapidly to her. He grabs her by the back of the shirt, dragging her to a corner behind some walls. April, caught by surprise, struggles from his grip to try to get free, in vain. As he got to the corner, Sulley throws April down. April lets out a yelp at this. As soon as she is on ground, she starts crawling backwards, away from Sulley, still frowning.
"The hell do you want from me? Leave me alone!", she shouts at him angrily.
Sulley starts walking threateningly towards her, his fists clenched.
"You don't understand yet, do you?", he says, grabbing her by her neck and pulling her up against the wall, hardly, "I am a Sullivan! I should have been in this program! What are you? Nothing! Slyther, what a weird name, never heard of it and nobody else did! My family's name is known for scaring! I should have been there in the program!", he shouts angrily.
Sulley tightens his grip on her neck, leaving April less oxygen in less than a few seconds.
"S-Stop.... S-Sull-livan.... c-can't b-breathe....", she tries saying with all the breath left.
April's vision starts getting fuzzy and dark. Yet she truly wishes someone could hear them out and come over to help. Or maybe just pass by and notice the scene going on. All she needs right now is some help. Just a little help. All her struggling is futile, Sullivan does have some tight grip and a good way to not let go off her. His claws were digging on her skin. All her throat is hurting, and soon enough are her lungs burning for air. He wouldn't try to kill her, don't he? Maybe he is just unconsciously angry and will notice what he is doing? Right? Right?....
"I would suggest you let go off her. Don't you realize how fragile that can be to do that?", a deep male voice says from behind Sulley.
Still staring angrily at April, Sulley answers.
"She doesn't know who she is messing with."
"Maybe, but she does know better than you that at one point, her neck could break.", the voice says, sternly.
April couldn't see who that person talking is, because of her blurry sight. But right now, Sulley's eyes widen as he realizes what he is doing, noticing how pale April has become, and how still she was becoming. Sulley startles, letting go off April and letting her fall off to the ground. April coughs, panting and holding her neck with her hands, feeling sore all over it outside and inside. Sulley is pulled away from April by the guy who interfered.
"Good boy, now back off, and pray that you will get mercy once she will be able to talk again. Because I think your name will be used just to report this.", the voice scowls at Sullivan, calm but stern.
Sulley, afraid, starts running off, trying to not be seen by anyone like this. April's vision starts getting clearer. Her head low, looking on the floor, she couldn't believe what was happening. She could tell she thought she was done for. Her breath back on, it is weak. And her voice is also pretty shaky from shock and raspy from soreness. She can see a shadow getting close to her. A shadow with horns. A hand is offered to her. She looks up to it, grabbing it and gets pulled back up. She realizes just as she looked more up, who that person having helped her out was. From all the monsters, that was the least expected.
"No need to thank. You better correct that little troublemaker attitude of yours before you really are lost forever. Wouldn't like discovering a corpse in here or elsewhere next time.", it's Johnny Worthington, scoffing.
April backs off, stunned by seeing him, other than any monster. She raises an eyebrow, seeing him standing still and calmly on place.
"W-What a-are... argh.", April tried to say something, but her throat hurt.
She holds on it. Johnny could see some marks caused by Sulley's claws.
"Ouch.", he cringes jokingly, "Better get to nurse now."
Johnny is about to leave when suddenly April stops him.
"W-Why?", she manages to let out.
"Hm?", he looks back to her, an eyebrow raised up.
"W-Why d-did y-you h-hav-ve to do t-this? W-why h-help me-e?", she tries letting out.
"Don't try to force on it, it'll get worse. Now if you'll excuse me, I got something else to do right now.", he says, walking away for good.
April is confused. She at least was hoping that he would answer to her question. What a rude person. And her confusion isn't helped out since she doesn't understand why would someone like Johnny help her. Two unexpected confusing reactions. But at least, Sulley has let go off her. First thing she has to do right now, is to go to the nursery immediately. She is sorry for Randall because she told him to wait for her and she would probably not come for a while now. So she starts walking away from the corner she was dragged to and leaves the cafeteria, her affairs taken on her back. Her hood still on, she bents her head more towards the ground to not let anyone else see the marks on her throat. She walks to the nursery building and enters in, taking her hood off from her head, she looks around to search for the secretary desk. A female monster working on this desk notices her enter and walks over to her.
"Hello there, how can we help you?", she asks.
April shows her marks to the secretary, who gasps.
"Oh dear, come with me. I'll bring you to a room and I'll send someone to examine that.", she tells April, leading her to a free examination room.
When they enter in, the secretary leaves her to sit down on a seat near a desk.
"Stay here, a nurse will come soon.", she says, getting out of the room.
April waits a little moment, patiently, and then another female monster, dressed as a nurse, enters the room.
"So, I've been told you have been wounded on the neck. Let me take a look.", she says, approaching her and leaning her face towards April.
April let's go off her neck and lets the nurse look at the marks on her neck. The nurse cringes lightly at it.
"Ouch. That doesn't look aggressive but that must hurt. By the way, does it hurt? And if yes, is it only on the marks?", the nurse gives multiple questions.
"W-Well-l, it-t a-als-so h-hurts-s i-in m-my throa-at. M-My voice I-is s-sore.", April tries to say.
"Ok, how did that happen?", the nurse asks forward.
April hesitates. She wishes to report Sullivan's action, but somehow, something gives her the idea that she might not really want to denounce him. Somehow, she gets an awkward but pity feeling towards Sulley. She couldn't see his face clearly, but Sulley seemed to be trembling when he let go off her. As if afraid of something. As if realising what he was doing. She is still really angry at him for having done that to him, and honestly she knows he deserves being reported and get punished for it. But she knows that other than having been thrown out of the scare program, getting more punishment like this is probably too much to bare. Maybe Sullivan deserves another chance. April sighs, knowing how stupid it is to refuse to give herself justice like this.
"Well.... I've eaten something that suddenly got stuck in my throat. I've been choking for a few seconds, holding my neck pretty tightly until someone has helped me let it out. It took probably a minute or more to get this out. So now it hurts in my throat and also I hurt myself involuntarily.", April lies, staying the most calm possible to not make it suspect.
"Oh, I'm sorry to hear about it. One positive thing is that you didn't choke too long for it. You are right to have come here and tell me all of this. Like I said, this doesn't look aggressive, but just for sure, to calm down the sting, I'll give you some medicine for you to take everyday until it gets better. Are you following the scare program?", the nurse asks, walking towards a shelve.
"Uh, y-yes.", April answers.
"Then I will write a certificate for you to give to Professor Knight or Madam Hardscrabble to inform them that if you will have roaring lessons, that you better not participate to these. For at least a few days, it is best not to force on your voice like this.", the nurse says, taking out a small bottle of pills plus a small pot and gives it to her.
"Take only one pill per 24 hours. And use this little cream one time per day too to heal and stop the itching on your marks. I'll come back.", she says, rushing over to her desk and getting out a piece of printed out paper plus a pen and signs something down before giving this to April too, "There we go."
"T-Thanks.", April says, putting it all in her school bag.
"Well, I think you can go now. There is no need of anything else right now, unless you got a request. Have a nice day and stay safe.", the nurse says, nodding her head to her to say goodbye.
"Thank you. Bye.", April says, grabbing her bag and leaving the nursery.
April now walks back to the cafeteria to find Randall back. To her surprise though, as she orders her food, she doesn't see him anywhere inside. He seems to be missing. Probably he has thought that she left him or maybe he went to search for her. She shrugs off, taking her food to eat outside of the cafeteria, to the school yard. She ordered a raw scrambled eggs with decayed cheese, raw cow meat and nettle sandwich. She clutches against a wall, eating her sandwich as she looks around the university, relaxing. Sure it hurts on her throat when she swallows. But when she finished, she took out one pill and spread out the cream on her neck, that all given by the nurse. She enjoys the fresh air of the outside, thinking about how this semester will go on like. Hopefully without having to deal with further harm on her and less troubles. She wished she could have taken some time to think about joining a fraternity to participate on the scare games. She was looking forward to play a part there, but she never was sure so far. And still now, she isn't sure of herself. If ever she joined a team, she was afraid of deceiving. She was afraid of failing, of not be enough for her teammates, to not succeed.... to be judged. But it's too late now, she doesn't have time left to be trying any of the fraternities. Maybe another time, she might change her mind and join the scare games.
Speaking of it, April can see a crowd starting to form on a corner. There, there is a stage on place with a panel written "Scare Games" up from it and the two monsters directing it are mounting on the stage. Those are the same as those who have introduced April on her first day about these games. It's now that the fraternities are subscribing on to participate on the games. April starts marching towards the crowd, curious to hear out the introduction and see who will participate. After all, if she's not participating as a concurrent, at least she will as part of the audience.
